Time for a post from Andrew!
I've been pretty bad at tumbling lately, so I figured now it's time for me to give it a shot on our blog.
So this weekend was a fun one - went to go work at the Dept. of Ed on Friday, but walked down D Street to find that the building I work in was being evacuated. I overheard some of the workers walking out and heading down the street that there had been a bomb threat, so I gave a call to the gentleman who I'd be meeting with that day, and he told me to just head home and that we could collaborate over email on our project. So I got the whole rest of the day off, got to lunch it up with Alex, and do some relaxing back at the apartment. After Alex got home, we grabbed some Dominos pizza and wings in Tenleytown and hung out with a few of Ryan's friends the rest of the night.
Saturday, Alex and I went down to DuPont Circle to get his haircut at Diego's. He's lookin' mighty fine now, thanks to the masterful work of one of Diego's ladies. Went out for some bubble tea after that, and grabbed some Crisp 'n Juicy chicken for dinner. Probably the best chicken I've had in a while, actually - they weren't lying about the juicy! Headed back to the apartment after that, watched Rat Race, and pretty much chilled.
Today was a lot more active than the rest of the weekend. Headed off to the 11:30 service at the National Cathedral, and got a taste of what we're missing at traditional church services. Let's just say, we'll be sticking to contemporary services from now on, but it was still a cool experience. The cathedral itself is just beautiful, so when the sermon seemed to drone on and on, there was plenty to look at :) We bussed it down to Georgetown for brunch at Hook (where we had an AMAZING croquette sandwich with country sausage, avocado, tomato, and lots of cheese), and made our weekly grocery shopping trip to TJ's after that. Now we're back at the apartment, I got some laundry done, and we're in chillax mode again (no surprise there). Finished watching "Singin' in the Rain" a little bit ago, and thinking about watching "The Shining" now to commemorate Fathers' Day. After all, nothing says ideal fatherly figure like Jack Torrance....

"HEEEEERE'S JOHNNY! HAPPY FATHERS' DAY!"

Bear with us...
Sorry, we've been investing more time into making our personal tumblrs looking spiffy. Nevertheless, we'll start to spend more attention to this one including its appearance, content, etc...
However for now, today's asian count: 167!

UBelong
In May, Andrew and I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer abroad in Cusco, Peru for two weeks. We went with five others from the University of Michigan and all were North Quad residents. We spent those incredible two weeks in different education projects- him with kindergardeners ages 2-4 and me with older students ages 8-18.
The organization we went with has an incredible story. Ubelong (Ubelong.org) hasn't even been around for 1 year yet, but they already have several locations worldwide and projects ranging from education, to healthcare. However, what I found that truly sets them apart is the genuineness of the organization and how closely involved Raul and Cedric are in every aspect of the volunteers, their trips, and the projects.
This past week, the two of us had the opportunity to meet with Raul in Bar Dupont and spent two hours just talking about everything from the origins to UBelong, to our friends, our lives, and our interests. He invited us to film us being interviewed about our experiences in Peru. This past Saturday, we met on the National Mall and hopefully those will be up in the next week or so, so we'll keep you posted!
On another note...did you know that the reflecting has been torn out of the ground and in its place (at least during this 2year renovation) there's only a muddy pit left? Trust me, it looks just like CRAP.

Personal Tumblrs
So because we're quickly becoming tumblrholics (?), we also have personal, separate tumblrs for the hell of it. Also, because I think I ramble too much to post here and need even more space to talk about my life sans Andrew.
But for reference!

Upper Respiratory Infections
Monday, June 13th...
Today started out great for us. We caught the bus right away with no wait time needed AND we didn't have to pay for the bus miraculously!
After a pretty standard Monday by both of our standards, if not a little dull, we convened in Rosslyn, VA and had the amazing Chop't for lunch. This was my second time at Chop't and the second day in a row and I'm still in love with this place. I never knew I could become so stuffed off of just a salad!
Afterward, we headed off to Frontline Arlington the satellite Monday night services geared towards young professionals as part of the McLean Bible Church. I was thoroughly impressed with the service from its great music and the hilariously awesome pastor.
I'd been having a cough since the end of March and it's still ongoing. However, recently, it's been taking a turn for the worse and my sore throat was much worse today. Andrew pulled out WebMD on his iPhone and diagnosed me with an Upper Respiratory Infection. He's put me on a strict regiment of acetominophen, ibuprofen, and A SHITTON of water. Now I'm going to end this post quick because I have to pee and then drink more water.
But.... the asian count for today! Rosslyn is just overrun by asians! I started at around 16 when I got there...by the time I got home my total count for the day is: 138!!!

We have a blog!
So probably a month too late, we finally set up a blog!
That way we can keep the general public informed of our supposedly amazing adventures. And although many of you probably don't care. We do. So that's why we made it.
Beyond a summation of places we are and you aren't, we plan to post daily pictures to feed our vain egos and also the daily asian count!

Asian Count!
What started as a friendly competitive game of who can count the many asians they see has quickly grown into one of my favorite hobbies throughout the day.
Therefore, Andrew and I have begun adding up all the asians we see in a day and the grand total for today is.... 50!
Also, lucky number 50 goes to "Allen Kim". Not really the Allen Kim from Ann Arbor, but a guy who lives in the Berks (our apartment, The Berkshire) who we think looks like him!
