These order meetings are quite possibly the only time Eolas gets to casually tear holes in the composure of her fellow Jedi under the guise of a simple string of questions. So of course, she took full advantage of that. As always.
Thank the stars Rook was off probably getting into trouble and dragging Kira with her. " Unfortunately yes. He's a regular class bastard if you truly want my input. "
One must be deliberate with their words... Yes. That is definitely a rule she knows. Mmhhmm. The woman tucked her arms behind her back as they walked, masking her amusement at Obi-Wan's all too serious demeanor.
This was Master Qui-Gon's former student ? Oh she had to crack this guy.
" Oh please do, I could use the entertainment. "
@timestcpper sent / "God, that guy's such an asshole " From Master Eoli to Obiwan
It's not how Obi-Wan would have worded it, but he certainly shares the sentiment. The nod of his head as he arches his brows is subtle, but it's there, eyes tracking the small pairs and clusters of their fellow Masters as they mill about the courtyard engrossed in conversation.
"He's not the easiest of people to negotiate with, no," he agrees in what he would like to believe is a slightly more tactful manner, folding his arms across his chest. He's been doing this song and dance for a long, long time: one must always be deliberate with their words. "Have you had many dealings with him before?" For the man's own sake, he hopes not, but, oh, "the stories I could tell."

@sungtales said: " If he’s willing to pay for it, he’s going to get it ! " from Ace...
Jedi didn't usually make a habit of teaming up with smugglers. Key word: Usually. Eolas, Rook, and Kira needed a way off of Coruscant, and Ace seemed to agree to that just a little too quickly. Though, there really isn't any valid reason past that point as to why they're still willingly aboard Ace's ship.
" Sometimes I really can't tell if you are speaking of a shipment or a hit. "
The intrigue was there though, both in the captain and his outlandish string of jobs and side quests... The jedi rounded the chair she had been leaning against and took a seat, resting her chin in her palm.
" Care to enlighten me ? "

Stars. Possibly the only constant left in the elf's life as of late. Everything else was changing far too quickly, all the way down to the dirt she dug into with the heel of her palms a she rested back. The last place they set up camp at was more mud than it was anything else, a cold, wet, cakey kind of earth... Here it was dry, much more like sand or dust. She's sure no other soul in this band of outcasts is paying attention to the feel of the damn dirt...
Well okay, there was Alistair too. The only other warden on this side of Thedas as far as she knew, and quite possibly the strangest man she's ever met.
" The Ass ? "
That's certainly a new one. Eolas turned to look at him, saw that stupid grin on his face, and broke. She covered her mouth with her hand to muffle the laugh that escaped her throat, shaking her head. " Well now you'll have to point the rest out to me later if they all have such, entertaining names as that ! "
She actually had to think to answer his question though. She tried to call back to any of the teachings she had been given when she was young.. Younger. " Not particularly. We certainly don't search for mules in the night sky, that's for sure. "
Nope. She got nothing. Another part of history unknown to her, probably unknown by any elf her age, really. So much culture, so many stories, gone the same way of the city of Arlathan.
" But, now you have my attention. Anything else I should be looking for up there Alistair ? An unsightly feline ? A peculiarly shaped fish ? "
@timestcpper sent / " It's going to be a clear night. The stars will be out soon. "
It's been a clear day, cloudless and sweltering - fitting, then, that the sunset seems to set the sky ablaze with fire. Time has started to feel different to Alistair as of late: when he sees the sunset his only thought is that it night that follows it will be fleeting, morning all too soon to come, and then they will be back on the road where for every town they pass the Blight will overtake another three.
He's sure her thoughts are much the same. He spends much of his time, lately, thinking about how she must be feeling in the wake of all this. Maybe that's why she points out the stars, instead. He's, as always, grateful above all that she's here. It's something reliable to fall back on - they are the only Wardens in the camp, and maybe in all of Ferelden, and so no one else understands so clearly what the other is feeling. When they are in need of levity, distraction, as opposed to when they instead can do nothing but mutually grieve and discuss in quiet voices the tentative shape of the future.
He plops down into the dirt with a weary and overly-dramatic sigh, squinting as he casts his gaze upwards with a thoughtful huh. "Oh, yeah, there's one now. The tail of the ass, I think. I mean, that's what we called it." He shoots her a grin - hard to say if he's making that up or not. And whether he is speaking of the other Wardens or perhaps younger Templar recruits or something from further still in his own past is hard to say. "Give it an hour or so. I'll show you the rest of the ass. I mean - I mean, the donkey. Mule. In the sky - it's the shape of the stars, is all I meant." He coughs, pink and quick to move to a new line of inquiry. "Uh, I don't suppose the Dalish make a hobby of finding asses in the sky, do they?"

I- ( hang on. She's thinking. ) No, Not on you. We are in fact, chill.
Besides, I certainly can't fly this thing, and letting Rook or Kira drive sounds like the worlds worst idea.
( There’s a long pause ) . . not on me , right ? we’re chill , yeah ? we’re chill ?

Unsure. Probably not, though I can't say I haven't tried. Several times.
I see no reason as to why I cannot use the force to explode someone with my mind, and by someone I mean Darth Angral.

" Oh no, you don't have to save face with me there Rook. I am just as much of a stubborn bastard as the rest of them, just.... About normal things like uniforms and fighting styles, not world ending events. " The elf pushed some of the stray hairs that had fallen from her bun away from her face, huffing.
" You've got a lot more faith in him than I do, that's for sure. To the hells with tradition at this point. If you want to get anything moving, a few rules are gonna have to be broken, I learned that really early in. "
Eolas noted the discomfort in the younger warden. It was fair enough, all things considered. Rook dedicated their whole life to this ! By choice ! Of course it's like walking on eggshells saying anything in a negative light... The commander tried to deflate herself a bit, appear less imposing than her shadow gave off. " From what I know of Master Tethras which, regretfully isn't much, I can only assume there's a good chance he's got more faith in you than you do of your own two hands... and you've got good help too. Which, brings me to the actual reason I'm in here. "
Uncrossing her arms and leaning back a bit more, the elf mentally recalled the letter from Morrigan before she accidentally said something stupid.
" If you want it, I am more than happy to offer my assistance, in whatever way you wish it. Even if it's just as simple as having someone to stand menacingly behind you the next time you talk to the senior prick himself... I've been out of the fight too long, and this ? This is gonna require all hands on deck. "
Eolas crossed her arms again as Rook began her rant, chewing on the inside of her cheek. Boy oh boy didn't all of this sound familiar... There wasn't enough time in the world to sit and recount all of the late nights the elf spent around Thedas's most pitiful campfire, pacing and chewing on her nails as she tried to figure out how to lead her friends into what very well could be certain death.
Well, that and the nightmares...
" He's a shemlen coward, Rook- "
The warden caught her tongue and groaned at herself. She was supposed to be the paragon of responsibility here, right ? And here she was, throwing around elvhen insults like a game of catch. It didn't help that her impulse control was back in Ferelden, probably sleeping in for once in his life.
" You stepped up and took on a seemingly impossible task, and despite everything, you're actually handling it better than anyone I've ever seen in your shoes, myself included, give or take 20 years. In peace, vigilance is about to mean a whole lot more than you ever could've expected now Thorne. Trust the team you've built, and don't let power thirsty bastards put a kink in your plans. "

Eolas chewed on her cheek a bit, tips of her ears turning red as she continued to fail at basic social interactions. " Ir abelas, Caspian- " The elf just, picked the bottle up again and quietly poured two generous glasses out for the pair.
She sees why Leliana hated taking her out for drinks so much now. Thedas' least socialized figurehead.
" I couldn't even begin to take a guess. I mean, anything is better than Ferelden Swill, but that bar is far beneath the dirt. Time to find out what the God of Lies choice of drink was. "
" Well, I could name a spell that can open just about anything, but we'd lose a perfectly intact bottle of wine. " The elf winked as she took the bottle, bracing it under her arm. The way he was struggling, she was fully convinced she'd need the extra hold... but then the cork just popped right off. " Ah- "
Well, now she just feels bad. Eolas set the bottle down on the table and rubbed her hands together, her lips a thin line.
" You uh- Hey thanks for loosening it for me !... Anyways. Let's see what ancient elvhen wine is like, yeah ? "

" It was probably said in... harsher words in my case, depending on who you talked to really. I tried to block most of the comments out. " Eolas didn't even want to know what some of her companions were calling her when her back was turned. Not after the comments she had heard from Oghren specifically... To this day, the elf still avoids velvet like the plague.
" No, she's not dalish. That much is obvious from the way they stare at me every time I speak in our tongue. " The warden chuckled to herself, shaking her head. It was the same look she got from her husband, her friends, most she interacted with actually.
" Hmm... I do feel for Bellara. I can't imagine what must be going on in her head, having studied this kind of thing her whole life... but honestly ? I don't think I'm conflicted as much as I am just, angry ? Tired ? I'm unsure of the word for it, but being here and channeling whatever that emotion is into the fight helps. I may be past my own glory days, but that just means I am qualified to help out here with theirs. "
" I suppose it's a necessary feature to have when you've got all of Thedas resting on your shoulders. " From the way she spoke, it almost sounded like the elf was talking from experience, which, was completely true. Eolas rested back in the chair she had planted herself in, crossing a leg over the other. Rook has suggested she 'meet the team' and 'stop staring of into the fade' so...
What better person to try this with than the only person here older than her and Alistair.
" The Evanuris... To think I grew up really believing my gods were looking out for me. For us elves... Gods, I prayed to Mythal before I drove my damn sword through Urthemiel ! Rook may be the strongest goddamn elvhen I have ever met. "
#✧fall back into place... ( threads )#✧verse: hero of ferelden#✧ peacevigilcnce: emmrich#remembered this thread takes place before they find out about the calling thing. Eolas is still working off of a warden lifespan.
