"How to Detect a Russian Blog" 😷

This is ill. If you do not want to ever see a Russian again, I understand, block them. But to try and start a witch hunt because you want to hurt random Russian simmers is wild. "May use transliterated russian words such as ptiza, mechta, bulochka etc." My other blog is called Mechta. I am not Russian. Not in heritage nor nationality. This blog is Toska, again, not Russian, not even Slavic. Trying to start a witch hunt and my Appalachian ass directly getting called Russian. But to those that are Russian, they have a right to be here, just as anyone else. If any show themselves as pro-invasion, they should be chased out.

Anyway, fuck putin, fuck the russian government, fuck anyone pro-invasion/war.

How to Detect a Russian Blog

Yes, this post is really about how you can recognize a russian simblr. I give you every right to consider me an aggressive Ukrainian who hates “ordinary russian simmers who just want to play”. But russian attacks leave me no choice. I don't want russians in my feed. If it's same for you, here are some tips on how to spot a russian Sims blog.

"RU" in the profile. The most obvious sign. Obvious examples.

2. User name/personal name with russian words

May use transliterated russian words such as ptiza, mechta, bulochka etc. Same goes for russian names such as Nastya, Annya, Lena etc. They might not necessarily appear in the header, but you can find them in 'presentation' posts at the very beginning of the blog. Similar names and words can be in other languages as well. So if you are unsure, keep looking for other signs, such as...

3. Russian language in the archive

If a platform supports your language, why not use it? At the same time, Ukrainians are deprived of such luxury. We are allowed to use either English or russian.

4. Boosty

If you see a Boosty link, it should give you 🚩

Why do russians choose Boosty when most creators use Patreon? After russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, due to international sanctions, creators based in russia cannot receive payments from Payoneer or PayPal, and therefore cannot withdraw funds from Patreon.

Boosty is a russian platform created in 2019 by the DonationAlerts team (part of the russian companies in Mail.ru Group / VK). Although the platform is currently owned by the Dutch company CEBCB.V., don't let this fool you. The main server of the platform is located in Moscow. For the same reason, if access to russian sites is blocked in your country (such as in Ukraine), you will not be able to access the Boosty site without a VPN.

5. Comments/posts/asks in russian

"But what if they are Belarusian or Ukrainian? These languages are so similar". Solution: Use google translator.

"But what if they are Belarusian/Ukrainian/any other country colonized by russia, speaking russian?”

6. Using of brackets in the end of sentences

In russian a single or a few brackets in the end of the sentence mean smile or friendly tone. Ukrainians may use it too, so if you are unsure either it's a russian blog, keep checking for other signs.

They may appear in the 'Check out these blogs' because aesthetically these blogs are quite similar and content related. They also like/share/comment each other's posts in russian.

7. Character aesthetic

This is the most subjective point which is hard to explain so you can skip or ignore it. I will not give visual examples, so as not to be accused of hunting down the creators. Nevertheless, the profile pics of russian simblrs and their characters in general have common features of a kind of gloomy aesthetic. I would call this the result of using the same genetics from russian mod makers. Gloomy long faces with teary eyes, to describe briefly. Now you have this knowledge. You can use it as you wish.

CONCLUSION

I'm not calling on you to hate these people, to be aggressive towards them, or to get into arguments with them. I'm not persecuting russians, I'm not trying to humiliate them, and I don't want you to do that. I'm not forbidding you from using their mods.
