[ … ] ❀ you’re not from around here , are you? i figured because you totally just missed levi park walking by. don’t tell me you don’t know who he is ? they kind of look like byun baekhyun and i could be wrong but i think that they might be thirty-one years old right now. they’ve been living in palmview for the last ten years. and i don’t know if anyone has ever told them this before but they kind of remind me of seth cohen from the oc. if you stick around the town long enough you might catch them in action working at palmview university as an it guy. you see this town isn’t really that big of a place, some folks like to call them the geek of palmview ! they took a liking to the name too after a while, go figure. oh crap, they must have heard me yapping. they’re coming this way. i got to warn you though, rumor has it they can pretty snarky at times. i wouldn’t take it too seriously though, from the times i’ve spoken to them they seemed pretty thoughtful to me. we see each other all the time since they live in that one bedroom apartment beside me over in ocean's edge. i better leave you to it. it was nice meeting you !
+ levi park, born on august 13th, in the city of new york, is a bit of a disaster. son to a renowned physicist and a successful architect, he grew up knowing fully well what was expected of him. pick a field, triumph, buy a house, have sons. it was pretty straightforward!
+ now, don't get him wrong, his parents were great and they loved him. they thought the sun rose and set on levi, for better or for worse. his dad was never good at showing it, but levi knew, even if he never said it or let it show in any way, because surely he loved him. he was like, 80% sure. maybe 85%, on a good day.
+ ever since elementary school, levi was great being a student, and not so great at being, you know, a kid. it was hard for him to connect with other children his age, he was very shy, and could not for the life of him understand most of the things that they enjoyed. he really, really liked books, and that didn't seem to be very popular. he also really, really cared about getting good grades, and he was a little thrilled not a lot of other kids cared that much because it allowed him to be first of his class without much struggle. that's how he made his first friend, by finding the only other person who took it personally when he scored higher than them on a test.
+ as he got older, his path became clearer. he liked maths and physics and he definitely wasn't looking to earn his dad's love by following in his footsteps, it was totally his own choice. a hundred per cent. he lost his mind a little the last few years of high school, making sure he would get into a good college, make his dad proud. he applied to only the best, and surprising no one, got into princeton. everything was going his way.
+ college was hard. it was really, really hard. and there were so many temptations, so many things levi had pretended didn't exist, parties, stuff. all sorts of stuff. his roommate, a very rich boy with no intentions of graduating top of anything, saw levi as a project, someone he needed to push out of their shell, and taught him many things. suddenly, levi was having fun, for the first time in forever.
+ it was amazing, but it didn't last long. all that pressure building up inside him combined with suddenly letting loose turned into a bomb that went off, ending up with levi failing out, and his life collapsing right in front of his eyes. he went home, faced his dad, and some harsh words were exchanged, including how really, he had always known it would end like this for levi. he always saw the truth about his son, which was that he just didn't have it in him.
+ at twenty one, and with the help of his mom, levi moved across the country. he took some online classes, got a job, and discovered the world of computers, where he could spend hours and hours burning his eyelashes on the screen, fixing bugs, finding glitches. he was good at it. it made him feel a little less like a failure. and above all, palmview was the complete opposite from new york. no one knew his name, no one knew his dad, he could be his own, brand new person. no need to dwell in the past, right?
+ he's still got some scars, because parents traumatize you the best, but he's made a life for himself in palmview. he has a bit of a tendency to keep people at arm's length, just in case he disappoints them, but he's doing alright. he lives by himself, has been thinking of getting a dog, works out. he's fine, really. i promise.
