my hair has gotten long enough to put up again and it's got me thinking about when I was a teen and working with kids a lot, my hair was a lot longer and I always wore it up - because that made my hearing aids clearly visible to the kids [my in ear molds used to be much bigger and zebra patterened]

i did it part cuz I wanted my hair out of the way, but also because inevitably kids would see my hearing aids and ask questions. and I could give what was probably one of manys earliest introductions to disability and assessability devices, and normalize them just a bit.

which. yknow I always considered myself not *that* much of a disability advocate, and I didn't really fully consider myself disabled since the last few years. but maybe I always have been...
