Odd misogyny in fandom.

In most fandoms, there’s a huge issue with misogyny. Most when fandom pits together two women over a man, or men believing female characters are weaker than male ones due to well, being a woman. Mainly since I’m in the DC fandom, I’ll give two examples.

One, Ships. Now, ships come with every fandom, I’ve even seen some in presidential ones (lol) but with lots of F/M and M/M ships, most shippers under mind and or hate on characters for no reason. Like in lots of DickKory ships. Most of them are Starfire fans, so they naturally hate on Dick’s other love interest.

Personally, I don’t really care about either ship. But seeing being get mad at Barbara for the fact Dick cheated on Kory with her? How does that make any sense? I mean, I get the hate for the misogyny Barbara exhibited towards Kory. But that’s since been retconned. So has the cheating. It’s just confusing how the man who initiated the cheating is an innocent saint, but the woman is crazy and should die. Huh.

Now, with M/M ships. Most of them (Jayroy, BirdFlash, Superbat) women are used as plot devices. They just give children then leave, or love interests are used as villains to make a M/M ship, or the female character just doesn’t exist. It’s stupid, and makes seem like female characters only exist to push ships then leave. Like they hold no real significance or importance in comics since all they’re supposed to do is provide men with babies and then never appear again.

It kinda just rubs me the wrong way that Jai and Irey are now more of Dick’s kids now even though Linda almost died trying to give birth to them. Or the fact Jade is an absolute villain and should be punished for interacting with Lian but Jason is a sweetheart innocent angel. Lian didn’t even exist in RHATO!

(Edit.) Another thing I’d like to add. Fandom forgetting female characters or being purposefully oblivious. Now I could blame this on the comics under utilizing said female characters, but why is most Batfam drawings missing Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain, Or Barbara Gordon? (Also Duke but that’s a story for another time) Or YJ drawings missing Cassie Sandsmark? Even Justice league drawings missing Wonder Woman when she’s in almost every version of the justice league?

I mainly see this with the most older men in DC. They see women as weak, or worse than male characters for existing. Mainly with the Mount Rushmore argument where they can’t understand being popular is not better than nor equal impact. And it’s Wonder Woman over Iron man and Hulk.

When male character has lots of love interests it’s seen as funny, or attractive. But if a woman does they’re seen as whores or compared to porn stars. It’s a double standard that’s been happening for decades.

It just pisses me off. Not because of the fictional character parts, but because we’ve literally worked for decades for equal rights and this is what we have.

Arrow has to be the worst representation of Oliver. Ever.

This might be a “Ice is cold” take but oh my god.

So I’m watching arrow, (My Bf is a huge arrow fan) and I’m actually loosing my mind. Who is this?

Is this a distance relative of Oliver Queen who’s also named Oliver Queen and suspiciously has friends named after Oliver? Because genuinely. Who. Is. This.

I’m starting to think that they didn’t read a page of source material because why is Oliver a CONSERVATIVE Batman Punisher hybrid. Where is my funny sassy king?

And who the fuck is Laurel Lance.

We don’t need more Batman media.

I’ve been a dc fan for a little over two years now, and I’ve noticed a difference on how dc treats their characters. Everyone knows the trinity, Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman. Yet Wonder Woman seems left out of so much more media than the others.

Same with Flash and Green Lantern. Now you be saying these are some old and popular characters! And I would be too! So why is dc treating them like absolute garbage? WW, Flash, and green lantern have seven pieces of live action media (eight including that incoming lanterns show but god knows if that might be cancelled.) and Batman has eleven live action movies alone. Bruh.

And it’s annoying. It’s annoying simply because they spend little time and effort on the smaller characters and more time on things that their fans don’t want. I believe marvel and other comic companies are more ahead isn’t because they’re more interesting, or anything like that. It’s simply because they listen to their fans.

I’ve seen so many people begging for more Wonder Woman content or any else that doesn’t have to do with Batman since they are tired, so what do we get? More Harley Quinn show. Yay. All the games are Batman, all the movies are Batman, all the comics have Batman features or reduce favorite characters to supporting characters. Which make Batman fans happy, but not everyone.

But. Batman fans are most of the fan base. So they don’t care.

I just wanted to post my rant on how Wonder Woman would beat Superman in a fight without being doxxed, tumblr seems nicer than TikTok and other apps. So I’ll voice my opinion here.

Now, the main argument I see when it comes to this is that she’s weaker and slower than him. Well, you know who’s also weaker and slower than Superman? Batman. So by that logic Batman being human would lose all fights against him since Superman is just a god. But he doesn’t.

Because when compared to people like Batman and Wonder Woman, Superman is like a kid with a yellow belt. WW and Batman are some of the best, if not the best fighters in the DCU (Batman said WW was the best melee himself). It does not matter if you’re the strongest on the team, as goes my favorite Wonder Woman line “What’s power if you don’t know how to use it.”

To put it bluntly, Superman doesn’t know how to do anything but throw punches, while Diana has been trained royally and has thousands of years of experience over him. And I’ve had someone say, “But Batman’s trained Superman a bit!” Not for 5000 years though.

Superman has too many weaknesses to win against Diana. Not just kryptonite, red suns, plot, or magic, but his lack of training and experience. Not to mention Diana isn’t that much weaker or slower than Superman. As said by Batman himself, his raw speed is faster, but her combat speed is faster. Her reflexes/reactions are so good she’s literally knocked out flash (lol)

Bringing up one of the other points of magic. Kryptonians are very vulnerable to magic, and guess what? Diana is magical. Her lasso is magic, her outfit is magical, her very creation is magical. Doesn’t matter what origin you use, magic is used. That is something that can be used to turn the tides of the battle toward her.

Another thing I’d like to address. Someone saying “But Diana is vulnerable to bullets!” And what is something she does in most of her media? Block bullets. She’s blocked bullets blind and entered the speed force. Not to mention had deflected an infinite mass punch from Zoom. And I don’t think Superman is going to be shooting at her mid-fight.

To sum this rant. Wonder Woman wins against Superman even though he’s barely stronger and faster since she’s a better fighter and is able to use his weaknesses against him.

(I forgot to add, with her ability to talk to animals she could just convert Krypto to fight Clark.)
