Can You Catch Tooth Decay From Kissing - Do They Spread?
It is a fact that kissing can actually have a variety of health benefits which includes the release of endorphins, known to help improve your mood. There is this thing called enhanced saliva flow too, which can actually be helpful, it exercises your facial muscles and is known to burn a few extra calories!
But could kissing also be bad for your teeth? Could it lead to serious oral health issues like cavity plaque? Read on and find out in this blog from https://thisoldtooth.com/can-you-catch-tooth-cavity-from-another-person-when-you-kiss-them/
REMEMBER! Tooth cavity is just as contagious as the flu OR the common cold.  It is a fact that it can absolutely be passed on from mouth to mouth contact, this is in the process of exchanging saliva.
NOT a quick peck on the lips, swapping spit, it is exchanging the cavity causing bacteria with each other.
Can You Really Catch Tooth Decay From Kissing - Do They Spread?
Kissing of any kind will defenitely transmit saliva between you and your partner. And that can be a bad thing! If either of you have tooth decay.
Simply because the bacteria that can cause cavities is contagious. SO If you or your partner have mouth bacteria, eventually you are potentially transmitting lots of bacteria with each other and these bacteria could lead to oral health issues like tooth decay.

Having dentures means that you should take an extra step to maintaining good dental care and hygiene. Like natural teeth, dentures should be brushed and cleaned regularly, otherwise you will develop a bad breath smell like a sewer.

When you neglect to clean your teeth regularly, the caps or crown on your teeth may deteriorate over time which may cause tooth decay and bad breath. Some people think that dentures need not be cleaned or brushed but it’s important to keep your dental hygiene in check. You should always brush and floss your teeth regularly especially if you use braces because you might miss some spots or areas and that can cause bad breath, tooth decay, or worse, loss of teeth.

Can The Bacteria That Cause Gum Disease Also Cause Alzheimer’s Disease?
NIA scientists have just discovered that the same bacteria that cause gum disease are one and the same culprit for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The bacteria is said to lead to mouth and dental infection that can cause inflammation and bleeding in the teeth and gums. The danger here lies in the fact that bacteria found in the gums can travel straight to your brain and wreak havoc in your central nervous system.
Recent CDC studies discovered that older adults or seniors with gum disease are more likely to suffer from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Antibodies against clusters of bacteria such as the oral bacterium P. gingivalis is found which is said to have increased the risk of patients in contracting Alzheimer’s disease. Associations with the degenerative disease have been found which may help in the future treatment or prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.

Is Flossing Your Teeth Really Necessary?
Flossing your teeth regularly is just as important as brushing it. Dentists recommend to floss before or after brushing because brushing your teeth may not be enough to remove food residue or prevent plaque and cavity buildup. If you keep tossing aside the flossing then this is your cue to keep it a part of your regular dental care routine.
There is a big dispute on this, to floss or not to floss? Is it really worth it?
“Food that’s left between teeth causes gum inflammation and tooth decay. Flossing is the only way to remove it. A toothbrush just can’t get between teeth,” according to dentistry professor Sivan Finkel, DMD, of New York University College of Dentistry.
Tumblr media
Flossing and its Health Connection
It is a fact that about half of all Americans have gum disease, also known as periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory disease that shows up when bacteria in plaque below the gum line have started to cause swelling and irritation. If untreated, it can lead to receding gums and tooth loss. Floss before or after brushing can protect you from Periodontal disease.

Why Flossing Is Important?
Flossing can help protect your pearly whites and gums from developing tartar and cavities. Your teeth have hard-to-reach areas on the sides which may not be cleaned properly by brushing your teeth alone. When you don’t floss, the food particles can get stuck in the gaps of your teeth which may result in plaque buildup.  The bacteria can also damage the enamel of your teeth and can even cause gingivitis or inflammation of the gums. Flossing your teeth once a day after a thorough brushing is recommended by dentists.
