Even Hurt You Take Care of Me

Here's a new Ben x Rook oneshot, enjoy! Btw this follows from the previous oneshot, but you don't have to have read that to understand this one. Outline:

Ben and Rook fighting a rogue Tetramand - maybe she’s taken some drug that has induced sudden anger resulting in her fighting random strangers at Undertown till Ben and Rook are called in 

Ben gets hurt very badly in the fight - Omnitrix not giving him the alien he wants + drugged Tetramand is really strong

Main injuries are that he sprained his left ankle and fractured his right arm 

While Ben is lying on the ground in pain, Rook takes the opportunity to attack, but gets flung violently into a wall, denting it severely

Ben has become more protective of Rook since learning that Rook is actually younger than him, and so seeing his younger partner be flung into a wall causes him to erupt in anger 

Sudden adrenaline rush allows him to turn into Big Chill - he goes intangible and flies through the Tetramand which freezes her 

With the fight over Ben turns back to human and slowly, pitifully limps towards Rook

He calls for Rook to get up but Rook remains unresponsive 

Ben gets worried, tries lightly kicking him in the arm with his left foot which leaves him gasping in pain and Rook still unconscious 

Ben’s frantically shouting for Rook to wake up but to no avail

He lowers himself to the ground and tries to pull Rook up using just his left arm, but Rook’s way taller and bigger than himself so it’s impossible for him to drag his deadweight using just one arm 

Ben tries his best to calm himself down, knowing that if he continues he may have a panic attack which would be unhelpful in this situation 

Eventually Ben resigns to his fate, and turns into Jetray 

Even though its extremely painful to do so, Ben has no other choice and thus grabs Rook with his claws and flies off

Flapping his broken right wing causes pain to shoot through his nerves

He just wants to go home and curl up in bed and never wake up but he has to care for Rook first

Rook’s house is nearer so he flies them both to Rook’s place

Right as he reaches Rook’s doorstep, the watch times out so he turns back to human, thus dropping Rook from a slight height and falling down to the ground mid-flight

He bruises his ankle even further but luckily doesn’t worsen his fracture 

He struggles to pull Rook up with one hand and thus has to use both hands to hold on to Rook and pull him up 

This worsens his fracture but the fear he has of Rook not waking up fuels him

He swipes the Omnitrix at the door lock and the door swings open  

Chest heaving, he drags Rook into his house and lays him on the sofa in the living room 

Ben collapses on the floor next to the sofa, and finally the pain registers 

He starts to sob, the pain being so unbearable as well as him being overwhelmed by Rook being unconscious for so long 

Ben realises how loud he is being and yet Rook isn’t waking - this causes him to hyperventilate and he has a full on panic attack 

He starts to scream, pulling at his hair, rocking back and forth, desperate for Rook to wake up and tell him what to do 

I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE 

I DON’T KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOU 

Those are the thoughts that are running through his mind 

Eventually Ben passes out from exhaustion, wakes up lying on the floor next to the sofa where Rook is still unconscious

Rook looks so peaceful, as if he’s merely sleeping 

Ben on the other hand looks ragged, bruises all over his body, his ankle swollen, arm purplish-red and pulsing 

Ben sighs and lifts his left arm to pet Rook’s head

Suddenly Rook murmurs and shifts slightly

Ben is shocked and tries to shake Rook awake, when he notices the blood on the pillow that Rook had been lying on

His breath quickens as he touches the back of Rook’s head with a finger and it comes away sticky with red blood 

He gasps and starts to freak out once more 

Knowing this was way out of his depth, he decides to call Grandpa Max, but Max doesn’t answer 

He tries calling Blukic and Driba but they too don’t answer

Completely freaking out at this point, his vision starts to waver, tears well up again 

He frantically searches for a towel or even tissue to clot the wound, and eventually finds a small towel in Rook’s room - once again he worsens his ankle but doesn’t realise at the moment

Manages to squeeze the towel in between the pillow and his head, doesnt know what else to do

Ben’s out of energy, running on fumes, eventually collapses again

This time he wakes up in bed, with Rook laying next to him awake and staring at him 

Ben blinks his eyes, stares at Rook blankly 

Rook looks adorable

Wait…how am I iN BED? 

WITH ROOK?!

Ben shoots up and jostles his arm which makes him cry out in pain 

Rook quickly pushes him back down, tells him he needs to stay still 

Ben looks down and sees his arm neatly wrapped and in a cast

He looks at his ankle which has also been wrapped in bandages 

He turns to Rook, eyes welling up with tears 

Rook is shocked, asks him if it hurts that much - he think Ben is about to cry from the pain

Ben shakes his head, unable to say anything

Even hurt, you take care of me

More headcanons about piercings????? I might as well give this a tag of its own. Oh and just for the record, this headcanon is set when Ben's 20yo.

Yay i worked on the layout of Rook's earrings, kinda not satisfied but this is all i can muster before Maths test so bear with me. Details of each earring down the cut

- Shar: (this is supposed to be a forward helix but my dumbass positioned it too far) A piece Shar came across while she was stationed on Anur Transyl. The seller was a Thep Khufan (Snare-oh's species) who insisted the piece can bring good fortune, Shar didn't believe that of course, but its color was complimentary of her brother's eyes so she bought it anyway. She came to Gwen just to make sure there's nothing harmful about the earring and found a sleep spell lingering on it. Gwen reassured her that being inside the Thep Khufan's body has weakened the spell to the point where it can only make its user fall asleep easier and made it the perfect gift for Rook.

- Gwen: A rook earring with a cat eye gemstone embed in it, it slightly increases Rook's night vision.

- Ben: A handmade earring, Rook found it cute that he made the beads their favourite colours.

- Communicator: A communicator Rook made, the design was obviously taken from the omnitrix, which Ben thought was cute.

- Ben (again): A normal mid helix piece Ben bought down Undertown, he customized it to be a tad more flashy though (he thought the matching logo with Rook's proto-tool was neat)

- Rook Ben: A translator device Rook Ben made for his brother.

- Sandra: Sandra wanted to thank Rook for looking out for her son with an earring after hearing Ben talk about Rook’s new hobby. She chose an upper lobe earring with a design she thought was popular among youngsters. It was one of Rook's favourite.

- Kevin: Something he got from Argit, the small gemstone can help balance its user's body temperature under extreme heat (only for a short time though). But Rook doesn't know this because Kevin only handed it to him saying "You might as well own something with a cross charm for the sake of it".

Anxiety + Motion Sickness = Ben Throwing Up

Here’s a Ben 10 Oneshot of mine - i’ll be typing out the full oneshot and posting on AO3 soon, but here’s a sneak peek of my outline for the fic

Outline: - Ben and Rook headed for night patrol in the Proto-Truk - Ben’s leaning against the window, Rook’s upset that Ben is ignoring him - Ben actually has been having insomnia and nightmares so he’s sleepy - Rook starts ranting about how ungrateful Ben is - Rook’s in a mood ™ - Ben’s startled awake, gets anxious from Rook’s sneering and tries to ask him why - Rook doesn’t respond but continues ranting, escalates into shouting - Rook’s driving gets slightly out of control - Ben’s motion sickness kicks in - Ben gets really nauseous, plus he’s trying not to cry, trying to hide how upset Rook’s making him - Rook doesn’t notice, won’t stop ranting, he’s been bottling his anger up for a while - Ben pleads him to stop driving - Rook thinks he’s asking him to stop pointing out his flaws and purposely continues to, and drives even more recklessly - Ben’s anxiety is through the roof, stomach churning queasily, intestines squirming - Holding back tears and swallowing bile, Ben cries out for Rook to stop the Proto-Truk - Rook finally notices something’s amiss, stops very suddenly - Ben throws the door open, shakily gets down, stumbles forward dizzily into the alley they stopped at, and throws up violently - He can’t catch his breath, his stomach contents rushing up his throat - He heaves and heaves till there’s nothing left - Still continues to dry retch pitifully, legs can’t support him anymore so he collapses - That brings Rook out of his shock, rushes forward to help Ben up, leans him against the wall - Ben’s panting and crying, tears streaking his cheeks - Rook tries to calm him down but to no avail - Ben can’t breathe, hyperventilating and woozy - Rook is horrified, doesn’t know what to do, almost starts panicking himself - Spur of the moment decision to just pull Ben into his arms and cuddle him - Rook’s kneeling in the alley, hugging Ben to his chest, taking exaggerated breaths, hoping Ben will match his breathing - Ben melts into his embrace and completely breaks down, force of his sobs shaking his lithe frame, Rook rubs his back soothingly and rocks back and forth, trying to calm him down - Eventually Ben stops wailing, calms down enough for Rook to pull away slightly to look him in the face - Still holding him, caressing his arms, Rook asks if he’s alright - Ben doesn’t meet his eyes, simply says he has motion sickness - Rook’s confused, asks how come he’s never experienced it before, especially during car chases or when he changes into XLR8 or Fasttrack - Ben hesitantly explains how it only happens when he’s human because his aliens are accustomed to fast speed, - He’s embarrassed to admit his anxiety to Rook - Rook pushes him to answer completely, Ben gives in - Ben reveals his anxiety and explains how his arrogance and everything else that Rook had criticised was false, simply a facade, a mask for the media and public - Rook is upset that Ben could not confide in him earlier, isn’t he his friend? - Ben admits only his grandpa knows, doesn’t even want to tell Gwen and Kevin but he suspects they know - Ben was scared he would disappoint Rook even further - Rook assures him that although Ben isn’t the hero he idol-worshipped at the Plumber’s Academy, Ben certainly did not disappoint him - Ben is still upset, claims he is a terrible partner, says he doesn’t deserve Rook - Rook mistakes that for Ben wanting a better partner - Rook’s insecure too - and agrees - Ben realises his mistake and clarifies what he meant - Rook reassures Ben that he loves being Ben’s partner - Ben says he doesn’t even know Rook’s birthday, Rook says he could have known if he had read his file to which Ben says he doesn’t want to, he feels it’s an invasion of privacy, he’d rather Rook tell him such personal stuff on his own - Rook blushes as everything he knows about Ben - his fears, his weaknesses - have been from his file   - Rook reveals his bday - 17th Feb - Ben is happy that he hasn’t missed Rook’s birthday and vows to buy him a gift - Ben asks how old Rook will be to which Rook says 17 - Ben realises Rook is in fact 3 months younger than himself and is shocked - Rook knowingly asks if Ben had assumed Rook was older than him - Ben admits to that - Rook says it must be because of his height - Rook is 190cm (6’3”) whereas Ben is 170cm (5’7”) - Ben says it’s because of his maturity, but that him being 6 foot 3 certainly helps that assumption - With that revelation, Rook carries Ben - who’s completely drained by then - back to the Proto-Truk, offers to drive him home - Ben agrees reluctantly and sighs, Rook asks if he’s okay, Ben says his parents are overseas so he’d be home alone - Feeling that Ben shouldn’t be alone in this state Rook says he’ll drive to his house instead - Ben falls asleep while Rook drives home
