sadly (?? is that the right word ??) no. that one came straight from the deepest parts of my pasta-loving soul. and is also a very esoteric reference to one of my favorite videos of all time:
youtube
@thepeekwithpepys I have to know.
Is “pasta-boy“ being used to insult Italians historically accurate???

THE PEEK WITH SAMUEL PEPYS | 004: "Press" Official Website | RSS Feed | Apple Podcasts | Spotify | More
S1 Trailer Link (YouTube) (RSS Feed)
Following their appearance at the King's Theatre Company for The Maiden Queen, word of Valentino's presence in London has begun to spread...as have some rumors our favorite gossip podcaster couldn't help but stir up at the show. Two unwelcome visitors come to confront him about this, and the schemes against Valentino pick up significantly...
Introducing The Peek... The Peek with Samuel Pepys is a scripted fiction, historical-comedy podcast loosely inspired by the diaries of British writer Samuel Pepys (1633-1703), which provide one of the only first-hand accounts of life in England’s Stuart Restoration, under the rule of King Charles II (1660-1685). Written in an irreverent, anachronistic tone. Accents may vary – oftentimes within the same line. But, hey. It's not like we know what they sounded like back then, do we?
What's the Story? A jaded celebrity gossip podcaster asks the question: who the hell invented celebrities, anyway? He then accidentally time-travels to the Restoration Era. Oops. Luckily for him, he’s landed smack in the middle of the home of Samuel Pepys, the famed diarist and known theatre-obsessed freak. The men strike a deal: Pepys will teach the Podcaster all about the Restoration theatre scene and the budding fan culture around actors and playwrights, and the Podcaster will ensure Pepys’ diaries are shared far and wide in the modern day…if he manages to make it back at all, that is.
What are the release deets? Release Schedule: Weekly / Fridays Episode Count: 10 Episode Length: Approximately 15-25 minutes
Who Made This? This episode features the voices of: Charlie B. Foster (Podcaster/Valentino) Ethan Peña Mock (Samuel Pepys) Melissa Bautista (Jane Birch) Celeste Samson (Boy) Alex Ramirez Cannon (Thomas Betterton) Aaron Dorelien (Sir William Davenant) Lee Melillo (Elizabeth Pepys)
The Peek is written, produced, and acted by a group of young, queer, neurodivergent, and/or BIPOC creatives based in NYC, with support from a Queens Arts Grant.

Join us by the fire for PODCAMP 2025

This September, Podcast Book Club @podcast-bookclub is hosting a brand-new audio drama challenge for creators looking for a little bit of adventure. 🏕️
Pack your bags and get ready to be placed in a cabin team with fellow creatives for a whirlwind weekend of podcast-making. Your cabin will have 96 hours from event start to write, record, and edit a one-off episode following a randomly chosen theme.

happy audio drama sunday!
had a busy week and barely got to listen to anything, but i want to shout-out the two utterly fabulous ADs i started on the last few days:
Good Morning Evildoers (@goodmorningevildoers) - genuinely so, so funny. As a #funnyattempter myself, I am in awe of how tightly written this one is and how well-paced the set-ups and punchlines are. Such a perfect pod to have playing while moving through the mundanities of existence, truly had me laughing out loud (sometimes in public!) multiple times within even just the first few episodes.
Hearthbound (by @straylungs) - literally, what can I even say? The production quality in all senses (VAing, music, SFX, audio mixing, etc.) is top-notch and it only amplifies the beautifully devastating world it's cultivated. The original music is both gorgeously sung and written, and the entire show manages to capture the feeling of a requiem and a warm hug simultaneously.
hopefully will have more time to listen this upcoming week! also, just a quick thank-you to everyone who has taken the time to listen to and review the peek so far - have i cried a couple times reading some incredibly sweet comments? maybe so.

this is so funny help ??
the unadulterated giddiness i felt when casting two (2) real-life couples to voice enemies in the peek is probably not normal but i will be giggling about it during the editing process regardless
like i fear there's no better way to elicit more passion from an actor than giving them the opportunity to call their partner's character a sniveling acorn while said partner is trying to hold in their laughter across the room
