Argus' arcane skill line is a reference to Inferno.

"And thence we came forth to see again the stars." is the final line from Dante Alighieri's Inferno. It comes from Canto XXXIV (34), its original text being: "E quindi uscimmo a riveder le stelle"

In Inferno, the line refers to when Dante and Virgil climb out from Hell on the opposite side of the world through the body of Satan and cross through the centre of the universe, emerging into the fictitious land mass named purgatory. Dante described that the skies were full of stars that night. From there, Inferno ends, and Purgatorio begins in Dante's Divine Comedy trilogy.
