This is beautiful
The Court of a Thousand Wishes
She rubbed her eyes and awoke to a tableau of color upon a plateau of trees, wonders, creatures in slumber, while above, through and under in this shining dominion of Summer, ageless feasting, singing, dancing, prancing through the flora on display, while beasts, predators and prey sit together like beloved friends, groups of old men in robes pray. A subtle touch graces her hair, she turns, sees a woman: tall, fair, impossibly beautiful, yet she is, eyes the bluest shade of hue as she smiles, cavorts past, shouting “at last!” to the grand repast, “a new mortal has found her way,” glancing slyly her way, whispers, “tell me, young one, your wishes, what do you ask of Fae today?”

2017 monthly calendar printables
Today I am finally bringing you my 2017 calendar printables! I decided to give you a lot more options than my previous version of them. I’ve made three different designs, all with different pastel colour options. I was also receiving a lot of messages asking for my calendars and other printables to have versions starting on a Sunday, so I’ve included them too.
For ease, I’ve created entire Google Drive folders for each design (version one being the top, two being the middle, and three the bottom), then separated by their starting day. You can then chose your preferred colour and print! The files are in PDF form and feature all 12 months of the year. Click the links below to pick your calendar!
Version one folder Version two folder Version three folder
I hope you enjoy using these and if so, I’d love to see them in action! Feel free to tag me on Tumblr with #emmastudies or on Instagram with my username @emmastudiess in any photos you upload. If there are any problems or errors, please let me know via my inbox.
Disclaimer: This printable is for personal use only. You may edit it yourself if you like, but please do not redistribute without my permission. Thank you!

Same... And forgetting the end of your sentence because you made eye contact with someone seeming even remotely bored or uninterested. And slowly (or not so slowly) lowering your voice because you realise no one cares (even if they say they so), or because someone interrupted you (again) and everyone is suddenly paying much more attention than when you were talking. Even though you know it's probably just in your head... That doesn't mean it's not real.
social anxiety isn’t just quiet people who are shy!!! i may be talking a lot but internally i’m panicking and punching myself in the face for every word that comes out of my mouth thank u

I know I run a book blog so maybe this isn’t the right platform for this, but girls: Please look out for other girls. Tonight I was stuck at a bus stop in Shoreditch circa 2 AM and saw another young woman getting harassed by a drunk, aggressive dude, and at first I thought, “She’s got it under control.” But then he started touching her and I went “No, that’s definitely not right.” So I barged over and shoved him out of the way and said, “Beth?? Oh my God, how are you, I haven’t seen you since grade school!” And this girl I’d never seen before in my life threw her arms around my neck and whispered, “You are an angel, thank God.” We talked for fifteen minutes, the creep lost interest, I watched her get on the bus and I will sleep so much better knowing she got home in one piece. If you see something weird happening, intervene. The worst that can happen is embarrassment, and I think that’s worth the risk when you consider the alternative.

I just got around to watching the live action Beauty and the Beast; I really liked it.
Despite a lot of the complaining about the attempts at gay representation in it, such as it was almost non existent or barely there; I think it was done tastefully.
It wasn’t like a HEY WE’RE MAKING A POLITICAL STATEMENT!!!!! It was more like a “the main characters are the focus of this story, they happen to be straight; however brown people and gays exist. This is what it looks like when they’re part of a society that’s accepting enough it doesn’t have to be a thing “

3 Study Methods You Should Use More Often
This was originally for an article writing assignment, but I thought “why not write something I can also post on my blog?” so here are three study methods that I haven’t seen a lot of in the studyblr community but are definitely worth mentioning.
The Leitner System
Flash cards have remained one of the most popular ways to study. Some people use them to memorize vocabulary, remember answers to specific questions, or even associate dates with events. Although the use of flash cards is convenient, their effectiveness has been reduced due to most peoples habits of prioritizing each card equally and therefore spending too much time memorizing the information on them.
The Leitner System, created by a German popularizer of science named Sebastian Leitner, is a more efficient method of studying that implements the concept of spaced repetition. All the cards start off in one pile. You would first scan through these cards, then test yourself. Each card you answer correctly goes to a second pile, while those you answer incorrectly should be revised then placed at the bottom of the pile. When you review the cards in the second pile and get them correct, they will be promoted to a third pile. An incorrect card will always get demoted to the first pile, even if they had previously been promoted to the last pile.
The reason why this method is so effective is that you end up reviewing the first pile of cards more frequently—the cards you don’t know very well. Some people choose to review their Stack 1 cards every day, Stack 2 cards every other day, Stack 3 cards once every three days, and so on.
Once all your cards have been promoted to the highest box, study them thoroughly and then start over. The continuous revision trains your speed so that you may reach fluency, which allows you to recall the information faster.

Timed Memorization
The name tells it all: you memorize a certain text within a time limit, normally around five to ten minutes depending on your fluency and memorization abilities. When the timer starts, you begin memorizing. When time is up, you flip to the next page, even if you haven’t finished the previous page yet. Continue until you’ve gone through all your material.
Timed memorization helps you to discipline yourself because your brain thinks that there’s no time for messing around; you have to do this here and now. Make sure to repeat the things you missed and revise everything frequently. This method is actually one of the most effective for cramming as it gives a better coverage than if you spend a whole half hour memorizing one subtopic.
The Memory Palace or Mind Palace
Sound familiar? In BBC’s Sherlock, the ‘highly functioning sociopath’ uses this method to remember vital information and facts. A mind palace is a systematic arrangement of information, each detail corresponding to a specific object in a familiar place. To ensure that you really remember everything, the objects have to appear shocking and conspicuous.
Here’s an example: if I wanted to memorize “crimson, 11, delight, petrichor (the smell after rain)”, aside from imagining Amy Pond or the Doctor saying it, I would first choose a place, let’s say my school. I’d imagine myself walking up to the front gate and seeing that the entire building has been painted the color of blood—crimson. The building would then rise as though it were lifted from the earth and crumble into rubble, controlled by Eleven, the character from Stranger Things. Now, since I can’t really picture delight specifically, I’d probably end up visualizing a colossal sign that simply reads “delight” posted in front of my school. As for petrichor, I’d imagine curves rising out of the puddles on the asphalt after a rainy night, a visual representation of the smell of the rain. Of course, these visualizations have been created to suit my memory. (I wouldn’t know if you watched Stranger Things.)
I used this method when memorizing case studies for geography, although I chose to visualize fictional places from television series and cartoons. Some people do opt to create artificial places, but these often become blurry and are easily forgotten.
As with any study method, repetition is vital to storing the information in your long-term memory. Visit your “palace” as often as you can. Soon enough, you’ll remember the data as well as you remember the place associated with the data.
So there you have it, three lesser known methods of studying that have proven to be immensely efficient. Now, there is no “correct” way to study, but there are methods that can ease your learning process.

Hello sweeties! When I went through the IB programme, sometimes I felt so overwhelmed by all the reading, work, presentations and everything we had to do. So here are my tips to help you manage your time wisely ♥
Write things down: It can be an agenda, a board, a calendar, post it notes. ANYTHING where you write down all the things you have to do. I always recommend planners and calendars because you can check the overview of a months and keep track of dates.
Make a to-do list: This one is just for the day. If you get overwhelmed sometimes (like me) about all the things you have to do, this will help. Youc an start with an easy task to get your momentum going, or with a difficult one to get it over with. You have to find what works for you and know your priorities.
Set aside leisure time: You NEED relax time. you know that right? there’s nothing else worse than a burnout so set alarms every 30min or so and go do your favorite activity for a little while.
Know yourself: What I mean by this is work at the time that you feel best at. Work in a place that you feel comfortable in. If it’s 10pm and you’re tired, don’t go to your bed and lie down to read your boring theory book.
Don’t procrastinate: Seriously. I know this too well. Especially if you’re a perfectionist, all you’re going to do whine and cry about the work that needs to be done, but that doesn’t help. Break down your tasks and start little by little!
Keep your materials with you: This is something that has worked for me bc some people tend to be late or class doesn’t start at the time or I’m waiting for an appointment, so if I’m bored or have a little spare time, I can read a book or handout because I have it with me!
I wrote each one of these personally, so please don’t repost. I hope this helps you, and remember to use your time wisely! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate on messaging me ^_^ © freepic icon

for a lot of us, it seems nearly impossible to find a balance between our grades and our health. i’ve created a list of tips and resources for managing classwork as well as mental illness. i tried to be inclusive of depression and anxiety as well as other disorders like adhd and bipolar. (i’d like to be more inclusive of others, but i couldn’t find a lot of resources and wasn’t sure what would help aaaa)
please let me know if you have anything to add, and i hope this post can help you out in some way c:
while studying
create a routine, and do your best to stick to it. having a consistent schedule can be a struggle, especially when dealing with long days of class or difficulties with sleep. try something more open-ended and flexible if you can’t manage specific times. (studying for an hour in the morning and before bed vs studying at 8 am and 10 pm)
start with your favourite subject. there are a lot of suggestions on how to start a study session (and they usually conflict it seems), but i’ve found that this works best for me. your favourite subject may be easy or difficult, but by starting with it, you get in the groove of studying and won’t get burnt out as quickly, giving you more energy to do your other work.
don’t take on more than what you can handle. if you’re feeling motivated, great! get as much done as you can! but on the bad days, just do what you can. there are times where it seems nearly impossible to get anything done, but still try to make the most out of each day and do what you’re able to so you don’t fall far behind. do what you can, when you can. don’t overwork yourself so much.
during class
take notes. for me, the easiest way to lose track during a class is if i don’t write or doodle. even if the material doesn’t seem important, write it down! it may be useful later, and it’ll keep your mind from wandering during lecture. (that being said, don’t always write things exactly as the teacher says; putting it into your own words can make it easier to remember and understand)
record lecture audio. if you can’t copy everything down in time, or if for whatever reason you need to know something verbatim, then you’ll have something to listen to again later.
take pics of what the instructor writes on the board. similar to the above tip, you can refer back to the pictures you took. just don’t forget about them! write yourself a note or make an alarm on your phone to remind you that there’s more material to review. don’t be the kid who takes pictures during the whole lecture but never writes anything, that kid’s obnoxious and gets bad grades
stay focused. i fidget a lot with my hands and feet, especially during a long lecture or study session. i find that keeping my hand on my pen/pencil is the simplest way to keep my mind on track, but fidget toys may help you as well. most teachers and students are fine with it as long as it’s not too disruptive.
at home
keep track of medication. ngl i am suuuper forgetful when it comes to medication :’) if you’re forgetful too, leave yourself as many reminders as you can. set alarms, write notes, or have someone else keep you accountable if you’re living with a parent or roommate. having routine helps here as well, especially if you take meds multiple times a day.
communicate regularly with your doctor. if you’re living away from home, or just a busy student, it can be particularly difficult to make appointments. but you should still make an effort to email your doctor, therapist, etc. at least once a month, and more often if you’re currently changing or adjusting medications.
“catching up” on sleep is a myth. depriving yourself of sleep during the week and then sleeping in on the weekends won’t fix your sleep schedule, sadly. keep it consistent if you can. even if you’re staying up late and sleeping in, try to get at least 7-8 hours. whether it’s 12-8 am or 2-10 am, it’s a reasonable amount for getting through the day. sleeping too little can leave you tired and grumpy in the morning, but sleeping too much can also leave you groggy, sluggish, and unproductive for the rest of the day.
eat something healthy. okay, no one can eat healthy all the time, and i don’t expect you to. i certainly don’t expect myself to lol. but we can still find a healthy snack or meal to make a part of our lives. sometimes fruit is the best comfort food tbh. here are a few simple snacks that you could try, for studying or for whatever else. i personally enjoy anything with berries, especially yogurt parfait or oatmeal.
have a support system. it helps so much to have someone you can talk to when you’re not feeling well or in need of encouragement. it can be a friend, a parent, a sibling, your significant other, or even other members of the studyblr community! (if you don’t have anyone to talk to, please talk to me!! i am here for you my friendo)
other stuff
community college by @universi-tea - if you’re worried about moving into dorms or away from home (or are simply unable to), i strongly encourage you to try out community college. it’s made schooling much more enjoyable and accessible for me and i think everyone should give it a chance. plus it’s waaay cheaper.
also, most (if not all) U.S. schools have a disability services department; this applies to both physical and mental illnesses. talking to them for the first time can be nerve-wracking, but in the long run it’s completely worth it. teachers and staff want to help you! but you have to help yourself a lil bit too. accommodations may include leniency about attendance and deadlines, or they may let you take exams on earlier or later dates with fewer students present. the flexibility with deadlines has saved my ass more than once tbh
things to do when things don’t feel right by @affectionsuggestions - sometimes it’s okay to just do small things, and sometimes it’s okay to not do anything at all.
ways to start feeling again by @urbanthropologie - similar to above, but with a focus on mindfulness (helps with anxiety, dissociation, etc)
my mental illness tag - this has many other resources that are otherwise not listed in this post.
my printables tag! - printables are great for when you’re too tired or not sure how to write things out completely by hand. there are some planners and calendars as well as gratitude logs, habit trackers, etc.
i have tons of other tags listed here if you need anything more specific :>
thank you for reading! i hope you found some of these tips helpful. i believe in you!!
