Rubber grommets are a famous noise-reducing material that is used in different machines. For instance, the kitchen sink comes with a rubber coating that absorbs the sound. You can do the same to place the rubber grommet between the compressor and the surface. 

Lubricants the Bearing

All the moveable parts of the machine use the bearing and the air compressor has the same. When you run the air compressor its bearings move in a different direction that causes sound by making some friction with metals. You can grease the bearings to minimize sound. Pick the top-quality grease and put it around the bearings.

Place the Air Intake Outside

A compressor needs to intake air just like the vacuum cleaners, it is the common issue that makes the noise. To get rid of the sound you can place the tank outside the home or office. Most people place the air compressor inside the building, you can place it in the corridor or well-ventilated area. To do that use a strong bracket to extend the hose.

A soundproof box is a great solution to lower the noise. Measure the dimension of the compressor to buy the perfect matching soundbox. You can make it by yourself with some cardboard and plywood according to the size of the compressor.
