as a member of minedai twt the common sentiment is less so "we shouldve gotten yk3" and moreso annoyance that this was what we got in general. not to say there weren't people who wanted a specific impossible/otherwise out-of-reach entry in the series (yk3/j3 come up a lot) but i feel like the broader sentiment was annoyance that this was what we were getting. all that being said I believe people should be allowed to voice annoyance without getting harassed (which i have seen happen to several fans on twt) but unfortunately majima fans can be very rabid so here we are. (additionally, theres a point to be made about people missing the older style of yakuza games and how the series is leaning more into the "What is yakuza even about??" memes while still retaining the cast from the more serious titles. beforehand the wackier aspects were pretty clearly cordoned off into the substory part of the game, but judging by this it's going to leak more and more into the main story. It's a matter of taste, obviously, but again I don't believe people should be getting jumped for expressing their opinion on the matter.)

objectively no one should be getting harassed in any capacity over opinions on the internet that's the most like. inarguable sentiment yeah we can agree Great

as for the other bit, i haven't really seen too many complaints about the tonal shift? in fairness, i HAVE seen a fair amount of people upset that instead of this being a historical piece, it's set in the modern era and that makes it 'too goofy', so shrug

again, it's all about preferences and the sort. mates are allowed to be upset if thats how they feel, thats fine

it's important to keep in mind that RGGS is making games for 1) to make money and 2) the ENTIRE fanbase which is way more broad than just the fandom. Majima is and historically has been the most popular character. the gaiden-style game only just proved itself to have potential. of course RGGS is gonna have Majima headline the second gaiden game. Plus the story jumps off IW so people who boarded the franchise with that entry can pick this up without having to worry too much about previous installments. RGGS wants the game to be successful so these choices shouldn't be surprising (one would think...)

TECHNICALLY rgg just said they'd LIKE to make a YK3, they never said it's a definite plan or it'd happen anytime soon: it depends on if mine's voice actor can come back to reprise his role

i feel like a pirate game wouldve worked better with ichiban bc i can imagine him watching too much one piece and then he gets hit in the head in a fight or something and he starts hallucinating him and his friends going on an extensive pirate journey. then he finds the treasure or whatever and wakes up from his coma and his friends are all huddled around him and hes like "guys where did all the treasure go?" and then everyones like "ichiban you've been knocked out for 2 days wtf are you talking about" the end
