Bringing this back into public consciousness, it's the original pitch bible for season 1! (called s2 back then).

And other character quirks I love about Zane; he's so gentle with all life. When he didn't know the falcon was a robot, Zane treated it very gently and with care. Even after he knew, he still cared about the falcon deeply.
But it doesn't just stop at his falcon. In flashbacks to when he lived with Dr Julian, we see Zane gently holding a butterfly in his hands, then letting it go and watching it fly away. In season 3, we see him very gently hold an alien bug and let it crawl all over him. Zane only becomes hostile when the bugs start eating him which is pretty reasonable tbh.
He also constantly refers to them with little nicknames!!!! "Hello old friend" "my mysterious friend" "little friend"
Zane's always been so fascinated by life AND gentle and kind with it and I love him very much.

It’s so irrationally funny to me that all of the main ninja have a connection to the theme “destiny is inevitable and cruel” in some major way and it shapes them as a character and how they see the world and how they respond to it and then jay is also there.

Garmadon was bit by the Great Devourer as a child, right? And all things considered it's reasonable to assume that he and Wu are both several hundred years old. Yet for all that time he managed to resist the venom's thrall, holding onto his goodness even during the Serpentine War and battle against the Time Twins (both of which would have happened relatively recently in Ninjago history).
There's also the fact that in season 2 Misako mentions there was still good in him when Lloyd had been born - not to mention that he was banished to the Underworld not long after the evil finally took complete control, and I highly doubt Misako would have taken a trip all the way down there just to make a baby with him. So it would make sense that Garmadon only became fully evil during Lloyd's infancy. And Lloyd is the youngest member of the ninja team, which means Garmadon's fall into darkness is a fairly new development.
Garmadon managed to resist the venom and struggle against its darkness for centuries. For most of his life! Only in the most recent decade or so did he finally fall into villainy, and even then he still managed to hold onto his love for his wife and son.
Damn. Talk about emotional strength. Garmadon deserved better.
