Angel Eyes

(( An idea that popped into my head after listening to too much of the "Mamma Mia!" Soundtrack on repeat. It's just a blurb, but if you enjoy it, I might write it into something more! Enjoy your angst.)) ---

Kurt pulls his gray zip-up closed, shivering as the cool off-shore breeze ruffles his dark curls. He’d been feeling rather listless lately, the usual feeling of loneliness he felt between missions beginning to creep back in again. That was the bad part about being an X-man he supposed, the lack of attachments. Sure, he had his friends and sister, Anna Marie, but no one to hold and call his own; at least, not at the moment.

 Stuck in his head, he walks the river path as the darkness begins to creep in, tail swishing behind him as he listens to the breeze and the sound of people passing by as he takes in the cool autumn evening. His eyes stick to the path immediately in front of him, only wandering occasionally as he continues his stroll. It’s not until he hears a familiar laugh that his gaze is torn from the pavement, searching the vicinity around him. His eyes land on a pair of familiar figures, perched under a street lamp a ways up the path. 

Logan Howlette leans against the lamp post with his leather jacket slung over his arm, smile wide as he chats with none other than Ororo Munroe. It was odd to see them out together, but by the way they stood close, Logan’s hand over hers, he could only assume that they were on a date. Kurt tries not to stare, but as he watches Logan flash that familiar smile, he feels his heart sink. Ororo laughs, a blush rising to her cheeks as she leans in closer to him, brushing a kiss against his lips. 

Averting his gaze, Kurt continues on his way wordlessly as memories of fleeting touches and shared proximity flash back into his mind, the smell of cigar smoke, leather, and woods fresh in his memory. As he passes them on the footpath, he can’t help but see a flash of clear baby blues in his mind, having memorized the way Logan’s eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled or laughed. It was the worst mistake he’d ever made, taking his best friend as his lover, only to lose him. 

Kurt knew what game he’d gotten into, but something in him thought he could change Logan’s mind, that eventually he’d settle down and the need to sow his wild oats would pass; Unfortunately, The Wolverine was not one to be tamed. The hold he had on Kurt’s mind and soul was no joke.

As he reaches his apartment, he shuts and locks the door behind him, falling against the smooth wood of the door as he slowly slides down to the floor. Pulling his knees to his chest, Kurt’s mind continues to plague him as he closes his eyes, attempting to will away the phantom sensation of Logan’s calloused fingers over his body, rough kisses ghosting over his shoulders and lips, the curve of his smile, and worst of all, those blue eyes that seared themselves squarely into the front of his mind. Everything else he could almost forget, save for that familiar gaze.

What's your favorite part of the fic going to be? As long as that isn't too spoilery to ask

Bri: I’m so obsessed with all of it that it’s hard to even consider choosing! But personally (this is going to sound awful lol) I just can’t wait to repeatedly hurt Remy (mostly expanding on canon things, pulled from various versions) but then actually focus on his trauma, his processing, and eventually working towards healing

But those things mostly don’t occur in a sequence like that because it hits a point where ‘getting kicked while you’re down’ doesn’t even begin to describe what we’re doing to him. Oops 💕

Beau: Mine is a little specific but it's probably one thing I'm looking forward to the most other than actually dealing with his trauma.

Without saying when, where, or in what context, my favorite upcoming part may or may not include just a tiny little amount of Deathbit, won't confirm or deny that though lol.

I can promise though, he does not show up in the way you would expect and I feel like the route we took with it just makes it all the more fun and painful. Gotta have some hurt to have some comfort after all!

Caught up to everything we have written so far, was a little off in the guess but still quite a hefty chunk!

loving the fic so far ^^ how long is it gonna be??

Soo, kinda funny you ask that! The short answer is that we don't really know. But long. It's gonna be probably kinda ridiculously long. We joked about setting a fanfic world record and it might actually happen now, really no bragging meant.

The long answer is that after compiling about two weeks worth of replies to be sorted into chapters and edited to read a little smoother, we're at about 70k words. We have about 9 more weeks worth of writing to compile so if we put that to the same amount as we have now, that's like, 315k more words to go. Plus all we have left to write as well. And we've only hit three out of the 21 plot points we currently have planned, and that's not even near the end soooo.... yeah.

That's also to say nothing of the side stories we have related to the main fic that will be posted separately.
