"American names are not my specialty. You’re all Johns and and Franks to me. So plain and hard to pronounce."

"José Luiz it is then."

"But, I don't know how well I'll be able to pull it off. My Spanish is... I think 'nonexistent' is the word I'm looking for."

"Have any suggestions?"

"You should get that fixed."

"Calm down. What's wrong with Luci? She's a friend and when you..." He'd almost said 'when you hurt me', but stopped himself. "She was there when you didn't want to be."

Even as he said those words, Dem felt the weight of guilt behind them. They carried more than just the shallow meaning. They carried much more than comfort during a tough time - they carried the truth.

"You told Lucille?! Naveen and Ronan I can handle but that little h-" Evan cut herself off before she could call the other woman a hussy. Evan didn’t hate Lucille, she just thought that she spent too much time with Demetri and it was getting on her nerves.

"Josh wouldn't have left his brother behind. He has bonds and ties here, like family. As far as I've been told, I don't. And don't worry, it's been a long time since I took anything from you personally."

"I'll only buy you drink if you're nice. And I don't want sponsor. Patrons dictate what you make and commission stuff. I want to make what want and if people don't like it, tough."

"It would have been polite. And I bet Josh would have love to have gone. I’m never interested in art. Don’t take it personally."

"Well, looks like you have tons of money to buy me a drink now, doll," she purred, batting her lashes at him. "Isn’t a gallery opening where you wine a few rich people and meet them to become your art sponsor?”

"I don’t know what to think. I wouldn’t want to jump to conclusions.” Evan was being rather snarky about it.
