Imagine if trees gave off wifi signals, we would be planting so many trees and we'd probably save a lot of animal habitats and protect their ecosystems. It's too bad they only produce oxygen, the stuff humans need to breathe. This is the 4th prompt in a drawing challenge I'm doing. Although I haven't done all the prompts so far, it's been so fun to draw stuff out of my usual and experiment with 'coloured pencil' brushes. Our earth is warming up. It's bringing catastrophic climate change in the form of severe floods, more frequent bush fires displacing animals and destroying their habitat. We need to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by mid-century to keep the global temperature below 1,5°C.⁣ ⁣ Now is the time to change it all - the government, businesses and individuals must all take unprecedented action. We must take bold steps to preserve and protect our earth - to enable us, our kids and our kids' kids to survive on this planet. We're in the 3rd year of a global pandemic. For those of us lucky enough to get access to life saving vaccines, I understand that some people are longing for "normal life" to resume. But in reality, as much as we desperately yearn for pre-covid life to return, we're still officially recording thousands of cases daily. It was announced today that further restrictions would be wound back including mask rules and some isolation requirements. Although mask wearing is a small hindrance, they are very effective at limiting the spread, so as a healthcare worker, the winding back of these rules certainly makes me nervous, considering we're expecting a big resurgence of flu to come back too.⁣ ⁣ Meanwhile, this entire time, we've still been expected to turn up to work and exceed performance targets. We're still expected to be the supportive wife/mother/girlfriend/sister/friend. There's a literal war going on in Ukraine. The crazy rises in rent, petrol and living costs in general has everyone stressed. Not to mention the impending interest rate rise(s) and a federal election coming up! We're mentally, physically and emotionally burnt out. ⁣ ⁣ It's OK if you're not feeling 100%. I'm certainly not. Take time out to look after yourself. Drink plenty of water and prioritise sleep. Speak with a trusted friend, family member or seek professional help. Hug your dog (or cat if they let you, lol), take a walk and smell the beautiful flowers.
