Derek can’t believe what he’s seeing. He blinks once, twice, ten times in a row thinking he’s seeing double but no. A few feet away there stands Stiles and the exact copy of Stiles.

He didn’t know much about Stiles before moving away to New York but he didn’t ever remember seeing or hearing anything about him having a twin brother. All he remembers is a spastic teen with pretty eyes who sometimes hung out with his betas and got into trouble with the McCall kid.

And now there’s two of them. Adult versions. He has a feeling he won’t come back alive from this pack meeting.

Or the one where everyone is alive and well but Stiles randomly decides to shock everyone by introducing his twin brother who had been living with his mother the whole time

The first time they sleep together, Derek's lips instinctively find all of Stiles's moles

"You know, they say moles are where past lovers have kissed you."

Derek kisses Stiles's ankle, knee, hip, jaw, and back.

"That's silly."

It's like he's mapped them all before.

"Yeah, silly."

The first time Stiles kisses Derek, it’s an accident.

Kind of.

He meant to say something cool, maybe make a dumb joke about werewolf pheromones or the full moon doing something to him - but instead, he just… kissed him.

In the middle of the loft. Mid argument. Mid sentence.

Derek freezes. Stiles panics.

“I - I didn’t mean to do that,” Stiles blurts. “Okay, that’s a lie. I definitely meant to, but not like that. Not mid ‘you're being emotionally unavailable again, Derek,’ because wow, what a mood killer, right? And-”

“Stiles.”

Stiles snaps his mouth shut.

Derek’s looking at him like he’s something wild and untouchable and also the only thing keeping him grounded.

“I’m crazy about you,” Derek says simply.

Stiles blinks. “What.”

“I have been. For a long time.”

“Oh.”

Beat.

“Wait, like…crazy crazy?”

Derek smiles - actually smiles - and takes a step closer. “Like, can’t-think-straight-when-you’re-around, your-voice-is-my-favorite-sound, I’d-follow-you-into-a-burning-building crazy.”

Stiles, for once in his life, has no words.

So he kisses him again.

This time, totally on purpose.

And Derek kisses him back like he’s been waiting forever.

Because he kind of has.

so okay, just picture this for a second real quick 

derek shifting into wolf!derek on the back porch of the rebuilt hale house with stiles by his side, and their daughter giggling next to them, clapping her small hands together because “daddy went doggy!” 

derek can’t even feel any form of irritation about the fucking dog joke because it came from his daughter, who is happier than ever, making grabby hands at stiles, squealing “up, up, up!” 

and derek, just, he’s fucking wagging his tail for fuck’s sake because how could he not when he has everything in the world right there next to him: his daughter wrapping her arms around his furry neck, giggling in his ear, stiles absolutely beaming at the both of them, looking dazed and awed, eyes full of absolute love

derek can’t help but whine, overwhelmed with all the fucking emotions, and just butts his big head against stiles’ stomach, trembling when he feels hands so familiar slide over the top of his head, scratching and rubbing just behind his right ear

a huff of air leaves derek as if he’s trying to explain everything in that one breath, and stiles, stiles just knows, understands the meaning, and whispers back with a knowing smile on his face, “i know, big guy. we love you, too.”

my favorite headcanon is i believe that stiles and derek already met each other when they were young. on the day of the fire, little stiles who is waiting for his dad at the station was the only one who sat beside derek for hours when he’s crying alone. but derek was on the verge of going feral so he barely remembers anything, just a faint memory of a kid with a cinnamon scent who made him feel safe. years later when they met again in the woods derek just couldn’t pinpoint why stiles’ scent is so familiar to him, but he’s always instinctively drawn to stiles in the way he can’t even explain. and it isn’t long before he realises he had already made stiles his anchor years ago and that this is his mate.
