The fact is that Tonya Shellnutt wants nothing but the best for public school teachers and students. All five of her children attend public school. Two of them have physical challenges, and Tonya is openly grateful for the extra support they have received from their teachers. Tonya also served as a substitute teacher for the local school district in her spare time so she understands the hard work and dedication they give to their jobs. Tonya Shellnutt wants all Montanans to live a life of victory and to suggest that she's anti-women, after she's spent years personally mentoring many women and teens through crises, is appalling. . Occasionally we get a chance to actually know somebody running for public office. It is my privilege to know Tonya Shellnutt, who is running in SD24. I've counted her as a friend for 10 years and never in all that time have I observed her being untruthful, phony or lacking in compassion. Quite the opposite is true; she is authentic, transparent and full of mercy. Despite the multiple attack ads aimed in her direction during this campaign, she has not stooped to the same level. She is running an honest, clean race, standing on her credentials and values without targeting her opponent in viciousness. All candidates should travel that high road. The truth about Tonya is that she is a strong woman who has overcome deep forms of abuse and addiction. These things have served to make her stronger and more compassionate. Despite what has been said, she is an avid supporter of education and is one of those parents who pays attention to what her kids are learning and being taught in school. She is their biggest advocate. All of her children attend public schools and Tonya is involved at every level. She also champions for women and children who cannot speak for themselves. She spends countless unpaid hours counseling and extending love to women who are in crisis. Tonya is an unwavering supporter of our military and their families. She is married to a Navy veteran. She firmly planted herself by my side for an entire year while my husband served in Iraq. Her friendship to me during that time was invaluable. Additionally, she is a relentless believer in the Constitution and the intent of our forefathers in drafting such a beautiful foundation. She believes in the 2nd Amendment and has been endorsed by the NRA. Does any of this pair up with the mailers received in SD24? If not, everyone would be well advised to check their facts. As a committed family person, she has mentored and supported my college son ( yes she is pro education minded), spoken in my community to women with a heart of only encouragement, inspiration and love daring us to be the person God had called us to: Bold, truthful, dedicated, and loving. She stands beside and walks the path every woman I know of who desires to be a leader of family, speak only truth and seek to destroy evil! Like myself, Tonya is a business minded, career woman who puts The Lord in control choosing all life has to offer !!
