If you could send one message to your past self, what would you say?

The air seems to stand still around them as he swallows, his throat constricted as if breathing in that moment is a task rather than routine. The Barton is well known for masking his emotions, deflecting with the expertly constructed retorts he so often employs but even as the question seems simplistic in nature his thoughts moved only to one place, his family. Even now, years after the travesty his pain is so raw, a pain felt deeply to his core. His accent almost seems thicker now as he lets the emotion into his voice, normally a voice so controlled and benefitting from his cockiness “Don’t take them to my fathers, they’re not safe.”

Are you left handed?

Given the usual questions that are often directed at him this is by far the most peculiar, questions of his motivations, his actions, those are routine, this, well he can’t help but to find it odd even given the simplicity of it. It slight, the way his head tilts to the side and he offers the briefest of shrugs, “Ambidextrous.” He assumes of course they’d noticed he moves his firearm from hand to hand, and though his left one he prefers for many things both are on the same footing.

There’s little left to the imagination given how thinly veiled the threat is and Zemo is anything but oblivious when it comes to reading between the lines and yet the usual fear someone should feel bubbling within them is no where to be found. He sits in the chair, one leg coming up to cross over the other, casual as though the conversation is as mundane as discussing the weather. 

The Barons head tilts to just the slightest degree as he regards him, a silent and yet subtle acceptance and agreement with the words. “Such is the truth, yes, and yet the desired effect of your words seem lost.” His words are delivered in a particular manner, they’re deliberate and possess that touch of cockiness ever present in his speech. “Surely there’s a point to this mindless comparison of numbers, James?”

There’s nothing subtle in the slightest of smirks that quirks up at the corner of his lip as he looks at the other man, it’s clear that the loss of patience and the threat only serve to amuse the Baron. His back presses further against the chair he’s sat in but he holds his hands up slowly in show of silent surrender even if the smugness in his expression is still present. “And here I thought you were growing to be the picture of patience, James.” One word, why not just throw a whole sentence at him.
