i first watched ohshc when i was like 10 on a bootleg dvd bought off a bootleg anime con in mexico (licensed items are for first worlders, real otakus make do...) and who knows where the japanese to spanish subs came from, probably a hero-without-cape rogue translation team doing their best, but in the scene from the pilot where tamaki is helping haruhi gather her stuff from the fountain there was a line in the subs that was something like "water cannot harm handsome men" and when i tell you that this is something i have quoted my entire life whenever i'm caught up in the rain or get splashed on or whatever and it makes it not a big deal. water literally cannot harm handsome men. that's literally a proverb from the bible. to me. anyway imagine my surprise when a couple years ago i made my bestie watch ohshc with licensed english subs and tamaki at no point says this neither on netflix nor any other translation i could find online. well he said it in my heart

I mean…Paul is widely regarded as being the anti hero, it’s pretty mainstream, you’d think Daenerys’s is too but…I guess her POVs are too well written.
There has been speculation for years that GRRM will remove her POV in future books, as she gets progressively worse.
Frankly, she burnt a slave alive to get her dragons in book 1. You’d think that would have give a clue to some people. 😬
yeah, for sure the interpretation of paul as tragic villain rather than hero is the generally accepted interpretation. however, that doesn't mean that casual readers really get that, especially the ones who don't read past the first novel!
in dany's case, it's even worse, considering that people have read four books' worth of her POVs and a lot of them apparently still don't get it. her turn BEGINS in book 1, culminating in the horrific murder of mirri. but i guess grrm just wrote that POV trap TOO well. (but HOW???? HOW?????)
i mean, it IS interesting that she breaks grrm's rule of "no king POVs" so it would be interesting if, once she gets to westeros and declares herself a westerosi queen, we lose her POV.
frankly, though, i would prefer to keep her POV until the end. a huge part of her character is the way she closes her eyes to difficult truths and rationalizes away her own mistakes, and i think we should see her continue to do that even as the crimes she is rationalizing become worse and worse. part of this story is the whole "the hero of one side is the other side's villain" thing, so if dany is one of the ultimate villains of the story, we should see things from her side!

Just saw a post asking how tall people are and now I want to make it a poll. Apologies to people in the fringe height categories, you do not get specifics.
I had to consult a chart for this

Thanks for all the feedback in the previous picture. I was honestly desperate at some point. Biggest change I did was remove the tree and the branches. I liked the idea of Godswood, but it was best to let it go, even if I made so many textures and branch variations with brush. It was a kill your darling situation haha…but I’m glad I did it. It made it easier for me to return to my original idea, which was that I really wanted to include that quote, and atmosphere changed too, with starry sky and dark forest giving a small breather from all the stuff around.

“Brienne’s story is an adaptation of a traditionally male narrative, one that usually sidelines or victimises female characters. She swears fealty to a woman, as male knights swear to their liege lord, because she respects that woman’s strength, her bravery and her kindness. She goes on a quest to save the beautiful maiden, but not to marry her or benefit from the quest in any way, but to return her to her mother. Because she cares for Catelyn, and because it is the right thing to do. It is a story of a woman, rescuing a woman, for the sake of another woman. It is a rare story where the mother, the young girl and the shieldmaiden are all given equal weight and worth. Brienne, despite taking on many stereotypically male traits, is not “one of the boys” or in any way dismissive of her gender as a group. She does not fit into the role that society has assigned for her, but she does not disparage those who do. She uses her strength and her skill to respect and help other women in ways that most men in Westeros would never even think to attempt, because she understands, more than any other knight, that women are truly worth something as individuals.”
