Planning on having a pet-friendly wedding?

It is always a great idea to choose to have your fur babies at your wedding. But before you buy your furry friends their cute, little-sized tuxedos, here are some tips on how to make a pet-friendly wedding a success!

• What’s your pet’s personality? Is your fur-baby obedient? Friendly and inviting? More of a modest fellow? Before assigning a role, consider your pet’s personality. Perhaps he’d be an incredible greeter, or that she’s a show-off, consider having her come down the aisle together with your rings joined to her collar. There are ways to include your pet in your wedding, just ensure that your pet can comfortably perform.

• Decide a role for your pet: When choosing a part for your pet, consider the length of time your fur-baby will be “on”.  On the day that you need your pet with you at the altar, you might need to put a favorite nap pillow or chew toy up where the bridal party will stand. If your pet could be a bit more active, you will need to have him welcoming visitors in an open space before your “I dos.”

• Get ready with your pet’s food, waste bags, treats, and remember to keep them hydrated: This is a necessity!

• Consider having a pet-sitter: Remember, you will not have plenty of extra time in your hands to take care of your pet during the event. Hire a professional pet-sitter or a relative that knows your pet well.

• Anticipate downtime: Consider that on a typical day, your fur-babies spend most of their time napping. Make sure that your venue has a space for your pet-sitter and your furry friend to relax, unwind and energize. It is also great to anticipate that your pet-sitter can take her home if necessary.

• Talk to your venue: Communication is key to a successful pet-friendly wedding. Before you start looking for ideas on how to prep your fur-baby for your wedding event, consult your venue. Not all allow animals on site.
