I love isekai stories with Reader inserts but 👀👀👀
Readers who the main characters only find interesting because they've completely flipped as a person and just give top energy 24-7 so hard they've lk began to become somewhat of an icon in the kingdom.
Villainous character (isekai'd Reader) who instead of plotting, opts to get drunk with their advisor and knights in the slums. Instead of attending the ball that the main character ends up stealing the spot light Reader is on the other side of the city telling people that they'll give a gold piece for each rotation someone can complete while upside down on their head. (They've got the civilians break dancing in the street while the main characters are lk awkward and bored having no villain to push them all together.) They don't have time to make others' lives messy while trying to balance the shit they end up getting themselves into. Cue scene of black out drunk Reader falling asleep in some random cart (it ended up being up a box), and shipped to a foreign country. Cue traveling crew to panic about the fact they've kidnapped an important figure. Cue Reader slowly putting the lid back on the box much too hungover to deal with anything at the moment.
Shy Meak Prince/ess character(honestly a non royal character would go so hard) (isekai'd Reader) who suddenly begins to go missing every now and again and one day disappears altogether. The kingdom thinks they've been captured or worse but in reality they have a hard time falling asleep and opt to fall asleep next to a creek not knowing that venturing into the forest meant attracting the attention of beasts and monsters that lurked. Is Reader scared, fuck no? This is they're fucking moment, bitch grew up on how to train your dragon, this is their fucking moment. Enter Reader returning after a week. Mostly fine, a few nips, and bruises. Hair a mess and dirt caked but what really shocked people were the not one but two mystical beasts following closely behind them. (Or they just reappear. Nobody knows anything about the beasts as Reader tries to hide their newly made friends from the other characters).
Tailor/Seamstress/or? (Isekai'd Reader) who's blunt as hell and with horrible brain rot from their own world and just opts to not speak in the presence of others. Others think of them as just a wise and mysterious character with an excellent set of skills for design and fashion. Enter the mind reading character who's just absolutely shook about the absolute unfiltered filth that is coming from the reader as they get fitted for an upcoming ball.

Reader iskaid into the body of a healing princess whos sent off to war and who's death starts the begining scene of the graphic novel. Fortunately she doesn't end up dying and discovers new forms of magic, healing, mixing those with the media she was exposed to in her own world for new and deadly combat techniques. She and her brigade that was sent to the most dangerous hot spots in the war (thanks to the kings evil advisers plotting for the throne) surprisingly survive under her guidance.
As the last war raged the battle filled began to still as the returning party counted heads the Commander was thought to be dead. When returning to the capital, the news spread quickly. All have different reactions to it. The same goes for when she makes her way to the capital traveling at night under the shadows of the darkness with five of her most trusted comrades. Arriving at her own memorial service cover in dried blood, scars peaking through torn leather, and as she walked up to the king many of the palace guards shivered in fear. They heard the story's of their friends and family coming back home, heard the maids whisper, and most of all they saw the sight in front of them now seemingly confirming all of it. Some even were said to leave their post completely or soiled themselves on the spot as she headed for where the king and the rest of her sibling stood. She stopped on the other side of the empty casket. She exchanged a few and I mean VERY few words with her father before returning to her chambers.
Now the real story begins.
How will the time at war change the peoples opinions of the second princess? How would it change the reader herself? How will the interaction with her sibling play out now that they've been served the cold reality that she could have very well died? How will they react to finding out she almost did on multiple occasions? How will the Male Leads react to the princess's change in behavior towards them and everyone else as well?
ANNNDDD OOOOOOHHHHiiiiiEEEE I'm so excited. But I'm still going back and forth on a lot of things. But tell me what you think, so far, please. And don't be too harsh please this isn't a prologue or it's just a mind dump I've shared so I can come back to later while also getting some helpful opinions in some cases. Are they're any other questions you can think that you might want to see answered. Tbh I'll probably be doing this a lot just because I'm so fucking forgetful and indecisive. The top is also heavily unedited.

I need people to understand that the reason shy and passive fem readers in fanfic tend to make you uncomfortable is not because "woman don't act that way" it's because infantilization.
Infantilization in fanfic is so normal that a lot of ya'll don't recognize it when it's happening. Woman in real life are shy/introverted, they keep to themself and aren't always super confident. They're awkward and a mess, and it's okay to want to write woman like this in fanfic.
The problem is when fanfic write woman in a way that's meant to make them seem childish. We as adults often associate intense shyness and passivity as childlike behavior, so when we see other adults acting this way we assume they're pushovers or not grown. This isn't inherently a problem, but when you pair these behaviors with other forms of infantilization like a weird obsession with plushies or toys, hyperfemininity, or even a weird age gaps, it comes across as you trying to make woman seem like children, and that's the issue. It's not that these things are inherently childish, let me make that clear, but when you pair all these things together, it really makes it seem like you're just trying to sexualize these behaviors/traits without seeming like you are.
I talked about this more on my rant blog, but fanfic, especially fem reader fanfic, can't help but infantilize and play into harmful stereotypes about woman and it makes me incredibly uncomfortable. I think there are a lot of very harmful porn/male gaze stereotypes that we're seeing in fanfic that people don't really acknowledge or recognize as bad because it's mainly being written by women. This is not me saying you can't write smut, but when most smut contains heavy infantilization, objectification, some things that are just flat out misogyny, it makes me wonder how many woman would be uncomfortable by these same things if they were in a different medium.
I don't know, I've just been seeing a lot of people lately complain about how "annoying" fem Y/n's have been lately and I wish people were able to acknowledge that this is less of a problem with the authors writing these self inserts, and more of problem with how fanfic views and objectifies women.

I'll admit that i mindlessly scroll through socials to distract myself, but for how long can I avoid these posts? How long can I delude myself that everything will be fine? How long can I tell myself that the world will stop this cruelty? How long can I tell myself that this is only going to happen to Palestinians? That Israel wouldn't jump at the first chance they get to do this to you and me? That the fact that we're not in the shoes of Palestinians is because of pure luck?

Bro where are the stories where Toru and Sugu are actually in love and obsessed with you, not bullying you and fucking you like its all they can do?? And like actually try to meet your standards instead of you meeting THEIR standards?? Like they kiss the ground you walk on and do what you want, instead of making you be what THEY want you to be?
They keep you in the house, but because of how they miss how happy you'd look before isolation, they take you out on night drives and you guys hang out all night??? Like they don't push you and let the Stockholm syndrome do it's thing? WHERE IS IT!!??

men who can’t help but slut themselves out a little bit around you because they just like you so much!
they’re constantly making sure they’re dressed in clothes that fit their physique in the most flattering/revealing way whenever they find out you’ll be tagging along for drinks. they spritz on the cologne that you once commented you liked on them, and make sure to lean in slightly when you talk to them so that you can undoubtedly catch the scent of it.
they laugh at your jokes and flutter their eyelashes all pretty-like while they’re listening to you and are paying attention extra hard. are fixing their hair in the mirror whenever they go to the restroom even though they’d never bother otherwise. are draping their arm across your chair, pretending they’re just trying to get more comfortable. even the sound of their voice changes slightly whenever they’re focused on you.
also, they show off their neck by undoing the top button of their shirt and sometimes readjust their belt, hoping that you’ll take a peek while they do it.

When I was in middle school, I tried to learn how to crochet. I knew how to knit already, so I figured ‘how hard could it be’ and used my Christmas money on a brand new set of aluminum hooks and a how-to book.
To say it was difficult was an understatement. I spent hours pouring over my book, begging to gain some inkling of understanding from what felt like incomprehensible runes. My reward? One lopsided trapezoid of lumpy fabric and a resolve to never pick up a crochet hook again.
And so life went on, I finished middle school and high school without giving crochet so much as a second glance. In college, I read about how crochet couldn’t be replicated by a machine, it was unique in a way that knitting and many other fiber arts weren’t.
For Christmas last year, my girlfriend gave me what I now consider to be my most prized possession: a crocheted plush of my favorite pokemon. I raved over her skills and, since she never learned how to knit, we decided to have a yarn date at some point and teach each other our respective skills.
We never did get around to that yarn date. She passed a few months after our declaration, leaving me to inherit what was left of her yarn.
Nearly a decade after my initial attempt, I got ready for the toughest battle of my life. My weapons? One skein of yarn, a YouTube video, and a crochet hook that I had somehow never gotten rid of.
I slowly made my way through the video, redoing my work a couple times until I was satisfied with my product: a small, slightly misshapen rectangle.
I looked at my pristinely-made pokemon plush with hope for the first time in months and thought to myself, ‘maybe crocheting isn’t the hardest thing in the world, maybe you were just 12.’
Maybe this isn’t the hardest thing in the world. Maybe I’m just 21.
