hi guys! i'd like to collect your opinions on the "progressiveness" of star trek: the original series. by progressive, i mean did it do a good job of discussing topics that were/are controversial? did it successfully tackle subjects such as racism, sexism, war, technology in a way that applies to the present?

how do you feel about the episode, “the way to Eden” AKA the space hippie episode? this might be an unpopular opinion but i didn’t really like it. i think those forehead cutie marks the hippies wore had something to do with it but also the way kirk treated them irked me.

also if you please, can anyone recommend one to start with? i don’t know anything about them but i saw they have a lot of them at my half price book store

do you prefer the episodes in which they go to extremely earth-like planets (a piece of the action for example) or the more exploratory alien episodes? i like both but when i started watching, i was actually surprised at how many episodes took place on planets that were identical to earth!!! and surprised to learn that i really liked them :)

im curious to know what people think about which season of TOS was the best. you can judge by anything from which has the best episodes to which has best characterization or production etc but i want to know why you voted for which season if u don’t mind :) personally, season 2 had the most of my favorite episodes
