 ...at the end of the 2 days capacity building workshop for Senior Government Officials and Civil Society Organisations, we held in #taraba state on Open Government Partnership and its guiding principles, equitable taxation, fiscal transparency and effective citizens engagement. 

The participants were also engaged on how to access procurement data from the Taraba State Open Contracting Portal (TOCOPO) for procurement monitoring and anti-corruption vanguard. 

Various commitments have been made by the participants and we have committed to the continuous provision of technical expertise and handholding the Taraba state non-state and state actors towards the full implementation of its OGP action plan. We held a capacity building session with senior Taraba State government officials on Open Government Partnership  and its guiding principles, equitable taxation and fiscal transparency. 

We also engaged procurement officers' to improve their technical capacity to ensure required data is uploaded appropriately and timely on in an Open Contracting OCDS format on the Taraba State Public Procurements Portal (TOCOPO)

Present during the sessions were the State and Non-State actors co-chairs of the Taraba State Open Government Partnership.

𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘

The Transparency and Accountability in Totality Initiative (TinT) has announced their upcoming expansion of their remarkable Followtaxes and Shin Kun Sheda? initiatives to Katsina and Nasarawa in addition to the initiatives' work and presence in Taraba, Bauchi, Adamawa, Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Kwara, Abuja and Lagos states in Nigeria. Working and mobilizing citizens and communities to adequately use government open data tools to demand and engage for better delivery of public services and boost the confidence of citizens to pay their taxes.

With the funding support from the US States Department administered by @world-learning​ and @alumnities​,  FollowTaxes will be Following Taxes to Improve Service Delivery in Nigeria. The project will be conducted in three states in Nigeria 28th to 30th June in Taraba; 7th, 8th and 9th July in Katsina; and 12th, 13th and 14th July 2021 in Nasarawa state.

Against all Odds! Hello #Taraba,

We have arrived Taraba state to kickstart the "Following Taxes to Improve Service Delivery Project" funded through an @alumnities​​ small grant from the US Department of State. @world-learning​​

While in Taraba, we shall be conducting an advocacy visit to senior government officials and community stakeholders for community institutionalization and to be followed by a series of capacity building training for Senior government officials, Procurement Officers, and other government officials on the first day; Civil Society Organizations, Business Membership organizations and other coalitions on the second day; and the third day will center on local communities and other excluded communities to drive sustainability.

The Capacity building will center on the World Bank State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) in #Nigeria, Open Government Partnership (OGP), Open Contracting Data Standards (OCDS); Advanced equitable taxation, internally generated revenue;  participatory and community-driven budgeting; and practical community engagement and how to track community projects. The Capacity building will be followed by citizen engagements through community FollowTaxes Radio programs in local radio stations across the states to enhance coverage and drive down further on gender, Persons with Disability and broader social inclusion.
