Good morning Insta-fam! A lot of you seem to like the 4-piece Samoan tribal panel painting I did for @__tells which is awesome because drawing/painting our cultural traditional motifs is one of my favorite things! 😁 If you want your own, I do them two ways: handpainted (like the top picture) onto canvas or printed onto canvas. You may have seen the posted video of me painting the canvases in the top picture (it’s in my highlights if you missed it), and in my next few posts I’ll show you the other process: handdrawing then digitally coloring then printing onto canvas for those who are interested in a more affordable option 🤗 I know times are hard for a lot of us, especially those supporting families (like all Polys, right?!) during these crazy shutdowns and taxes and bills and whatnot so if there’s ever a way I can provide a piece of home for those who still want quality work at a more affordable price, I will find a way to present that option 🤗 Much alofas everyone and thank you always for your appreciation just by looking 💛🦋🌺☀️ https://www.instagram.com/p/ButWP-Wne9V/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1uv8mbawmpjz8

Thankfully my husband and daughter were napping during these hours so I had all the space to myself to get lost in the “art trance” that I don’t get to tap into as much since becoming a mom (lol I’m not complaining, just saying!) 🤗 Thank you @__tells for the wonderful opportunity of creating a piece of the motherland for your home! Working on the background for a Tongan 🇹🇴 logo commission and if you look closely, you may notice some missteps... The thing that a lot of people don’t realize about Polynesian designs (even many islanders themselves don’t realize) is that every island has its own flavor, it’s own beat and style. As an artist, I try to tap into the mana of the island I’m working on and channel that in my work but it takes time and a lot of effort, like switching visual languages.
