As promised my first Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy fan art from all the way back in 2020.

What I find most interesting about this is Arthur's lack of pajamas. I had only just finished the first book which makes no solid reference to what he's wearing. In retrospect, it's like realizing Humpty Dumpty never mentions an egg! It's such a staple of his character design and it's fun to think that in my first read through I was imagining him in this cute little sweater vest. Very nice outfit though and I like the yellow Guide.

As for Ford, he's a bit taller than I actually imagined him even then. It was just a limitation of my art skill at the time that making him lanky stretched him out more than I wanted. I really like his shoes. There's some really excellent shoe designs from this period of my art that are similar in style and I just love them. And they suit him well. I also like that I made his satchel look packed to indicate the towel inside.

I think Trillian is my favorite here. Her shirt makes me think of the original Lost in Space which is the first Sci-Fi thing I ever got into. I think that was intentional. I don't remember.

Marvin is very cute. I've definitely gotten better at drawing robots and I draw him a lot different now, but I like this simple design. He looks very depressed. Good job.

Zaphod, Zaphod, Zaphod. That is a normal outfit. Who even is this? All the pizzazz is held in his right head. His left head looks like it didn't get a single brain cell in the divorce. He's my favorite character now, but he wasn't then and I think he suffered for it.

Happy Towel Day!!! I am temporarily employed by lightning bugs. Maybe between flailing around in the dark whispering numbers into my guide and sending emails with three too many exclamation marks, I will dig up the first fan art I ever posted and give it a scathing review.
