Brands That Give Back
Meet Lindsey Coco, Founder and CEO of Fashion Fights Back (http://fashionfightsback.com). The tix4cause team (http://www.tix4cause.com/) was introduced to Lindsey from our friends at Conscious Magazine (http://consciousmagazine.co) as she helps with their effort to inspire and empower people to do more.  Lindsey began working in the fashion industry as a Wardrobe Stylist where she learned the tricks of the trade and got the inside scoop working at fashion shoots and shows. Being the social good fashionista that she is, Lindsey found that she got the most joy when she worked with brands that gave back and decided to start Fashion Fights Back. Lindsey is raising awareness for socially conscious designers - one brand at a time!  Lindsey was recently invited to celebrate DKNY’s 25th birthday bash that supported Free Arts NYC (http://www.freeartsnyc.org)! Checkout her story (http://fashionfightsback.com/happy-25th-birthday-dkny/) and be sure to connect with Lindsey to learn more about all the brands having social impact. Thanks for all that you do Lindsey, we cannot wait to read more!

https://www.facebook.com/Coliniseleven Colin's mom wanted to throw him a birthday party. Colin said "No, I don't have any friends."
Colin, who suffers from Asperger's, told his mom there would be no point in throwing a birthday party because all of the kids at school "don't like me" and "make fun of me".
Colin's mom created a facebook page (here:  https://www.facebook.com/Coliniseleven) where you can wish him a happy birthday!

Today we celebrate World Cancer Day, it gives us a chance to raise our collective voices in the name of improving general knowledge around cancer and dismissing misconceptions about the disease. From a global level, we are focusing our messaging on the four myths above. In addition to being in-line with our global advocacy goals, these overarching myths leave a lot of flexibility for members, partners and supporters to adapt and expand on for their own needs.
To learn more, please visit: http://www.worldcancerday.org/

Today we celebrate both Martin Luther King Day and Civil Rights Day.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American pastor, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement.
Awards: Nobel Peace Prize, Time's Person of the Year, Presidential Medal of Freedom, Congressional Gold Medal, Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding, Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album, Spingarn Medal, Margaret Sanger Awards, Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards
Some of his most famous quotes include the following:
"Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?"
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
"In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."
While the awards were deserved and the quotes are beautiful and moving, what we really strive to remember and emulate today were the actions of Dr. King. His non-violence, his strength and his resolve are an amazing picture of what humans are capable of.

Old wedding photographs are helping one Ohio dad bridge the gap between a beautiful though bittersweet past and a hopeful future full of new memories and adventures. In 2009, newlyweds Ben and Ali Nunery -- dressed in their finest wedding regalia -- posed in their new, as-yet unfurnished home in Cincinnati, Ohio, for wedding album photos.
Beautiful series of photographs.

Project HUGS Foundation was founded in 2011 by Dr. Severko Hrywnak. As both a retired M.D. and owner of a surgical facility, Dr. Hrywnak saw an opportunity to give back to his community by providing surgeries for those underinsured individuals in need.
His vision shaped the framework for a unique nationwide network, comprised of doctors, hospitals and surgical centers.
The goal of the Project HUGS network of partners is to meet more of our patients’ needs, all across the country.
As we hope to change the lives of all our patients for the long-term, Project HUGS also continues to grow as a comprehensive program, giving our patients the tools and resources they need to stay healthy, long after surgery.
Through our programs of education, prevention, surgery and rehabilitation, we make sure all of our patients are engaged, educated and aware of all the health options they have, empowering them to live healthier lives.
From providing assistance with navigating the current healthcare marketplace to offering special partnerships with fitness and nutrition centers to our network of doctors, hospitals and surgical centers, we provide a lot of opportunities for our patients to lead the lives they want, in the best ways possible.
Since inception, Project HUGS has led the way in saving and changing the lives of many patients in the Chicago area. As we expand our network, we hope to reach all communities, across the country, ensuring every underinsured person has access to the surgical care and resources they need.
If you’re interested in getting involved, visit our website to learn more about how you can help make a difference in the lives of those in need of our services.
