AO3 TOS cracking down on the correct way to include a DNI in a fanfic. Spoilers: threats are considered harassment and against TOS and it is on you to block people. No one is required to follow your DNI. You love to see it
YES YES YES YES!! Just saw the new post! Excerpt included below!
-
What qualifies as harassment?
Threats and insults
When directed towards other users, threats and insults constitute harassment, and we will act on them if reported to us. This includes when phrases such as "X/Y shippers are creeps" are present in work tags or summaries.
Severe harassment
Some harassment is severe enough that it creates a hostile environment not just for the target, but for anyone who witnesses it. Engaging in severe harassment will result in harsher penalties.
The following are all considered to be severe harassment when directed towards other AO3 users:
Death threats/wishes
Threats of violence/bodily harm
Slurs directed at other users
Self-harm/suicide baiting (suggesting that someone should hurt or kill themselves)
Doxxing or threats of doxxing (connecting a user's non-public, personally identifying information to their online handle)
Anyone can report these, whether or not they're the primary victim. PAC will remove all instances of severe harassment that are reported to us.
Call-out posts
A call-out is when someone posts a work (or a chapter or author's note) that criticizes someone for their behavior in an attempt to draw public attention to that person.
We consider call-out posts to be harassment. If you see a call-out post, whether or not it is targeted at you, you can report it to us. Call-out posts are not allowed, regardless of what the target of the call-out has done.

A poem by Ada Limón, the next American Poet Laureate

Love Poem with Apologies for My Appearance
Sometimes, I think you get the worst of me. The much-loved loose forest-green sweatpants, the long bra-less days, hair knotted and uncivilized, a shadowed brow where the devilish thoughts do their hoofed dance on the brain. I’d like to say this means I love you, the stained white cotton T-shirt, the tears, pistachio shells, the mess of orange peels on my desk, but it’s different than that. I move in this house with you, the way I move in my mind, unencumbered by beauty’s cage. I do like I do in the tall grass, more animal-me than much else. I’m wrong, it is that I love you, but it’s more that when you say it back, lights out, a cold wind through curtains, for maybe the first time in my life, I believe it.

Ada Limón
Today, 12 July 2022, Ada Limón was named the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States by the Librarian of Congress.

Spent the last four hours or so starting on a new project: mapping the locations of famous horror movies set in America. It’s a work in progress, y’all’ see more when I’m done.

PSA to Naturalized Citizens in the US
Some time ago I went to request a new ss card on the social security website and it said I wasn't a citizen despite being naturalized over 15 years ago as a kid. Then found out my parents and siblings have the same problem.
If you're a naturalized citizen of the US check on the Social Security website
You're unfortunately going to have to make an account if you don't have one and confirm your identity.
When you're done request a new card (even if you already have yours) and it'll tell you what the status is
There's an issue where some people were never told they had to change that status with SS after naturalization and that it doesn't automatically change
I'm of the belief that no one should be illegal and fuck ICE all the way, but this is a way to make sure that my fellow immigrants, documented or not, are safe
Please reblog to boost.

Humans never change; my favorite examples
Graffiti uncovered from Pompeii that literally just says “I fucked a girl here” (in so many words)
The fact that the name “Yucatan” possibly translates as “I don’t know what you’re saying” because the Natives had no clue what Spanish was
A ruling Spaniard once asked an ancient MezoAmerican to write something in his native language. It took hundreds of years to decipher it after the language was all but lost, but when we finally read it, it just said “I don’t want to do this”
That graffiti in the Hagia Sophia that says “Halfdan wrote this”
This Ancient Mosaic, meaning “Be cheerful, live your life”

This adorable picture of a Victorian couple trying not to laugh while getting their photographs taken:
King Tut’s duck tunic
Everything about Ea-nasir
Mesopotamian Break-Up Letter that says “News has reached me via the Upper Euphrates that you were visiting with my childhood friend Nisaba. I am devastated by this betrayal, as you are one of my favorite concubines. You have until the end of the month to pick up your flax shawls and sandals or else I will donate them to the temple of the moon god.”
Evidence in Prehistoric Civilizations of tribes caring for the Disabled. One story shows a young disabled woman who died of a tooth infection because her family fed her too many dates, spoiling her to make her feel better. Here's a better video on the subject
The first recorded Meme, used in WW2, Kilroy was Here. People would graffiti this so much that the Nazi's wondered if Kilroy was some kind of famous spy

And probably more that I can't think of right now :)
Feel free to add your own
