Loathed but accurate was/ and when used if maintained is the glass mercury rectal thermometer with its distinctive “ tear drop or pear shaped bulb”. I am as are a number of lady friends, intimately familiar with this glass numbered rod as I was on the receiving and giving ends of temperature takings ( always used clean, disinfected ones.) One for me, one for she.
