// I want to yap more about my innocent war criminal: Jun Woowie.
I think it is not said enough in the community, or rather, it is somewhat shamed in TGCF rpc, to ship Xie Lian and Jun Wu. I saw a lot of interpretations/headcanons/narratives of Jun Wu and Xie Lian sharing a familiar, often father/son (heir) relationship. I disagree. Jun Wu's obsession with Xie Lian begins with an envious realization that Xie Lian is everything that Jun Wu should have been during his reign in Wuyong. And even two thousand years later, despite his annihilation of the previous heavenly court, now at the top of the food chain as Heavenly Emperor himself, Jun Wu cannot fathom someone like Xie Lian being worshipped in such a way. He gives him trials, tribulations, he forces Xie Lian to kill his people and doom his kingdom, and even in that hatred, Xie Lian emerged to be beloved by many. Jun Wu does not care about Hua Cheng's devotion to Xianle because he sees how obsessed HC is as well, in his own way. He respects that obsession, although he thinks Xie Lian does not deserve Hua Cheng's "love" since it forgives Xianle and does not push his limits to become a villain and rule the world with a blackened blade. But this is important because Jun Wu does not want Xie Lian to be this "heir" to some throne. He also does not want to be a mentor to Xie Lian. He literally wants to become Xie Lian, to relive the greatness of Wuyong through the misery of Xianle. Jun Wu becomes so sick with this desire that his envious pursuit and possessiveness trickles into a dangerous, intimate territory. He wants to crawl into Xie Lian's skin, wants to fuse them together as one. I think some people thought that, depending on the translations of the TGCF novels, Jun Wu wanted Xie Lian to give in to the WNF temptation and take over heaven, rule together as "king and prince". I did not read it in that way. Jun Wu wants another half that is just like HIM, a carbon copy he can touch, bite, bleed, and call by a name that no longer means Xianle. We all saw how he touches Xie Lian, how he gives him favor, how he tortures him so intimately that there is not a single shadow of doubt in me about their relationship. Yes, Jun Wu wants to kill Xianle, he also wants to touch him, to sleep with him (both sexually and territorially). Because for Jun Wu, it is all a matter of control. It is a matter of corrupting Xianle in every possible way, the way Wuyong was corrupted by hatred. Jun Wu's resentment is his love language, and yes, I think his abusive love for Xie Lian pushes him to create all these challenges and problems for himself. Although it is funny to me, but I do not see him being jealous of Hua Cheng. He is just mad the guy is in the way, but he does not mind "sharing". Anyway, that's my piece on it. I think people who come on here and spit out abuse and shame at people who ship JunLian (calling them incestuous) are illiterate cowards. I also think that really goes for any ship that is out here that gets hate for no legitimate reason. Like what you like (you want father/son dynamic, more power to you but don't act like I am wrong and you are God). Then again, I think it's funny when people mald over villain writers. Like yeah, you are sitting on a "woke" app self-reporting yourself as media illiterate OOF! HAHAHA. I love Jun Wu. I will die for him. He's an irredeemable piece of shit, and I absolutely love him for it.

// big developments in the literature community. Heart Lamp by Mushtaq holds the 2025 Booker Prize. It is so, so deserved. The finalists from the selection had some strong narratives. I haven't read Heart Lamp yet. I am beginning my journey with Small Boat by Vincent Delecroix. A study of human sympathy and bystander effect are so prevalent, especially today. God! I cannot recommend more accessing this literature when you can.

Wuyong fell over two thousand years ago. In this devastation, worshippers turned into heretics, spitting out the volcanic ash while cursing the black sky. A tornado made of dust and fire swept across marble chairs and colorful murals, erasing history within the first hour of the tolling apocalypse. On the crumbling bridge stood a man whose slumped shoulders no longer carried the weight of nobility. In the ruins of his own madness, the Crown Prince of Wuyong observed the prophesied end to his kingdom. His people were denied entry into Heaven, and as the gods looked away, the Prince glared with bleeding eyes. Behind him, his people chanted, pointing fingers at their ruler's back. It was HIS fault. It was HIS plan. It was HIS ruin, not theirs. Turning his head, the Prince gazed upon his vassals who fled into the burning poppy fields of his gardens. A cruel smile spread upon his lips, becoming a grin that cracked his dry, bleeding lips.
"BURN then." He spoke coldly as the bridge collapsed around him and darkness swallowed Wuyong whole.
A ruler was said to come from Heaven, bestowing resources upon the great Drought that took over multiple kingdoms. After the forgotten fall, Wuyong was erased from history. In its place, many eras followed, both fallen and blooming. Jun Wu stood at the head of a BORROWED kingdom, a mere proxy to his past. He introduced himself with a new name, a new face, and a desire to AID smaller, insignificant kingdoms. When the Master of Xianle came to him, bowing his head, Jun Wu measured him with an even, righteous gaze. Of course, he would help those in need. And the record reflected that it was the king's bright prospect to offer his only son as a bargaining chip to share the blessings Xianle lacked. A strange gamble for the era's current kingdom that cast a thick shadow upon all others but how could Jun Wu REFUSE?
Jun Wu entered Xianle with carriages brimming with gifts, like a typhoon bringing nectar of the ocean into a drying oasis. Xianle's people were spoiled by exotic fruit, textiles, and money that threatened to topple the economy on the first day of their wedding. Jun Wu hid his face, only offering a hand through his carriage's window as a sign of his presence. As per the rules, he respected his groom's distance, undergoing all necessary procedures. Adorned in foreign gold and armor depicting history only known to Jun Wu, he entered the royal chambers without attendants. A crimson poppy carved into his robes like a pattern cascaded over his cape that dragged slightly behind him. His hand easily pushed the door leading into the private hall where Xie Lian resided.
Jun Wu eyed the bowing prince, his face devoid of readable emotions. What a pleasant sight it was: a man MOURNING his fate. Was Jun Wu's presence so repulsive that the prospect of marriage was a funeral? He didn't expect himself to be in this position but then again, he also did not expect to SLAUGHTER heaven to make his rules. But Xie Lian didn't need to know that he was to wed the Heavenly Emperor. In this era, Jun Wu hadn't yet revealed himself to many heavenly officials who wondered why their ruler wore a golden veil upon his face during their annual gatherings.
"The true honor is to be greeted by you, Xianle." Jun Wu allowed himself to bow deeper, hiding a smile in a brief shadow cast over his face when it slanted. Gazing up, he regarded his future spouse. He was beautiful, an unconventional anomaly of perfection. Something scratched at Jun Wu's gut. A hint of JEALOUSY.
"You are-" Jun Wu paused, recognizing that the comment halted on his tongue was too familiar, too intimate for newlyweds. He paused, chuckling. He did not approach Xie Lian too close, keeping a distance as both a guest and a novel husband. "-most welcoming. I apologize if this has caused you grief." He meant the celebrations and the lavish attention Jun Wu himself adored but Xianle...seemed elsewhere.
"To be honest," Jun Wu lied, "I've no idea what to do." He smiled.

In a quiet, distant way, it's almost a little sad. Xie Lian has always known, in the abstract, that his life belongs to Xianle. It's not something that's spoken so explicitly - it's just a whisper of truth that whistles through all parts of his day like a gentle breeze ; more often than not, it doesn't feel like anything more than the status quo.
Today, Xie Lian carries it with reverence and - resignation.
Is that ungrateful ? The days are long and they have not seen rain in so long, and he has seen and heard and felt his people's pain. This, he had assured his mother when she fretted over the choice that the King had made, was the best case - a peaceful solution to a devastating problem. A path towards the safety and prosperity of Xianle, hopefully for many generations to come. Surely this is the kind of answer that would please the gods : one's life in the service of many.
Except, Xie Lian is greeting this day, his betrothed, with no sleep and a restless heart.
When the procession finishes its path through the city, Xie Lian is ready to receive them after the King and Queen finish their welcome. There have been so many days when he'd scoffed at the little rituals and nods to tradition, the many steps between oneself and what one wants to accomplish. Today, he is grateful for the last few moments of privacy - the chance to compose himself. So he's poised, head already inclined slightly in a bow when someone opens the door.
❝ - Your Highness, ❞ He says, testing the words on his tongue but too hesitant to reach for his name. ❝ It is an honor to welcome you to Xianle. ❞

In this episode, we cover the good (bad and ugly) of roleplayer qualities/behaviors and the kind of people they are. The episode is done in a format of a contributory conversation from a list of RP pet peeves shared by Host and independent contributors (mutuals).
general triggers warning: I do not censor/put filter on what I am saying as I am reading out people's POVs or generally talk about NSFW topics. if you are easily triggered/offended, shoo. <3

Mun talks about the Muse
Tumblr media
💔Least favorite ship for the muse?
I actually do not think that I have a least favorite ship with Jun Wu because people are too scared to allow him into the shipping scene. If I had to pick, I think Jun Wu x Hua Cheng just would not work. Not bc both of these men are obsessed with Xie Lian but on principal, it just does not work even with XL out of the picture. Jun Wu/White No Face is the kind of extremist that Hua Cheng would not notice/abandon in the end because he is too all over the place and non-committal to right things. WNF just wants to do his own thing and does not care for people. And yes, he will remind Hua Cheng daily that he is ugly as fuck. (even though it is hypocritical)
💢Something about the muse that annoys you?
My god, he is so whiny. His mood switches on the hourly, he does not like things not going his way so he turns around and changes the entire narrative of a reply just because. He bounces off the walls. Which can make him exciting but often ruins MY plans with where the plot is going.
🔥 Unpopular opinion about your muse?
A hot take that some of you sensitive TGCF "fans" cannot handle, is that Jun Wu wasn't fucking wrong. Did he need to commit massacres? No, but he was abandoned by his own people who were too blinded by divinity to understand that some things are really out of a royal's control. Jun Wu's perfectionism and overburdened duty was his ruin. He was ABANDONED by his advisors and everyone just decided to forget about him because he tried his best to save his kingdom. And yes, he tormented Xie Lian because he is just unconditionally loved for being a fuck-up, HOWEVER, Bai Wuxiang's lessons are actually not that bad? In retrospect, people stabbed Xie Lian over a hundred times to save their skin. All humans are animals and will become selfish when survival is under question. People are like rats. So what Xie Lian is immortal? Can he not feel pain? Agony? People did not care about it and Bai Wuxiang continued to give him harsh lessons to remind him that people will pray to a god as long as it benefits THEM. And tbh? Look at the modern religious mishandling. I am juuuuuust saying, maybe Jun Wu wasn't fucking wrong. (But even a toddler understands the atrocities he committed are extreme as fuck and he is definitely insane. I will never allow him to be redeemed but I think he deserves to be understood).
📝 Favorite headcanon for your muse?
His spider and centipede apparitions that crawl out of his mask are manifestations of his resentment and rage. The more fury he feels, the more insects crawl out of him. They are harmless, do not bite, and if they are consumed, they will a person with dread and unresolved trauma BWX cannot process. I also like the headcanon of Willow Hollow. Basically, it is a space without time, without wind, without flora and fauna, drenched in gray and white. These are desaturated fragments of WNF's memories from Wuyong. He had gardens of willow trees that are now hollow ghosts he likes to sit upon when he does not want to be Jun Wu or Bai Wuxiang, but just himself(?) in a way.
🌌Favorite alternate version of the muse?
You know? The Scum Landlord. I am NOT GONNA LIE, that one is fucking hilarious. But also, I do like his Prince of Poppies verse. This is a verse of the before Wuyong fell and then after where BWX spends days in his "reality", the in-between hallucinations of his former self.
