I’m finishing up my series, Indiana, with this.

I’m always intimidated to write. Especially in an arena with so many fantastic creatives. What sounds great in my head, never comes across the page like I want it. I can’t figure out how to write dialogue effectively. I’m terrible at setting the scene.

Ugh yes. Let’s just say it’s been a BUSY few weeks. No time to sit and write like I want to. And to be honest, ch. 4 of “Take Care of Her” took me on a roller coaster. It had some mixed reviews from people. So, seeing this makes me want to revisit soon. Thank you for this 🥺💕

Well that just hit me in the feels.

I was rewatching New Order recently, and in the scene where the guys are running through the forest trying to save Sam I’ve always wondered about Daniel’s black jacket and green pants combo.  Possibly a sign I rewatch too often, but not sure there’s any such thing.  I know there is probably an established answer to this, but I’ve decided that Daniel is wearing Sam’s jacket that she left on Thor’s ship, which inspired this short fic.  

“Do we have any more gear?” Jack asked.  

“Thor beamed all our equipment over.  I believe there are additional vests in the top crate,” Teal’c responded.  

Daniel knelt down flipped the latches open and pushed the top up.  Then stopped.  Sitting on top was Sam’s black jacket.  His heart caught in his throat and he felt the faint control he had been holding on to since Teal’c had said the ship she was on had been destroyed slip away.   

He brushed his fingers across the fabric picturing her wearing it the last time he had seen her.  She had hugged him before boarding the Tel'tak with Teal’c.  Turning, she smiled and gave him a brief wave before the door slid shut behind her.  He squeezed his eyes shut.  Sam. 

They were incomplete without her.  Frayed at the edges.  They were all barely holding it together.  Even worse than having Teal’c tell him was hearing him tell Jack.  All the color left his face and Daniel could see his knees threatening to give out.  He clenched his fists and a thousand emotions played across his face before he turned his back on them.  None of them could afford to deal with it now.  

When they saw her in the Replicator chatter the relief that flooded him was enough to knock him off his feet.  There was a chance now that she was alive.  That they could get her back.  It was hope that Daniel was clinging to with everything he had

“Daniel?”  Jack was using the tone of voice when he’d had to repeat himself.  

“W-what?” Daniel said, clearing his voice.  

“I said, can I get a vest?”

Daniel pushed the jacket to the side, and pulled out a vest and handed it over his shoulder to Jack.  He grabbed one for himself, went to close the case, but hesitated, and grabbed the black jacket.  He stood up, stripped off his green shirt and slipped Sam’s jacket on.  It was a little tight across the back, but he zipped it up with no problem. 

He turned around and Jack looked at him quizzically a second before starting when he recognized it.  He gave Daniel a slow nod and Daniel nodded back.  

“Beam us down Thor,” he said.

Reading multiple fic simultaneously is like working triage. Currently, I’ve got one character bleeding out from a gunshot wound, another two are in the middle of falling in love and can’t seem to figure it out, one is missing in action, and another can’t remember the past two weeks.
