“Bitch..why are you yelling? I’m right outside.” She said coming into view. “Ow! Te ves increíble en ese vestido de mami! You look like a three course meal and don’t get me started on the shoes. Where in the hell did you get those?” She rambled with excitement. Her compliment made my heart thud in my chest and my palms sweaty. Tonight is Brian’s birthday so he invited Ray and I to come along to his party at this club in Manhattan. It’s now going on 10:30 and I’m still not ready. I had Ravyn come over to the house two hours ago so we could get ready together. She’s all dressed and ready but me? I’m having trouble piecing together a full look for this damn party.

“Mommy, what we are doing here?” Izaiah asked, swinging our joined hands together as we walked into one of my favorite stores. My birthday is in a couple of days so Ravyn teamed up with Brian to plan this overzealous birthday party for me. Turning 38 is not a big deal for me but I am only two years away from 40. I’ve been trying very hard not to think much into my age and so far so good. However, with this little shindig my best friend and goofy ass Brian are planning I think more and more about my life and achievements.
“Well baby I have to find a really pretty outfit for my birthday party that your titi is throwing for me. What do you think I should wear, hm?” Holding the back of Zay’s head I led him over to a wall lined up with dresses of all kinds.

Following behind the florists I looked out at the garden spotting three arrangements that really caught my eye. The color coordination and presentation really made my eyes light up. It’s been hours of constant walking for me and I’m reaching my end point. Corey and I have finally gotten our affairs in order to celebrate our vow renewal. We’ve had to postpone this event for a year due to how hectic our life has been. This ceremony is extra special because we’ve been married for four years now, my mother’s cancer is in remission and Ellena is halfway through kindergarten. All in all this year has been so good for our family. We’ve received a platoon of blessings and I’m just grateful to be in such a happy space.
“What do you envision, Sabrina? This is yours and your husband’s special day and our job is to execute your ideas and visions.” Carmen and Paula opened the floor while I took a good look around.

Laughing at Teresa cursing out her husband I glanced to my right to pick up another one of Izaiah’s t-shirts. I’ve been keeping myself busy but at a slow pace so I don’t trigger any sudden nausea. So far today has been relatively smooth. The new adjustments of Corey living here make me very giddy and childish. Childish in a good way. It’s so strange that I wake up and he’s right next to me. I get the same feelings when I get into bed, drift off to sleep and then I feel him climb into bed later on. It’s a peaceful feeling I’m learning to love rather quickly.
Izaiah is extremely happy to have Corey around all the time. I mean Corey’s been around constantly ever since we moved back here. But it’s different now that we know we’re a family. The energy in the house is warm, lifelike and comfortable. Much more than it ever was with just me and my little boy. We needed Corey’s presence to warm our home.

Chewing on my thumb nail and bouncing my leg up and down strategically at a certain speed, I prayed silently that I’m not getting ahead of myself. Last night when I spoke aloud that I was nervous about this pregnancy being a false alarm I’ve had this weird feeling ever since. All month long before I saw Corey yesterday I was so confident about being pregnant but something about me throwing up in his bathroom changed my whole mindset.
A strong grip on my thigh and hand made me turn over and look at Corey in sadness. “I’m sorry Corey I’m just really, really nervous.” Shaking my head at my negative thinking I crossed my legs and leaned into him using his shoulder as a resting place for my head. His hand kept a firm hold on mine while his other hand massaged my leg.

A lot has happened during the last few weeks. I’ve had strange men watching everyday after I leave work. Like this shit has gotten so bad that I’ve had to find random places to park and go in just to call a Uber to pick me. I’ve had to ditch my car so many times this week alone! I called Jessica for a little favor and asked if she could let me use one of her cars. She’s got an extra that she keeps in storage and she’s been so kind to allow me to borrow it. Andre doesn’t know what’s been going on because I haven’t been really talking to him. Maybe I’m just paranoid but I think my phone is tapped. Because of this I’ve gotten myself a prepaid phone which I’ve been texting Andre from just so he’ll have a way to contact me. I’m so scared to even leave the house in fear that someone will be waiting for me.

Feeling like I’m about to burn up I tossed and turned suddenly feeling some air hit my skin. The coolness relaxed me, allowing me to comfortably go back to resting. However someone holding me awakened me completely. I thought it was Izaiah but when I looked over my shoulder I was shocked to see Corey sound asleep. Carefully I looked underneath the blanket seeing that we were both completely naked. What the hell happened last night? How did I get here? Moving around I gently readjusted him so he could continue sleeping in peace. I sat up in his bed and as the covers fell into my lap I glanced at my chest seeing hickies and soft bite imprints all over me.
“Que carajo?” I whispered looking around the room. Clothes were thrown everywhere, pillows and feathers from one of them scattered all across the floor and a bottle of Ciroc laying on the table at the end of his bed. His bed linen was all sorts of messed up and since Corey sleeps alone just about every night, his space never looks like this. “What the fuck did we do last night?” I asked myself. Turning over I saw Corey turned over on his stomach with his head under a pillow. Leaning down to get level with him I placed my cheek on his back to ensure he was still breathing.

She picks and picks and expects me not to get upset. Shaking my head I stood up to look for my shit so I can get the hell out of here. I met up with Alvin, my travel agent, this morning to go over the details for this Miami trip. After that meeting I called this girl to see if she was free. Nikole knew what the deal was before the conversation even ended. Sure I’ve been avoiding her at all costs but for good reason. I simply didn’t want to see her or talk to her.
