Women’s basketball has reached its all time prime due to some of the committed and dedicated young women . Previously known for its lack of entertainment due to the force of men’s basketball , women have took the back burner of a lot of American sports . Big college teams like the LSU Tigers ,Iowa Hawkeyes, UConn huskies , and the South Carolina gamecocks all produce massive attraction and are valuable players of the NCAA franchise. These ladies have grown a passion for this sport and provided a great example of how to illustrate their talent in a healthy competitive manner. It is safe to say that women has become the leaders of the sport basketball. While still being a predominantly male sport , college women in particular and other aspiring ladies have worked extremely hard to bring awareness, perspective , and insight on women’s basketball. Gender equality is challenged by comparing the characteristics and nature of how each individual plays the game . Emotion, sportsmanship, and leadership all strike importance in primetime basketball. Many young talented women are being targeted and ridicule for the aggressive emotion they express while on the court . One lady named Angel Reese has found success in media and also on the court. Her competitiveness has brought excitement and entertainment to women’s basketball but on the contrary her competitiveness is also deemed unlady like by the general public. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding angel Reese in her competitiveness and how much passion she express on the court. A big issue that has progressed in women’s basketball has been the rivalry between Angel Reese and Caittlin Clark. Both are talented young ladies who share a passion for the sport, but unfortunately resonates in different ethnicities. Numerous racial comments have been plastered about the competitiveness of Angel Reese, but none has been recorded or stressed for her opponent Caitlin . Nevertheless, both women proved to be an examples of how gender equality influence behavior characteristics and stereotypic environments.

Racism has start to become very transparent in modern media. The influence and projection of black artist, black creatives, and black influencers around the world, are starting to bleed into the narrative of white supremacy . Music sensation, Beyoncé Knowles Carter just dropped her country music album. This album was made in response to the rejection and racial comments she experienced after her performance in 2016 at the country music awards. This performance was very special because it was a 50 anniversary of the award show. The music sensation shared the stage with the Dexi chicks , another country girl group, and performed her song “Daddy’s lessons” from her previous album Lemonade. Although Beyoncé Carter was ranked the top performance of the night. Doubling the views of any other performer or speaker, she still received backlash from the crowd country fans in attendance. Through her innovative passion she has produced on COWBOY CARTER it debuts at number one. Instead of congratulating the legend most media platforms are expressing the concerns of country music fans. Some blogs express the narrative of explicit lyrics, which do not fit the accustom of country music. No one talks about how Taylor Swift, a Debut country artist has switched into a pop sensation. Nevertheless, when a black, independent artist, like Beyoncé decides to explore her taste in different genres , she gets ridicule from the success that comes with her hard work. There’s also ridicule placed upon her for the ample of amount of success that she has seen throughout her career. Aside for racism , colorism is also a predominant factor within the black community. Even though Beyoncé is black, a lot of darker skinned people ridicule her or place hatred upon her vision due to the lighter color of her skin. To add another perspective, she doesn’t receive the recognition that she deserves, especially in comparison to her male counterparts or white musicians.

Analyzing the LGBTQ community, and how they are perceived by mass media contains a lot of depth through perspective. Cross-dressing, transgender, or different forms of LGBTQ awareness is usually joked about and not fully understood through the lens of television film and mass media . After analyzing the background and perception of Beverly La Salle’s in Edith crisis of faith, I now understand that the stereotype of transgender or any person in LGBT community has been falsely promoted through different forms of media. From the first appearance in television from a cross dresser, the goal of the character was to be made fun of in a comedic way. The difference in significance of the role Beverly , resonated and relied in the honest and integrity of her character. The character made it very clear who she really is to eliminate any, and all false narrative, the general public might place upon her .In this TV sitcom, she expresses that she does not want others to think that she is something that she is not. Most films of television utilizing the LGBT community are made fun of and exiled for being different. In modern day time self identity has become very complex. Forcing habits while also incorporating new forms of identities and pronouns have been this generations prerogative. The only way to accumulate the right perspective and eliminate the stereotype over the community is to distract and dissect the planted narrative that have been resurfacing since silent films in 1914. Within the community you have influencers who promote awareness for the general public which helps replace the false narrative with the right perception of the community. A lot of confusion and divert narrative in mass media comes from the lack of knowledge within the LGBTQ community. Awareness is linked to knowledge , someone who is unfamiliar with the subject cannot begin to fandom the complexity of issues that community faces.

Analyzing the narrative and perspective of Asian Americans opens the researchers objective towards social and stereotypical identity. Many Asian Americans in our country contain a hard conflict with the place of judgment, given by other ethnicities or minorities . For most Asian Americans, the root of the problem relies in the lack of knowledge the average American has regarding the history of their origin. Most Americans aren’t equipped with basic demographic knowledge to decipher Asia from Africa. The definition of change and move in reference to many Asian Americans differ when it comes to reasonings. On one side of the Spectrum you have many Asian Americans, who seek a future in states due to better education, better opportunities, and a fresh start .On the other side of the spectrum, you have Asian Americans, who have no choice but to find refugee in the states due to war or untimely events. Another perspective that Asian Americans undergo is the right of privilege. Asian Americans are perceived in a higher light than what reality puts them in. Being Asian, American is not subject to riches due to its extensive background . Some children of Asian American immigrants explain that their childhood was not easy, being a refuge in the states does not permit you top-of-the-line resources, or the best opportunities. When it comes to things of such sort , it is not taking into consideration when providing purpose for Asian Americans. The stereotypical justification placed on Asian Americans are directed from fear of change and support. Censored government and social communities have restricted change in evolution for the human race inside our nation. This place is a restriction on Asian Americans, who seek unity and equality through ethical measures. By educating ourselves, with Asian history and other cultural influences, we open our mind and perspectives into a welcoming nation.

Equality , gender norms and stereotypic labels have all been critical and crucial issues placed upon the NFL. From battling crisis identity with native Americans of the name “ Redskins “ represented by the Washington football team to the racial backlash, received by Colin Kaepernick after taking a knee during the national anthem to support black lives matter. This franchise has its history of political and social issues being promoted through its organization. Due to its long traditional presence in American history it is bound for the franchise to undergo some modern changes , but at what point do we start blaming the franchise for the mistakes seeping through the cracks.
Taking a step back and reflecting upon the documentary “behind the shield, power and politics in the NFL” Dave Zerrin does an excellent job highlighting and analyzing some of the critical improvements needed in the NFL franchise. In my opinion the franchise used the agenda setting function to present the issue with Colin Kaepernick, but not highlighting the fact of what he was advocating for. Police brutality, and killing of minorities was a major nation crisis, but instead of supporting Colin Kaepernick in his protest, this franchise chose to highlight his misconduct .Taking a knee during the signing of the national anthem is a one-man protest and by doing so put a huge target of his back .Collin unfortunately endure symbolic annihilation from the NFL franchise . “Black balling” is a term use when a person is being denied work due to an event or action they have caused. Colin Kaepernick was unable to pursue his career due to his one-man protest. He was labeled as disrespectful and was forecast in the same light as criminals for standing up for what he believed in. Mostly all crucial events presented through this franchise, have been severely monitored and diffused, but at what point does the organization take initiative within its own moral values ? Does every issue need a protest ? Does every racial slur need a lawsuit?

in the world we live in there are some particular standards that raise question in the ruling we called self expression . Ideal female Image is an expression placed on women that creates a gap in gender equality. This stereotype can be placed on several women throughout numerous ethnic groups and cultures. Femininity also comes with the ideal image of masculinity. Routines and traditions that have been expected and practiced by men and women in civilization have now been labeled the cause in identity controversy. Broken down, there can be many reason linked to the false spread of advertisement women undergo on a regular day basis. In killing us softly, Jean Kilbourne explains the presentation women receive through the lens of advertisement. Advertisement is a huge media platform used to promote different types of products, people , and or events. Advertisements can be linked to other forms of media, like acting , modeling , photography, and music. No matter what similar extension you name, the general public still holds women appearance at a certain standard. They have been made up to match this specific image chosen by idealistic degenerate, men. Jean explains women around the world, strive and fantasize their bodies over the wrong reasons. She explains women critique themselves and judge on unhealthy manner due to the false advertisement of the stereotypical beautiful woman. One of the most memorable lines Jean Kilbourne expresses is “failure is inevitable” for the female human species. As she takes us on a series of Images of women in advertisement , she explains all of these women are portrayed flawless without any wrinkles, lines, or natural marks that you would normally find on an average woman. Equality through finances, power , politics or even freedom will not be secured until foundational norms link to ideal Images and stereotypes be lifted on our general civilization.

The black press can be seen as an essential form of protest used by a single form of community . African-Americans resulted in press advocacy in order to uplift ,connect, and as we’ve now modernized it, “Network” . For African-Americans the black press was a form of debate . With the pin as their weapon, their voices were finally heard. Throughout history, many ethnic groups, groups of power, and forms of organization have gathered together to sort out creations and movements, such as the black press. Sometimes the first and second amendment isn’t enough to secure your right to freedom of speech. As evolution progresses media progresses as well with many different resources of advocacy. Sometimes as an individual or group of people, somethings are needed to promote or further highlight. Such as events, achievements, and sometimes crisis. Following African-American history , in the 1960s the telephone was altered into another black press inspired Creation. Telephones had been around for a minute but could still be seen dangerous as operators were predominantly white. This presented an issue in hopes of relating messages to black organizations . Sometimes White operators would block the call intended for direct, partners. The telephone was used to spread crisis and big events as well for civil rights movements. This information was to used and received by organizations who then counteract the crisis. In most recent times, African-Americans have used Black Lives Matter as a media outlet to promote and highlight police brutality in America. This can be an extension of media by overstimulating a source intended for specific cause. Media today has been used and promoted as the world’s first source of communication . Soon it will be our first source of news. Following the murder of George Floyd , African-Americans acted together to interfere with some of everyday lives norms such as routines and structure algorithms. Black lives matters, and blackout Tuesday was made in hope of protest and awareness of a crisis one single community is facing.

After watching the Ted Talks video titled “Looks aren’t everything, believe me, I’m a model. “ It shines a specific light on the perception the general public foreshadows on models vs how the models view themselves. The keynote speaker who has been a model for ongoing 10 years explains that what we see on the cover of magazines isn’t her. She explains that most models are constructed by different departments of fashion to make up this concept that is curated from a collective vision. Models are seen as women who are confident and sexy, but on the contrary, most models are insecure and constantly worrying about their appearance. The speaker explains these photos are just a mirror image of what someone wants to create, the originality sits in conversation and personality. Portraying women as just an object of lust is degrading, and does not nearly demonstrate the knowledge and capability that many models have other than their appearance. Women face some of the same circumstantial issues in real life, and sometimes through other forms of storytelling in media. A hit HBO Max TV series called Insecure touches bases on a lot of controversial issues regarding gender, power, equality, and self-individualism. Molly the main character’s best friend is a black, successful attorney, working at a predominantly white male law firm. In the show, her character expresses how hard it is to make a decision of choosing herself, and wanting more after realizing, her white male colleague makes double the amount. Even after meetings with her higher-ups and conversation of soon finding higher pay elsewhere, she still find herself in an uncertain position, negotiating what should be rightfully hers. The current understanding that society places on women and power is not valid. Many times women are equipped with better resources, knowledge and preparation for positions they are overlooked for. If your opinion differ through the lens of power and statistics given to men and women , I ask that you think of your female family members . Would you want your love ones cheated of life opportunities because of some egotistic ruling ? #insecure #hbo #tedtalk #model #womeninpower #powerofwomen
