Just curious, why is Gina not an FC option anymore?
We were recently made aware of some concerning comments she made that you can read about here and we’d rather not have her in the RP.

Hello members and potential applicants, if any of you are thinking of applying for our lovely Participant #333, she no longer has Gina Rodriguez as a faceclaim option. We’ll be adding a replacement fc suggestion soon, but if you’d like to apply with a different fc, please let us know and we can work things out.

❝ NOW I GET A HOLIDAY, WHEREVER I GO I MIGHT STAY. ❞
Full Name : Vivienne Bonnet
Pronouns : she/her
Participant : #308
Age : twenty-nine
Occupation : Interior Designer
Faceclaim : Antoinette Robertson
TW: Anxiety Mention
There was nothing wrong with Vivienne’s family, in fact, some people would’ve called her lucky. She grew up with two loving parents who were completely supportive and nurturing of her every need, material and otherwise. In a different world, Vivienne could’ve easily been lazy, unmotivated and unambitious – but she was black and her parents were white and she knew from day one that had always been the one thing that just didn’t fit in her life. That was a point of stress from neighbors, random people who gave her and her parents stares from a young age. Everyone had an opinion about it and as a kid Vivienne didn’t understand the complexity of why until she got a bit older. Some would call her ungrateful for even thinking the thought, but when you didn’t look like your parents and more importantly, you hair wasn’t able to be done by her parents – you went for the first four years of your life looking like a mess and having question after question that her lovely white parents could never answer.
It was, finally, the hair salon that Vivienne went to at four years old that filled her life in a way her parents her never could. The women who did her hair and many others were a second family. She appreciated her parents for letting her have this space as well. Having a group of black women who understood her hair helped give her a safe place to be herself where she would get information about the world through people who liked hers, eyes. Her parents were amazing, but they didn’t know how to cherish and help Vivienne understand her blackness because they weren’t black. They taught her about issues, especially housing ones, that her parents tried to shield her from. She knew her parents always had the best intentions, she did, but it didn’t change the impact. As Vivienne grew older and the salon went from a space to another to one of the women coming to her house, doing her hair in the kitchen sink, she realized these women who had given her a second home needed affordable housing as well as more accessible, portable, work stations themselves. A dream was born.
Vivienne wanted to build sustainable, cheap, stylish housing & workspaces for people of color, especially black families and women, who needed it. This was no easy feat, even from a young age when she was playing on the Sims building the insides and outsides of homes & lives, it took effort. It took work. But once Vivienne set her sights on something, she got it. Ambitious was her nature when she wanted it, she did everything in her power to make her dreams a reality. At every school she went to starting in late elementary school, she made sure to work three times as hard as the best student there, she made sure to try to uplift other minorities as she had been uplifted, and she navigated the educational system successfully while black. Single minded in her pursuit, she pushed forward even when the world pushed back. Vivienne took full advantage of anything she was given, and worked for everything she earned – getting acceptance into FIDM. While her end goal was always to make housing projects from scratch, she was extremely drawn to interior design because she felt it was what made a house a home. What made an office space functional. It was her top choice due to it’s location, but also because she felt her design style would be best nurtured by them.
Years of understanding herself and Vivienne knew there would be many more years to come, especially when facing a lot of colorism in college. While she knew the Interior Design world was a very white place, she also knew they seemed to not be ready for a dark skinned black girl to break through the scene – her lighter skinned & white classmates often being better received. Again, she knew she’d have to work three times as hard, ignore her parents comments of ‘C’mon, it’s LA! People aren’t that racist here STILL.’, and remember that her end goal made it worth it. That she was still privileged enough to have the opportunity to do what she did, to study without financial worry, and to just create. The pressure she put on herself was insurmountable and unsustainable for a healthy mindset, but she pushed it away in favor of internships, industry parties and extra credit projects.
In between her sophmore and junior year, Vivienne was diagnosed with GAD. Luckily she was able to get treatment for it. Parts of her felt ashamed for breaking down in the middle of college, when she should’ve been building her resume, building her career – not having anxiety attacks over the work that was supposed to motivate her. Again, it was with the support of both her parents and her second family, now women she called her aunties ( who’s kids called HER auntie ), that she was able to slow down. It wasn’t until Vivienne stopped and learned how to face her weaknesses that she realized she was running from them, using her work as an escape.
Graduating at 25 with a BA in Design, an AA in Interior Design, and a good number of business classes she took with the school under her belt, she immediately went to work on building her own companies social media presence and adding even more to her portfolio as well as having a small job at Disney helping design their new offices as their parks expanded. As her social media following was gaining traction, a few celebrities became fans of her style and hired her to design their homes, offices, everything. It was just the break she needed to put her name on the map as an up and coming interior designer. Vivienne was so excited for the traction she was getting and at 27 was invited to design Erotech’s offices in the East Coast of their new program called The System. It was an interesting idea, but she was happy to move cross country only for a few months as she looked for pieces, traveled and enjoyed her time in New York.
It was the final break that gave her more of a mainstream name in the Interior Design industry, and she could almost see the goal she had been working towards for so long come to life. Especially when Erotech invited her to design the apartments for the West Coast version of The System. The company had the power to truly make change, and they were doing so already with The System – something she was invited into as well and agreed to do out of curiosity. Her love life, while she supposes is important, is not the most important thing in her life – her career is but this at least seemed like a vehicle to help her career. Vivienne has had some serious relationships, though they had never been the center of her life, which seemed to be The System’s focus. While she’s curious to see how it works, how her work looks with people living in it, she’s not sure if even something like The System will be able to change her focuses, goals and aspirations. It’s a means to an end, but also a time to really think about if she even wants love, marriage and everything else that comes with it.

❝ I’M SITTING PRETTY ON THE THRONE, THERE’S NOTHING MORE I WANT, EXCEPT TO BE ALONE. ❞
Full Name : Amira Isabel Acosta
Pronouns : she/her
Participant : #472
Age : thirty one
Occupation : film critic
Faceclaim : Denise Bidot
TW: Death
Born in London to an affluent and well connected family, Amira is both the only girl and youngest of five siblings. Growing up the very definition of her name, “princess”, was fitting as she was very much treated like one. With one family firmly in the world of entertainment and the other invested in politics, she went to the best schools, was involved in the best extra curricular clubs, wore the best clothes and traveled to the most exciting places for vacations. However, where her parents were materistically generous when she was growing up, their idea of love and affection began and ended with a new dress or piece of jewelry. Where she was truly spoiled (with attention rather than objects), was by her paternal grandparents, who had all the time in the world for her where her parents only had time for her brothers. They own the Acosta Theatre Company (comprises of Costa Cinemas, The Acosta Theatres and the Principal Projection Company) and were the side of her family who introduced her to the world of film and the magic of cinema.
Some of her fondest memories from childhood are those where she would spend afternoons with her grandparents watching movies in any number of the locations they owned. Her favourite theatre was the boutique one they owned under the Acosta Theatres umbrella, complete with lavish art deco furnishings and small-capacity rooms. As time went on, the boutique-cinema was selling fewer and fewer tickets and while it made no sense financially to keep it, Mira’s grandparents did so for her. This fondness for cinema and the art of film was what lead her to study creative writing and eventually, a masters degree in Film Criticism. Through her studies (and thanks to her familial connections), she became involved in a number of film festivals as a judge and host, had a columns in renowned publications and was a guest on radio, television and podcasts in the film world. It was through one of those guest appearances that she met an independent producer by the name of Luaks, who she ended up in her only long term relationship with, much to the delight of her parents (“Finally! Mira has a boyfriend!”).
Together, they traveled the world discussing art and film and food They became a regular fixture at industry events, including premiers of some of the most iconic films of recent times and the awards ceremonies that followed. Eventually, they moved in together and for a while, Amira thought that perhaps the whole “love thing” wasn’t a sham only suited to silver screen. It was around that time that things took a turn for the worst. Her grandparents passed away within a few months of one another and suddenly, Mira’s only remaining connection to them was being sold off - a decision made by an uncle she rarely sees. Despite a well-run campaign to save it run by Amira herself, her family sold her beloved boutique cinema to a developer who tore it down and put up a paid private car park in its place. This marked her undoing. She didn’t complete the final component for her degree, broke up with her partner after deciding love wasn’t real let alone everlasting, moved into a studio apartment on her own and let her freelance commitments fall by the wayside.
It took a while for her to get back into the swing of things and now she has started her own website dedicated to art-house and independent film reviews using some of the money left to her by her grandparents; the rest is used to fund her lifestyle while she completes her studies and also (eventually) to invest in her own version of the cinema she loved growing up. While she hasn’t forgiven her family, she placates them by going to the things they ask her to as she is aware it will be easier to achieve her goal with their support. Unfortunately with all of her brothers either engaged or married with children, Amria’s parents are starting to put the pressure on her to give up her “silly dream” and start a family. This matched with their disappointment that she would “throw a man like Lukas away” means that she is obliged to go on dates they set up for her, despite having nothing in common and no interest in her “suitors”. She hopes that by joining the System, she will get to work on her goals in peace with her family satisfied that she is also going to end up ‘paired off’ with someone suitable. She doesn’t believe that The System will work for her, in terms of finding some kind of love-match, but she is optimistic that it will work in the way she wants it to.

❝ PLEASE SEE ME REACHING OUT FOR SOMEONE I CAN’T SEE. ❞
Full Name : Aditya Das
Pronouns : he/him
Participant : #310
Age : thirty
Occupation : Teacher
Faceclaim : Rahul Kohli
Aditya is the oldest of two children, but never had to deal with the pressure that followed the title of the oldest. He much preferred to fly under the radar and let things happen naturally. His sister on the hand was the one to seize opportunities, which he did not mind one bit. Their parents gave them a modest lifestyle, no silver spoons were present in their upbringing, nor did they didn’t force their kids to act a certain way, instead they let them find their own way in life and filled their childhood with love and happiness.
While his sister took on the title of ‘human sunshine’, Aditya can be described as down to earth, compassionate person with a low boredom tolerance. He had a lot of energy as a kid, always pulling pranks or cracking jokes, with his sister’s bubbly personality and his never-ending energy, their parents never experienced a dull day at home. Those jokes and high energy transitioned into adulthood with a sprinkle of maturity, but all it would take to break him is a clever, little pun.
Aditya never thought teaching would be his calling, especially since passion came late into his career. Teaching was simply something he did to fill his time between semesters and help his mother out. But a few of the kids took a shine to his style, and with not-so-subtle hints from his mother, he changed to a teaching major and didn’t regret it one bit. Plus, all the single parents were suddenly eager to come to parent teacher meetings.
Past Relationships and The System:
If you’d ask any of his ex’s, they’d all say the same; the body of an adult with the heart of a kid. While some found this attractive, others not so much. Aditya doesn’t have any horror dating stories, since most of them ended on a let’s-be-friends note, he doesn’t have any success stories either. If people fall for his immature charm, they freak over the fact he’s in the dating game to find someone to settle with, and others love the commitment part but want someone more mature. Finding the balance is what he aims to achieve from The System.
He didn’t find The System, The System found him, or well more like Erotech found him. He still doesn’t know how, but he was highly intrigued with what they had to offer. Finding a partner based on an algorithm seemed like a lightbulb going off above his head, it seemed perfect. A system to consider what you like and dislike and adjust matches accordingly? It sounded perfect.
The only downside to this was he would miss his kids. Only a few things could truly make him happy; bad jokes and his kids. But Erotech had a way around this, a virtual classroom! That excited him. Aditya is optimistic that The System will work, conventional dating scene had so many downsides and Aditya wasn’t truly happy with any of his relationships, but this was offering to essentially find him a soulmate, he wasn’t going to let this slip by.

❝ THE FEELING, IT'S ALL TOO FAST. YOU WERE POURING YOUR HEART FROM GLASS TO GLASS. ❞
Full Name : Rosalinda Morales
Pronouns : she/her
Participant : #325
Age : twenty-five
Occupation : Video Editor
Faceclaim : Victoria Justice
When Rosalinda Morales was born, she was handed from a surrogate to Sebastian Morales, a vineyard owner, and newly single father. Not one with a lot of luck in the love arena, Sebastian couldn’t find anyone to settle down with but knew he wanted to be a father. Though people usually date, then marry, then have a baby, Sebastian decided it would be fine to skip a few steps if it got him to raise a child that much faster. With the vineyard doing well, he hired a surrogate and nine months later, Rosalinda was a pink-faced crying bundle in his arms. Despite his family thinking he’d lost his mind, he has never regretted his decision.
Growing up with a single father was interesting, but Rosalinda was raised by her father and his family, never wanting for another parent when she had more than enough attention and love showered on her by the family. When she started going to kindergarten, her father was starting to spend a lot more time with a restaurant owner named Scott that they often sold wine to. He would stay over some days and brought Rosalinda her favorite food at the time (macaroni and cheese, which made her fellow kindergarteners very jealous when she brought it for lunch the next day) and talked her dad into going out more, even if it was just to take a walk with their dog or watch a movie. Scott had a son a few years older than Rosalinda but he was always very quiet while she was creating chaos with every step she took.
Eventually, Scott and her father sat the two kids down and her father fumbled over an explanation of how Scott was going to become her new dad. Rosalinda instantly started to cry, thinking that her father was going to leave her with Scott because he didn’t want her anymore, but once she understood that he was going to be her dad in addition to her father, her tears slowly came to a stop. Losing her father would have been terrible, but getting another parent didn’t actually seem too bad. With the wedding later that year (held at the vineyard), her family doubled with a new dad and a brother.
In her family, Rosalinda wasn’t always sure how she fit in. Even though she was there first, her father and her new brother Elliot seemed to bond right away, leaving a gap between her and her father that wasn’t previously there. Scott was her dad, through and through, but some days she missed when it was just her and her father (though they were very distant memories). It wasn’t that she resented Scott and Elliot, but while the three of them were so alike, Rosalinda felt left out with her too loud opinions and high energy. When she was at home, she started to catch herself before she spoke, lowering her tone, resisting the urge to run towards her dog as soon as she got inside the house. She became restrained, muted, and hoped she could squeeze herself into the quiet family with more success.
At school was a different story, Rosalinda was more herself (though she preferred to go by Linda at the time) and held the attention of most of her classmates with her jokes that rolled off the tongue a bit too easily, sometimes slipping out and landing her in detention when a teacher was too close by. But making kids around her laugh gave her too much of a high to stop, only serving to make her louder. Though she felt loved at home, she felt wanted at school.
One of the first people Rosalinda dated was a bit of a jock who called her by her last name, and before she knew it the rest of her friends were calling her Morales too. It was senior year and the two were inseparable, or so she thought. When his eyes started wandering to other girls, Rosalinda noticed. She could feel him slipping from her fingers and was desperate to hold on to the person she felt most wanted by. She started to dress like the other girls her boyfriend had been interested in and for a while, it worked. She held his attention up until prom when he dumped her for one of the cheerleaders he’d never quite stopped eyeing and Rosalinda found herself at a loss, suffocating in a peach cashmere sweater she never really wanted.
It wasn’t really something Rosalinda did on purpose, but when she started dating someone, she would often shape herself around her partner (or partners) to settle into the relationship more easily. Even if she wasn’t as into French films as her boyfriend was her freshman year of college, she still sat through them and tried to decipher what was going on between the various sex scenes and shots of trains because he didn’t like using subtitles. And a few years later when her girlfriend at work was really into working out and staying in shape, Rosalinda renewed her gym membership and signed up for the same classes, even if she had no interest in learning how to rock climb. It wasn’t always easy to do, but she made herself malleable, trying to fit their missing pieces she desperately wanted to fill. It wasn’t until she started dating a couple that really wanted to have a kid that she realized she couldn’t keep compromising what she wanted for what her partners did. After that breakup, which was particularly hard on her, she decided to take some time to herself and dove into her work.
While Rosalinda was in school (with an undeclared major), she took on side jobs editing videos for Vidoxers who couldn’t do it themselves and found herself liking it more than the classes she was starting to regret taking. When she saw an opening for an editor at the media company Impulse she jumped at the chance to have a stable job in something that seemed more exciting. The hours were grueling but she could work from home as long as she got the right amount of videos out at the end of the week. The videos ranged from serious topics to silly ones, always keeping her on her toes, and eventually, she dropped out of school to work at the company full time. Her dads weren’t too happy about it but understood that business would never quite keep their girl happy, which was why they decided to start training Elliot to take over the company to take over work on the vineyard. It hurt a bit, knowing that what was eventually supposed to be hers was handed to her brother, but she still owned half of it in name and he never let her feel left out, even if she was the only one in the family who couldn’t actually stand the taste of wine.
Elliot actually so adept at running the vineyard that when he made a deal to supply Erotech with wine for their upcoming venture they extended an invitation to him to join their latest dating experience, but he was already in a relationship at the time. After seeing Rosalinda lose steam while she was on her own for so long, he passed the invite along to her, hoping it would wear off the sting of him taking over the vineyard. With flexible work hours and nothing much else tethering her to her current life, Rosalinda packed her bags and let her bosses know she’d be available at a new address soon, with a big story once she was done. She’d never produced a video on her own, but after watching the people in her office, she was sure it couldn’t be too hard to give it a shot.
Though Rosalinda had come to like herself without any romantic attachments in the past year, she’s a bit afraid she’ll fall back into molding herself into someone her matches want her to be. Her one hope is that The System will match her with someone she won’t have to change herself for.

❝ ALL THAT I WANT IS A HOLE IN THE GROUND. YOU CAN TELL ME WHEN IT'S ALRIGHT FOR ME TO COME OUT. ❞
Full Name : Maria Eugenia Figueroa
Pronouns : she/her
Participant : #406
Age : twenty-six
Occupation : Telenovela Actress
Faceclaim : Eiza Gonzalez
TW: Drug Use
Maria Eugenia was born in the middle of a family full of renowned actors and writers, so it was not a surprise when she decided to throw herself into the entertainment business from a very young age. Eugenia had just turned five years old when she landed her first starring role in the insanely popular children’s telenovela, Un Mundo Color Rosa. She began making a name for herself from a young age, and while her family connections certainly helped, she soon began a high-profile career as an actress.
Brands soughther in order to sponsor her, designers begged for her to wear their clothes, and her club of fans grew every day. She went from child star to teen idol, and then flourished into a leading woman that was able to carry a telenovela on her shoulders and make sure it would beat rating records. Headlines boasted about how she was on her way to dethroning figures such as Adela Noriega and Victoria Rufo as the queens of telenovelas. Her face could be seen in every magazine and tabloid in Mexico. And so, her personal life was something people focused and latched on. This didn’t come as a surprise to her. Maria Eugenia had practically been on magazine covers since she was inside her mother’s womb, so she was sure being on the spotlight and not truly having a private life wouldn’t bother her. But, she was sorely mistaken.
Every time she was seen with a man, she was on the verge of getting married. According to tabloids, Maju surprisingly managed to date every single one of the leading men she worked with. Dealing with this kind of rumors was easy sometimes, but other times, her coworkers were married or in relationships and she was forced to go on a quick tour, visiting gossip and morning shows in order to deny the allegations magazines published. Dealing with magazines lying about her being pregnant was tedious, but that was nothing compared to the scandal that made her reputation crumble.
Maria Eugenia had just finished filming when a magazine published incriminating pictures of Maju snorting cocaine. Seeing the leaked images completely shocked her. She didn’t release a statement condemning the media for lying or wanting to tarnish her image. She couldn’t deny anything, because technically, the pictures were one hundred percent real. Her management team scrambled their heads thinking of a way to get rid of this scandal, but Mju beat them to the punch and came clean. In an emotional post on her instagram, she confessed that due to her hectic schedule and massive amounts of workload, she had begun snorting Adderall—not cocaine—in order to be able to deal with everything.
While some loyal fans showed their support, most people showed complete disdain towards her. She was destroyed in the media, making her go from Mexico’s sweetheart to a spoiled rich girl that had started doing drugs in order to add some spice to her privileged life. The phones that had once rung for hours with job offers waiting for her, now remained silent unless some sensationalist publication wanted a statement from her.
Seeing how those photos had affected her career forced Maju to leave Mexico and move to Miami. Due to her name and the controversy and attention still surrounding her even months after the scandal had first broken out, she was able to land a starring role in a telenovela. She went to rehab and therapy and began making improvements in her life, but this wasn’t enough for the public to forgive her and take her back again with open arms. Her new project was far from the successes she was used to, which prompt her to take a break in order to focus on her personal life. She had spent years putting work first, so now it was time for her to heal and focus on her well-being.
A friend working for Erotech suggested she could perhaps try their new beta program, and that was how she got involved in The System. She had seen Maria Eugenia struggle with relationships for years, so now that she was taking some time off from her career, it seemed like the perfect time for her to try something like this. As a closeted romantic, Maria Eugenia was thrilled to have a chance at finding the one, even if she didn’t show it.
As she grew older, her family began wondering if she would ever settle down. While they understood that her career was important and being part of show business could keep someone from experiencing the dating scene properly, Maju’s parents wished they could see their only daughter become someone’s wife. As old-fashioned as that sounds, Maria Eugenia wants that too. Her acting career was very rewarding in various aspects, but one thing it didn’t benefit was her dating life. Maria Eugenia hopes this miraculous software will not only help her find happiness in the arms of someone that will understand her and her demons, but will also put an end to her family’s questions in regards to her ever settling down.
