My takeaway from season 4 is that Ayo is going to be a STAR. Episode 4 had the best writing by a MILE, it's not even close. It felt so warm and real and I couldn't stop smiling as it unraveled. The bear might have lost its spark but at least it introduced me to the Irish princess.

Right?? It's almost as if he can't handle her being so good at the job. I used to think he looked at her with admiration but now I'm not so sure. It's this weird in-between thing. You'd also think being around someone that talented, passionate and ambitious would inspire him for the better but he just keeps regressing. Him choosing to quit put me off so bad I'm not even going to hold you. Now I'm left wondering if this was their last hurrah or chris is cooking up more diabolical, nonsensical scripts.
SYDCARMY RANT (SEASON 4 SPOILERS!!!)
When carmy plagiarized claire's "because you're the bear" I wanted to reach into my TV and smack him so hard because what in the ever living fck??? It's the sheer audacity that's so mind boggling.
Months and months of barely communicating with his partner, making her feel less than, refusing to collaborate, refusing to budge on choices that were single handedly driving the restaurant into the ground and then THIS. He wants to retire??? In the words of wise man richie "You're retiring? You're 12." He can miss me with that BS. The compliments he threw at syd in that scene felt almost weaponized. Like he just gets to dump this on her and slowly frolic away to God knows where.
Idc what anyone thinks, that was extremely inconsiderate of him. Especially considering the promises he made to syd in season 2, he's definitely leaving her high and dry. This is just not how I expected their story to unfold. Their relationship is the heart of the show and splitting them up feels borderline illegal. Idk if I'm tripping balls but that's just how I feel.
This is open for discussion

SYDCARMY RANT (SEASON 4 SPOILERS!!!)
"I wouldn't even want to do this without you, you make me better at this, you're not alone syd, I left you alone it's never going to happen again"
ALL MEN DO IS LIEEEE
Carmy all of a sudden having an epiphany about how he hates cooking and is miserable in his profession was a hot pile of garbage. Building him up this much only to go ahead and pull whatever the fck that was in the season finale is outrageous really.
Now he's completely blindsided syd and she's utterly heart broken. The anger, hurt and disbelief in her voice during their alleyway scene was so palpable. I really believe she would have broken down into sobs if richie hadn't interrupted them.
Getting done that dirty by someone you have so much respect for must hurt like hell.
Atp idek what this show is anymore. Also fck Claire, we don't like her, stop force feeding her one-dimensional self to us. I'm so tired.
Thanks for nothing Christopher Storer

*SEASON 3 SYDCARMY RANT*

Sydney has been waivering in regards to her commitment to the bear and rightfully so. We've all seen how Carmy continues to disregard her despite him claiming her his partner. He shut down her ideas, he clearly thought himself superior to her skill wise and he was almost always making decisions without her. I mean that fucker has gone full dictator this season and Sydney is just putting up with all of it. She continuously takes the blows and I just keep asking myself why. Why does she continue to stay there, why doesn't she leave him, why is she putting herself through that.
Is it her initial respect and admiration for his skills that keeps her there, is it the blood sweat and tears she put into opening up the restaurant, is it her growing history with him and his family??? What is it about that man that has her so choked up that the mere thought of walking away is so difficult.
In search for answers, I found myself drifting back to the infamous table scene. That was the first time those two core characters were ever truly vulnerable with each other. During the scene, Carmy confesses he wouldn't even want to do it without her. I definitely think Sydney is clinging onto to the promises that transpired under the table that day. She's thinking surely the boy who gifted me this incredibly thoughtful custom chefs coat and told me I wasn't alone isn't irredeemable. She's grown to care for him in her own way so even when he fcks up or acts shitty she sticks by him cause she believes she knows his heart.
Carmy might not notice he's slowly loosing her but he is. He's too far in his head and because of that he fails to see how he's destroying her spirit little by little. Soon she'll be but a hollow shell of anxiety and insecurities, just like him.
.

I'm sorry it got kinda got dark in the end but this season kinda fcked me up and I need to rant. I don't even know if I'm pro sydcarmy anymore. I just want Sydney happy and successful.

Sydney's panic attack toward the end of the season had me in tears. I mean just seeing her look so unsure and defeated completely broke me. All of her anxiety really came rushing to the surface the minute she had a look at that newspaper clipping. Carmy instilled all that doubt and insecurity in her and I don't think I'm ever going to forgive him for that anytime soon. It's like he's slowly draining her good energy and fck she's almost afraid of him now, afraid of how he'll react to her wanting to leave. At least it looks that way, I need him to back tf off!!

FCK ALL THE FAKS!!
The Bear S3
Honestly yall,
This season was completely shit. Fuck all the FAKS and John cena. Even if Sydcarmy didn’t happen, Ebra and sweeps deserved a storyline. It was rushed and I only liked Tina’s episode. They really tried too hard with this one to make it an award target show. They should’ve focused on quality. Ugh

WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE SEASONS 1&2! 🙂
*SEASON 3 SPOILERS*
Wow, where to begin...that was a fcking shitshow (harsh but I felt very depressed after hitting pause on episode 10 so catch it Chris Storer!!)
There were numerous things wrong with the latest season of the bear but please allow me to address my biggest gripes:
1. The fcking Faks??? (Irrelevant, annoying, unfunny, felt like bashing my head in repeatedly eveytime I was subjected to endure the the idiotic ramblings of Tony and Neil Fak. Get them off my screen please and thank you.)
2. Claire fcking bear (They really doubled down on her boring ass. The never ending flashbacks that we're supposedly highlighting her time spent with carmy. She was sweet, grounding yada yada yada. I'd rather watch paint dry, NEXT!)
3. Unresolved arguments (Carmy and Richie we're at odds throughout the entire season. Their relationship was stunted and honestly, pretty much nonexistent. Seeing them being distant really sucked the life outta me.)
4. Princess Sydney was sidelined??? (Sydney really was my silver lining this season. The scenes she shared with her dad were some of the very few where I genuinely smiled and felt fragments of what I hoped this season would be. That being said, I was very disappointed that we barely got to see her after episode 4, or at least thats how I felt. Her arc this season wasn't fully fleshed out and I feel like excluding her inevitable confrontation with Carmy was a poor choice. Like why did I see more of the Faks than I did Sydney, I'm tired.)
4. Carmy regressing to the depths of hell. (I'm always trying to give Carmy grace but idk, I was kinda done with him by the end. He calls syd his partner but then proceeds to treats her otherwise, he can't communicate for shit, he's borderline disrespectful to the people closest to him, I mean the list goes on. He's very much in his head this season, isolating himself from everyone. All his relationships are strained, he's putting a shit ton of pressure on himself and he's not open to collaboration. I'd say he was very dictator-like with the way he was running things. Syd was always the one dialing things back down in that kitchen, making sure Tina was okay, *dies a little* I love them. Bottom line, I didn't fck with him.
The show felt entirely different most of the time and I kept trying to pinpoint why I was so mad at how they handled things. Came to the conclusion that it just felt less warm. They were very few meaningful character interactions and dialogue between our main players (Carmy, Syd, Richie, Nat, Marcus and Tina.) They kinda felt estranged at times and I didn't like that at all. Also not building on the existing relationships even further felt like wasted potential. All these characters we've grown to love and respect kinda felt stuck.
I'm not sure if this was what Chris and Joanna intended to do but I'll just go ahead and say this season was pretty fcking depressing.
PS: Ice chips was my favourite episode. I absolutely loved everything about it. (Proud to say that I claimed it beforehand)
Okay, bye:)

If you don't fw Sydney then I don't fw you... Like get out of my face
Said this in a reblog of @melfinawins post but also now making into a post cuz it needs to be reiterated going into s3.
As I’m doing my umteenth rewatch before s3, it’s clearer every time that Syd as a character is allowed no grace for her flaws, whereas the incels constantly worship Carmy and Richie regardless of their flaws. They overlook Carmy leaving the cigarettes next to the stove, Richie’s unsanitary proxy job, Carmy starting the brigade and dumping everything on Sydney, the way Richie is literally an asshole to everyone and super microagressive to Sydney, Carmy’s toddler level meltdown during the to go mess. No, allll of that is understandable because they are the (yt men) heroes of the story. But god forbid Syd have a vision for making the restaurant thrive, “Syd is overbearing and overstepping.” Syd doesn’t let Richie get away with being an asshole and defends herself, “Sydney is a b*tch constantly putting Richie down.” Sydney quits after Carmy lets the kitchen devolve into a toxic hellhole following an honest mistake, “Sydney is a POS that leaves everyone hanging after her unforgivable f*ck up.” Yall are EXHAUSTING. Let Syd exist and allow grace for her character flaws the same way yall do for Carmy and Richie.

I'm still with the notion that Pete and Syd are talking about Carmy's offer in this scene. I don't think Syd and him are close enough to be conversing about her newfound opportunity, sth she'd obviously want to keep secret. It'd also be incredibly silly of her to discuss potentially leaving the bear with people who's loyalties lie with the bear. I think Sydney will be the one to break the news to carmy. It'll be delivered first hand, whether it's accidental or not is up for grabs. That's going to be an interesting conversation for sure.
Pete will accidentally reveal Sydney’s new opportunity to Carmy
In s2, Pete accidentally told Donna that Nat was pregnant. In s3, I predict Pete will find out about Syd’s opportunity to work at Ever, and then during a conversation with Carmy, Pete will accidentally tell Carmy about it, which will lead to Carmy and Sydney’s ugly argument.

TO EVERYONE WRITING SYDCARMY FIC (that isn't Black)
unless you are a Black person, please do not write about carmy taking down syd's hair. it's not racist or anything, but we can tell you're not Black when you do and it's just fucking weird. ALSO it strikes me as very interesting that you would just jump to syd allowing carmy to touch her hair like that. I really doubt she would, but that's me personally. also so many of y'all are doing it and it's starting to feel like an obsession with the concept of a white dude touching her hair and ion like that.
ALSO IF I HEAR THE PHRASE "BEAUTIFUL BROWN SKIN" ONE MORE TIME IM GOING TO VOMIT. WE HAVE SKIN, AND THATS OKAY. BUT JESUS FUCK SO MANY OF YALL ARE USING THE PHRASE "BEAUTIFUL BROWN SKIN" LIKE DUDE THATS A LITTLE FUCKIGN WEIRD BE CREATIVE PLEASE
(also it's fan fiction we know what she fuckin looks like you can just say "her skin" like it's so aggressively not that serious)

I want them to be so successful to the point it's sickening so I will not be entertaining this idea at all. They deserve to win😭
posting the longer version of my previous reblog bc it was being weird and glitchy
Thoughts after watching this trailer a few times:
Are we seeing this quasi-ragtag group just getting their bearings? Or could this possibly be a glimpse into the struggle they will continually face. I've thought about this before (as im sure many have) but this trailer has me wondering again: will the lack of cohesion in the kitchen and the looming deadline to pay Cicero back cause The Bear to crumble?
We love an underdog story. We root for the characters we love to beat the odds, making the impossible possible. However, this show hasn't shied away from showcasing the way many restaurants in the area have failed. How unrelenting and unforgiving this industry is, in general. One of the restaurants Sydney went to on her "tour" shut down soon after that visit. So it isn't unrealistic to think that The Bear is being set up to be an example of putting blood sweat and tears into this industry and coming up short.
I'd hate for this to happen mostly because Sydney has already dealt with this heartache. She's already started a business from the ground up and suffered from its failure. At one point, when talking to her dad, she expresses that she doesn't think she could do this again, if she has another one in her. Her feelings are understandable. But our girl is just too good, too talented for this to be the end. Yet, I can also understand feeling burnt one too many times by an industry you thought could be a forever one.
I also want The Bear to succeed for Richie. His time at Ever showed him how he could grow and change with The Bear. He doesn't have to be stagnant. He can see his purpose. He talks about struggling with that in S2 'Beef'. I don't want the potential failure of The Bear to derail Richie's growth. If The Bear is destined to fail I want everyone to come out of it with other prospects, but I especially want Richie to continue to pursue this new purpose. Maybe at Ever. Maybe somewhere else.
As for Syd, I truly want to the world for her. If this is the end of The Bear I hope she becomes CDC (or EC) somewhere else. Maybe she's able to open up her own place (brick and mortar) down the line. I want her to get her stars because she deserves them. I want her to love going into work every day (or atleast most days like let's be realistic lol).

No cause literally when was it ever that serious 😭

This outburst. Geez! 🙄
Maybe....just maybe...the chemistry between these two characters is actually something of substance (not mere imagination) that radiates in every scene and compounds the warmth, love, respect and healthy co-dependence they have between them.
