Apollian
(Meant to match with Sapphic and Achillean)
Tumblr media
Apollian is a term to replace the phrase "hetpassing" or "straightpassing" since those terms diminish the inherit queerness of a relationship featuring one or more queer people. This term may be used to describe a MLW relationship, Masc4Femme relationship, or any relationship that might at a glance appear to be straight. This term is meant to be used to acknowledge that there is no privilege in being invisible, stealth or in the closet, since that inherently means you are not being allowed to be your open self or that people are still defaulting to straight/cis/allo/mono even though there may be one or more queer people in the relationship.
Apollo has been chosen as the namesake because he is somewhat of a mythological icon for queerness, having several female and male lovers. The purple stripes are meant to represent queer identities of all types, including multisexuality, the a-spectrum, transgenderism, gender-diversity and polyamory. The daphne flower has been chosen for the centre because Daphne the nymph is one of Apollo's most iconic lovers, but also specifically a female one to represent the queer MLW relationships this flag and term are meant to acknowledge.

Me: I hc my fave lady as bisexual.
Biphobes: So she can be closer to straight? So she'll date men? So you can ship her with men? So you can make everything about her relationships with men? So you can erase all of her relationships that aren't with men? So you can make her entire identity revolve around men? HAVE I MENTIONED HOW MUCH I THINK FEMALE BISEXUALITY IS REALLY ABOUT MEN?

I think a fair amount of biphobia online is rooted in what I call the "fanfiction bisexual mentality". in a fanfiction, often a character who is straight in canon, with a string of past opposite sex romantic/sexual partners, is paired with a same sex partner, and rather than devalue all those past relationships as not actually meaningful, the author will have the character realize that they are bisexual when they catch feelings for someone of their gender. and crucially, in a fanfiction, that ship is usually end game, they realize they're bi and live happily ever after with their gay lover.
but that is not how real life works. bisexual people might date exclusively one gender for years or even their entire life because that's who's around or who they are in love with. a bisexual might realize they're bi after meeting one specific person, but maybe that relationship doesn't work out - someone doesn't have to be The One to make you learn something about yourself! maybe you realize you're bi while already married and you stay married!
but allllll fucking pride month I have seen post after post about "this woman SAID she is bisexual, so why is she dating a man?" (and usually it is directed at women but not always). they expect someone to realize they are bi and then immediately start a serious relationship with a same sex partner and if they don't, then why did they even bother coming out as bi? it's not relevant to the gay happily ever after, so... maybe they're lying for clout? and god forbid they do date a gay partner and then go back to a straight one, despite like. straight/bi opposite sex potential partners outnumbering gay/bi same sex partners twenty to one.
I get irritation if a tv show tells you a character is bisexual but only ever puts them in "straight" relationships, but people are not tv shows and they're definitely not fanfiction. coming out as bi is not ~forwarding the plot~ or character growth leading to your ship declaring their love. it's people sharing an important part of themselves, and in a time of increasing queerphobia, who the fuck are you to criticize someone for doing that - or worse, accuse them of lying about it. not to be all "let women date men!" but bi people don't exist to give you cute gay celeb couple pics and the biphobia is exhausting.

thank you for finally putting into words what i haven’t been able to, or at least was only aware of on a subconscious level.
i don’t think i was as obvious or direct about it, but i was like this back in 2020 as a baby queer when i was struggling with internalized biphobia, and then that led me to fall right into the comphet masterdoc trap for a year after. when i look back on it i feel cringeworthy, but i understand exactly how that came to be at the age of 15.
I find the "I'm bi but I don't date women because I'm scared of how they're just so perfect and pretty 😖" and "I'm bi and I love all women and four types of men but I'm stuck with my boyfriend ugh 🙄" jokes to be annoying but the very second some biphobic misogynist tries to say shit suddenly I'm these girls' biggest fan

Battle Axe Bi Mspec (BABM)
Боевой Топор Би Мспек (БАБМ)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🌙 ˑ ִֶ 𓂃⊹ is an inclusive movement of bisexuals people who support mspec and who are fighting not only against biphobia, but also against mspecphobia !¡
BABM promotes that orientations such as Pan, Omni, Poly, Abro, etc. also have a right to exist, and they do not harm bisexuals in any way.
BABM also do not support such opinions as: "these are just varieties of bisexuals" ; "pan/omni/poly are still bisexuals" etc.
Each mspec orientation has its own history and experience.
Pan/Omni/Poly(etc) ≠ Bi
Tumblr media

Bi Butch + Bi Femme flags!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is not to discourage anyone from using the most commonly used bi butch and bi femme flags, but rather, I am personally uncomfortable with some views from the creator of those flags and I wanted to make butch and femme flags that weren’t “blue is masculine and pink is feminine”, and with the bi butch sun and moon mace, and the bi femme moon lipgloss symbols I made! (the symbols on all my flags are with various free to use images from png sites!)
My beloved bi butch bestie @bisexual-coala advised me while making the bi butch flag! especially the brown colour for butches, and I wanted to use purple and a strong shade of red for the bi femme flags!
Flags are symbols f2u! I hope you enjoy my take on them!

also stated that it’s ’less a bi woman makes a relationship queer, and more a straight man makes the relationship straight’
so (not @ OP) that's fucking gross and frankly misogynistic as hell; it also goes back to how often bi women are seen not even just as conscious perpetrators/enablers but simply inherent extensions of men. like that's basic level textbook misogyny, to see an average couple that can be safely assumed to have an equal partnership and decide the man's legacy has more power & worth somehow, and it couldn't be more obvious.
I saw a post from someone who was talking about how lesbians and bisexual sapphics have differences in what they are, not what they do, for example both lesbians and bisexual sapphics dating women and other sapphics is something we do together, but they then went on to talk about how a bi woman in a relationship with a straight man is not as queer as sapphics who are living within ‘queer relationships’
and while it is true to a degree that society has differences in how they treat and react to different types of relationships but i have to wonder, do you guys think that cis bi woman in relationships with straight men cannot have a meaningful and DISGUSTINGLY queer life (/pos) simply bc of their proximity to a straight man???
do you think these bi women cannot go out and participate in queer culture without their man?? do you think that bi woman are chained into the position of lesser queer bc they have a straight male for a partner??? do you think that they cannot contribute to the health and well-being of queer communities??
the person who posted the original post which got me thinking about this also stated that it’s ’less a bi woman makes a relationship queer, and more a straight man makes the relationship straight’ and i cannot tell you how fucking upsetting it is to see the resurgence of this rhetoric, bc this is what gets bi women abused and killed.
our oppression as the bisexual community is not hinged or limited to who we fucking date or how we present to society and i’m so tired of people assuming our queerness based on the gender and orientation of our partners.
