Everything was set. The room was set up, fresh flowers in beautiful vases in each room. Music softly playing over the speakers, a scented candle or two lit.

Arabella was dressed - not overly so, but not too casual. A simply stretchy, black thing with strappy shoes. Waiting patiently for their guests to arrive. The food was simmering away on the stove - spaghetti bologniese.

A housewarming party. Ari's new apartment in Manhattan. Finally putting down roots - physical ones, anyway.

A knock on the door. Ari rushed over, opened it, and grinned.

"Sweet! Thanks Fri." He took the stairs down two at a time, practically skipping into the room where Clint and his daughter were. "Alright, you're both here, sweet. First lesson! --"

He trails off, seeing the bandaged hand, and immediately all the playfulness leaves, worry taking over instead. "Chloe, are you okay? What happened? Was it something with the suit? No, Friday would have told me. Clint, what happened? What did you do??"

"Hey..." he pauses, clearly distraught. "I don't know what to do." *sigh* "Chloe got in trouble at school again. This time for having a knife. Friday's bringing her home."

"I don't know what I should do... parenting is hard, f-ck."

Cannon heights be damned, Pepper is taller than Tony. In this essay I will-

a concept: MCU!Bucky x Loki

Bucky doesn’t trust Loki. Loki secretly thinks Bucky is “impressive…for a human” aka it’s hot every time Bucky does something w/his assassin skills (think the car chase scene in Thunderbolts).

Yeah, Bucky thinks Loki is physically attractive. But he keeps calling him a “snake” (it’s a figurative term in English), which Loki thinks is funny (except it reminds him of Thor…who’s kinda mad at him for faking his death again). So Loki calls Bucky “The Soldier” —but it’s bc he’s grumpy, not bc of his alias.

At some point, they hatefuck. They’re groaning bc Bucky can’t exactly be as “excited” as he wants w/most people due to his super-strength & Loki “did not expect this”. It becomes a regular thing & they pretend like everyone else isn’t smirking.

Eventually, Loki fucks up. He shapeshifts into Steve (yes, he figured out that Bucky loved Steve, but he didn’t know that Steve left the timeline) & calls Bucky solnyshka [sunshine in Russian]. He just did it to be funny/cute, but Bucky storms out of the room.

Loki hears Bucky sobbing in the shower. Everyone else confronts him & he explains what he did. They’re mad until they realize he doesn’t understand why Bucky became the Winter Soldier, or that Steve didn’t say much of a goodbye (for added angst: Steve either denied loving Bucky romantically, or he really just saw Bucky as a best friend).

Something something Loki pulling out all the stops to woo Bucky, to which Bucky laughs & blushes (the team figured he wouldn’t believe Loki so they explained what happened—Loki never read anybody’s files bc yeah, he’s sneaky, but he doesn’t give a shit about the files bc he thought he’d figure everything out in his own way). Cue an awkward 1st date interrupted by a mission.

Bucky is stunned to find out about Loki’s gender fluidity & that Asgardians have never minded queer people (we’re going for optimism, folks). But it’s a pleasant surprise, having come from a Western country during the early 20th century.

Kisses on the cheek, calling each other “doll” vs. “darling”, cleaning knives together, walking through the park in a companionable silence, Loki playing w/Alpine in his car form 🥹😌🥰
