I've seen the discourse about the egg joke thing going around. Mostly some people saying it's transmisogynistic to question the egg jokes.

Here's my take, as someone who has, actually "hatched" a few eggs (I don't like the term cracking. Cracking an egg kills the bird.)

You don't crack an egg by insisting that person is trans. You don't help anyone come out by making jokes at their expense and possibly put them in danger if their in a conservative area. No. You hatch an egg by BEING THERE. by providing a safe space. If you notice some signs, maybe ask them how they feel, if they deny being trans, shrug, go "I'll be here for you no matter what" and move on. If they seem interested, you help them out!

There's a fine line between denying that anyone is trans ever and going "every man who does this is actually a women" a dress does not a women make. Identity does though. And I've seen many accounts from trans women who say the egg jokes didn't help them at best, and hindered their transition at worst.

I've had my own identity (genderfluid) treated as though it's a stepping stone to "actually" coming out. People who take me more seriously when I'm a binary gender (which I hardly ever am.) who ask if I've figured it out yet.

Cracking an egg kills the bird. Hatching an egg is better. You're killing birds trying to take credit for their feathers.

I was in cadets as a kid-teen, you know, the military's version of boy scouts. Anyways, every year on remembrance day they'd drag us all to do a parade.

The second year of this, some guy went up, a veteran. He talked about how hard being in the military can be, how traumatizing it is, and he shared a story. See, a bunch of soldiers were trying to get aid to some group, I don't remember what group, this was years ago. Anyways they ran into some trouble, armed resistance. But, shock, terror, the armed resistance was children! With... Like, shitty guns and slingshots. The guy speaking said that the enemy group (I think he called them terrorists, or maybe rebels?) armed children to try and throw off the soldiers. So the soldiers called their supervisor, then that supervisor called their supervisor and blah blah until... It reached the guy speaking.

He said it was so horrible having to order those soldiers to shoot at a bunch of kids.

I quit cadets the next year and became a very outspoken anti-military person in my highschool. Multiple people yelled at me for "disrespecting" their family. People thought I was naive for saying we should get ride of the military, ("how will we defend ourselves?") said I didn't know how the world worked. Multiple people from my home city enlisted. They weren't poor. They used the usual justifications, college, university, money. Money money.

Oh. and I'm Canadian.

What, you thought it was the states? No no, "Canada" is an imperial power that kills children constantly. It is no better then the states and benefits from all the same murders. "Tragic events" but only for the soldiers. Not the people killed and families destroyed. Not for the Homes ruined and environments strip mined. Just our soldiers.

This is from the pitch bible for earthspark. On a serious note, the show does have an ableism problem. It's... subtle if you aren't looking for it. But it really does feel like they gave Dot a prosthetic just so they could point to her and go "SEE? we have a physically disabled main character! This makes our disabled main villain who wants to commit genocide ok :3" On top of that, Mandroids' prosthetic is 1. Stolen from a living being, and 2. Always visible. you cannot miss it. It's twice his size, and clunky, It's always in view. Dots'? It's hidden. Often. You can forget it's there. Cover with pant legs and never make it relevant aside from when Nightshade fucks with it in the episode that makes no sense.

Mandroid is allowed to be physically limited because he is the villain. If you're limited by your disabilities, you are bad. Weak, you "complain." The only time we see Dot inconvenienced by her prosthetic is when she DOESNT HAVE IT ON. (Or when Nightshade messes with it.)

I was so happy when I saw Dot had a prosthetic leg, while it isn't my specific disability (I have my legs they just hate me), it was still disability rep. And they fucked it up.

Don't post pictures of protests, if you do (even though you SHOULDNT) blur faces.

Bring water with a nozzle cap, use it to flush people's eyes if they get tear gassed or pepper sprayed. Bring a sperate bottle of water to drink. If you feel you can risk it, bring a third to diffuse tear gas (place a street cone over the canister and dump water on it)

Black bloc. Non descript clothing, wear a mask. Goggles are good to bring. Try to put some padding in there for armour just in case. Rubber bullets hurt, and can and do kill people.

Don't bring your phone. Either get a burner or write down numbers on yourself with Sharpie (better yet, memorize the numbers). Cover all tattoos, piercings, dyed hair, and scars.

Don't talk to cops. ONLY say you won't talk without a lawyer present ("I'm invoking my right to remain silent and my right to legal counsel".)

Get CPR certified if you can, it's useful. Try to learn basic first aid.

The prisoner dilemma is solved. The solution? Don't say anything. Do not snitch. Do not identify your fellow protesters, the cops are lying to you.

Not everyone who does violence is a fed or infiltrator. There are actual ways to identify those bastards without throwing your fellow protesters under the bus.

From the Heart of the Rubble… A Final Call

I am a young man from Gaza. I am only twenty years old, but I have already experienced enough pain to last a lifetime. A few days ago, a rocket fell on our home… the home that held our memories, our warmth, and our simple security. Everything was gone in seconds.

Started playing baldurs gate and obviously one of my favs is ol' ass boy (astarion) and I'm romancing him (because I have a TYPE) and I got to the first ahem... Romance scene, and my computer CRASHED immediately after ass boy walked out from behind the trees like he's from FUCKING TWILIGHT.

Computer couldn't handle him 😔 also side note he's so cringe. Love him. He's also constantly the MVP in my fights idk why this elf is always outliving everyone but he is.

Side note. Totally unrelated. But uhhh might write a baldurs gate fic. Because I totally didn't get too attached to the made up lore for my Tav and now wanna write them. Totally. Ha ha...
