“Aww, dammit…”

I twisted my pencil back and forth with frustration, my teeth grit as I stared at an empty page.

I have to complete this chapter in two days, or I’ll lose the chance at getting this spot in the Shounen magazine.

Frankly, it was too good a chance to miss.

I, Yuichiro Hyakuya, was a beginners manga artist.

To make it as a manga artist, you either need luck, or you need to assist someone who was lucky.

I was the former.

Mikaela, or Mika, had called me a week ago.

Apparently, he was the editor for some big shot magazine, and a spot had just opened.

His boss, Krul, was hesitant, but he convinced her for me, he even promised to be my editor, for free.

Honestly, Mika’s too nice, and I can’t compromise that with disappointment.

Still…

“I have no idea what to write!”

I crumpled up the piece of paper and tossed it towards the trash can, which I of course, missed.

I need ideas, therefore, I need to study, as much as I hate it.

I swiveled my chair towards my wall of academic novels.

This’ll be difficult.

I heard the door click, and a familiar voice called down the hall, “Yuu, how’s it going?”

I sighed, “Not well.”

Mika hustled his way into the messy room, and I caught the first glimpse of him in ages.

His blonde hair was a bit longer now, and tied back with a careless hairband. It was a bit messy looking, but somehow it made him all the more attractive.

Women always did flock to him.

“Why are you reading shounen manga?”

I jumped in my seat, “It’s research! Research!”

Mika stole the book from my hands, “Okay, but shouldn’t you be reading shoujo?”

What?

Mika noticed my confused look, and continued, “I thought you knew, you’re trying for a shoujo magazine.”

I flashed him a dirty look, “That’s a girls magazine, with pink, and romance, and…I don’t know anything about damn romance! I did not sign up for this!”

Mika leaned forward, “Well, as your editor, it’s my job to help you.”

“You’ll help me…Get ideas?”

Mika nodded calmly, he was the exact opposite of my frantic mess.

“Here,” he pulled some novels from his bag, “We’ll act out some scenes, role play is how you get ideas best, correct?”

Well, that is true, and I get a lot more emotion in my pieces if I do the action myself. Still…

“Isn’t that slightly embarrassing? Stupid as well?”

Mika sighed dryly, “Just think of it as acting, I won’t think anything of it if you don’t. ”

Think of the deadline…

I crossed my arms, “Alright, let’s do it.”

Mika smiled softly, his attention now towards ‘Cutie Bee,’ a magical girl series.

“Alright,” He closed the book carefully, “The first we’ll do is the kabedon.”

Oh, the hand against the wall pose, even I’ve seen that before.

I grinned knowledgeably, “I’ll be the guy, you can be the chick of whatever.”

Mika sighed, “No Yuu.”

“What do you mean no?”

Mika put his hand out to shush me, “For one, I’m taller.”

“By only an inch.”

“And…The heroine is typically in that position, it’s the best way to get ideas.”

Dammit, I hate when he’s right.

I angrily shuffled towards the closed door, and put my back against it, “I’m ready when you are.”

Mika grinned, and put his arm against the door.

“Hello, Yuu chan.”

My nose twisted with disapproval, “Your acting is too stiff, be more attractive.”

Mika bit his lip, and leaned closer to me, “Hello, Yuu chan.”

I put my hand to my face shyly, and twisted my legs in an embarrassed fashion, ��Mika senpai.”

It looks more like I’m mocking it than getting into it…

Mika’s leaned in closer, our noses nearly touching, “I wanted to tell you, I love you Yuu chan.”

He reached for my black hair and twisted it between his fingers, my heart now beating at a rate faster than normal.

I put my hands in a heart formation, “Mika Senpai, I accept-”

No, that isn't  good enough, it needs something else!

“Tee hee.”

Mika snickered, “Tee hee?”

I pulled out from the formation, “I was trying to make it convincing, jerk.”

Mika smirked in annoying fashion, “Sure Yuu. Now, we should do the heartfelt hug.”

I gave him a thumbs up, “Easy. I’ve hugged tons of people.”

Mika rolled his eyes, “Sure. Are you ready?”

I held my arms out awkwardly in response, and Mika wrapped his arms around me.

He’s so warm…

I dug my reddened face into his shirt, and cautiously returned his embrace.

“I love you, Yuu.”

I hugged him tightly, “I love you too, Mika!”

After embracing for a few seconds, Mika pulled away, his face now an equal red to mine.

Mika coughed, “Ah, well. Good job Yuu. Do you have ideas yet?”

I shrugged, “I’m making progress, I just need one last thing for the emotional climax.”

I took one of the shoujo books from Mika’s bag, and quickly flipped through it.

“Kabedon, boxed lunch, hug…More kabedon…This is boring! They have nothing I can use.”

Mika avoided my eyes, “There is one other thing, though I’m sure you won’t like it.”

I stepped into his line of vision, “What?”

“A kiss.”

I smirked to offset the embarrassment, “Kissing? Can’t say I like that.”

Mika nodded to himself, “Thought so, I figured I’d tell you directly, but I was sure you didn’t want to hear it.”

“You could’ve just told me dir-”

Mika raised an eyebrow, “What?”

I went to my drawing board and quickly scribbled an idea down, “We’ll have a indirect kiss, that way, it won’t be weird at all!”

Right? Not weird!

Mika scratched his nose, face still red, “As long as it’s indirect. What do you plan on using?”

What should I use?

“A sheet of paper.”

Mika snorted, “Is it because it’s right in front of you?”

I threw a crumpled sheet at him, “It’s a good idea, I swear. A manga artist kissing his editor is pretty damn original.”

Mika’s eyes widened, “You’re writing about us?”

“It was an example!”

Mika nodded, though he obviously didn’t believe me, “Fine. Are you ready, Mr. Manga Artist?”

That smug jerk, always taking charge…

I stopped over to Mika and tugged him to my height, “I can ask the same of you, Mr. Editor.”

I pulled Mika into a paper kiss. The “indirect barrier” didn’t do much however, and I could easily feel his soft lips on mine.

He isn’t bad…

Mika realized what I was doing and leaned in, his blonde hair falling on his shoulders as we embraced.

“Mmn…”

After what barely felt like a second, I pulled away, my mouth wet and filled with the bitter taste of paper.

“Did you…” Mika wiped his mouth, “Get any ideas?”

I went to my desk and stared at it firmly, “Y-Yeah, definitely.”

Mika smiled and turned to walk away.

“Wait.”

He stopped, “Yes, Yuu?”

I glanced at my messy kitchen, “I only have ramen, but….You can stay for dinner, if you want.”

“……”

“Well?”

“I’d enjoy that Yuu.”
