An up-and-coming college band needs a new lead singer, and Tyler Joseph appears to fill the mantle. At a time where everyone is hitting rock bottom, it seems like maybe this could be a good thing — to everyone but Josh, that is, who feels that in no way does the new guy make up for the loss he’s suffered. Ultimately, they have two choices: settle their grievances with each other, or lose everything they hold close.

2-D takes maybe two steps forwards and then stops. He's standing pretty close; he puts his arms behind his back and leans forward just a little, big blank eyes narrowing as he looks Ace over for a moment. Then he leans back again, and his arms drop to his sides.

He's tall, Ace realises. Taller than he assumed he'd be. Tall enough to be taller than him, which normally isn't very easy. And lanky. Very lanky. He has to avert his eyes so as not to make it too obvious that he's slightly intimidated.

A/N: This chapter is largely from Ace's POV! He doesn't get a lot of lore in the context of his brief Gorillaz crossover, so a lot of things are purely based on vibes. Some things are canon: his age (44), and his previous involvement with The Powerpuff Girls as a member of the Gangreen Gang.

Murdoc is gone, and 2-D feels like a weight has been lifted from his shoulders until he realises he doesn't know what to do with himself. 

To 2-D, Murdoc lingers like a shadow. Noodle and Russel worry. And when a new member arrives to fill his place, everyone comes to the realisation that feelings are incredibly complicated.
