A different kind of detox for 2018
This isn’t going to be one of those new year new you posts talking about going vegan and pledging to go running every evening. If you’re anything like me, you’re probably sick of scrolling through your social media through hundreds of posts from fitness brands, magazines and influencers telling you you need to get back in the gym to ‘work off the mince pies’ and putting spinach in your smoothies.…

I stopped buying copies of Vogue a long time ago, because I had started to feel that everything inside was unrelatable, unattainable and possibly not for meant for me. But when Edward Enninful was appointed editor-in-chief, waxing lyrical about inclusivity and diversity, I had to give the another chance. Would it be like getting back with an ex- all the promise how they’ve ‘changed’ but they’re exactly the same? No, it wasn’t- I loved it. Here are my ten favourite bits.
1. Gingernutz
I actually squealed with delight when I came across Gingernutz on page 320, an incredibly stylish orangutan seriously werrrkkking some couture. I LOVE fashion illustrations; Fifi Lapin and Blair Breitenstein’s work are personal favourites, and now Gingernutz has been added to that list. I mean, would you just look at her wearing the shit out of some Valentino haute couture. Of course, her distinctive look is inspired by Grace Coddington, a close friend of the illustrator Michael Roberts.
2. Millie Bobby Brown
I want to be Millie Bobby Brown a lot. Her chic personal sense of style is slightly upsetting because when I was 13 my signature look was layering two brightly coloured vests on top of each other and wearing a very thin belt around my hips that served no purpose whatsoever. But it’s ok, I dont hold it against her. I wish her feature was more than a couple of lines because I always love watching her interviews and think she has great things to say, but she still looks amazing in the photos.
3. Everything Kate Moss said on the back page
I can’t decide if Kate Moss just says the most Kate Moss things she can possibly imagine for effect, or if she is actually like that 24/7. Highlights include ‘it’s unusual for someone to be later than me…except Naomi’ and ‘I don’t gravitate to bores, and they don’t gravitate to me’. The latter got me wondering whether Kate Moss would think I was interesting or boring AF. Considering her answer to ‘block heels or spikes?’ was spikes, and mine would most definitely be block (comfort over style amirite), I’m going to say she would find me incredibly dull.
4. Naomi Campbell interviewing Sadiq Khan
What an unexpected yet delightful combination! Like crisps and chocolate (if you haven’t, do it). I really enjoyed hearing their similar stories, and learning that they both understand the importance of nice trainers. This also makes my list of best bits purely for how small Naomi Campbell made Sadiq Khan look in the photo on page 188. LOL.
5. Victoria Beckham’s parents’ house
Victoria Beckham’s designs are neat, simple and elegant. But her family home sounds so.fucking.extra. ‘Artificial grass… stretches off to a grotto lined with statues of fairies and nymphs. ‘A well-stocked bar nestles in the corner of the tartan- carpeted living room’. Tartan carpet? TARTAN carpet? Tartan CARPET? Sounds so bad but so, so good.
6. The accessory stickers in the paper dolls piece
As I have previously stated, one of my favourite hobbies is colouring in my colouring books. Another one is sticking stickers everywhere, on everything. I literally paid £20 for my 2018 diary because it had two pages of stickers inside. So imagine my delight when this issue of Vogue included two pages of gorgeous accessories as stickers to put on the models! I had a lot of fun sticking the accessories all over the models’ photos. More is more- that’s why I gave one girl 3 handbags.
7. The amount of dogs in the ‘secret garden’ photoshoot
This doesn’t really need explaining because dogs. I will just leave the pictures here for your enjoyment. I particularly liked the ‘why am I doing this’ expression of the corgi in the sea with the naked woman.
8. Pat Mcgrath’s incredible make up
How stunning is this. Makes me feel like a fool for being proud of a good Saturday-night contour.
What were your favourite bits?

Help! I've lost myself
Help! I’ve lost myself
My favourite ways to relax are as follows; colouring in one of my many colouring books with fancy pencils and occasionally the sparkly gel pens I steal from my sister’s bedroom when she’s not in the house literally curling up like a cat in my duvet with a cup of tea and a good book (yes i am aware this is cliche AF, let me live) dancing writing with my favourite rose gold parker pen in my…

Basic Bitch Baking: Pumpkin Spice Cake
Basic Bitch Baking: Pumpkin Spice Cake
Sup Witches, Autumn is my favourite season, and I have no shame in saying that is mainly because pumpkin spice everything starts appearing. Below I’ve created a little recipe for pumpkin spice cake recipe which is deeelishhh and slightly healthier than a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks (but not if you eat all the squares, which I definitely did not do). As its nearly Halloween, there should be…

What the hell is a plant -based diet anyway!?
What the hell is a plant -based diet anyway!?
So, recently there has been a lot of hype around plant-based diets. I can’t scroll for two minutes on Instagram without seeing a caption about how life-changing a plant-based diet is, usually under a photo of a sludge-coloured smoothie, which contains ingredients with names like baobab (?) and cacao (???). A lot of celebrities and fitness-bloggers that I admire have recently turned to a…

There are many things in life I can’t do. I can’t do maths, I can’t cut carbs and I can’t walk past a Zara without going in. But most of all I really really can’t be on time, for anything, ever. Dinners, dates, deadlines, other things that don’t begin with D including my OWN GRADUATION. I first realised I had a problem when I had to start telling myself the start time of whatever I was attending…

I'm back, and 'I am very busy'
I’m back, and ‘I am very busy’
After a rather lengthy hiatus (unclear as to whether an entire year can be classified as a hiatus, or if it’s more ‘giving up altogether’???) I’m back and I am very busy, but you probably gathered that by the fact I already have a 2018 diary which is filling up preeeettty fast. (It’s also amazing and has STICKERS inside and you can buy it here). I’ve finally finished the 3 years of torture…

Places to be: Love Brunch
Hey sassy ladies, So this weekend the girls and I headed to Love Brunch which was being held at Madisons in London. Madisons is my favourite place in the city with an incredibblllee view and I’ve always wanted to go to a Love Brunch event. If you don’t know, Love Brunch is basically a big daytime drinking sesh with djs, food, drink and entertainers. I love day drinking (not afraid to say this is…

Need to know: Gymshark
Hi ladies, So I just got back from holiday, and after a week of seriously abusing the all inclusive all you can eat, I was in need of some motivation to get back (roll back) into the gym. But when I’m out of the habit, the thought of the gym makes me want to run for the hills. Well not run, cos that’s a bit too much like exercise, but at least briskly walk for the hills. When I get like this,…

So now I’ve got some spare time, I thought I’d do a quick blog post on everything I got up to for my birthday. I was completely spoiled by everyone around me and was treated like a princess (I wish I could do a Drake a ‘turn my birthday into a lifestyle’…)
On the Saturday I went for lunch at Babylon, the Roof Gardens restaurant in Kensington with my girl friends. The service, the view and the food and drink were all exquisite, and I had the best time! Of course, it’s a little on the expensive side but it’s perfect for a treat. the gardens are also beautiful and the perfect sun trap.
After getting suitably tipsy, we moved on to Bluebird on the King’s road, one of my favourite places in London- mostly because the list of cocktails is ENDLESS. We also ordered more food (Yes I had just eaten a three course meal and yes I was already hungry again)- definitely recommend the mini burgers from the bar menu. We drank the day away and then headed home about 8pm.
The Sunday was my actual birthday, and I was blessed with beautiful weather, which was lucky as I had bravely decided to have a barbecue with my family. At about 4 my boyfriend and I headed back to London to stay at Citizen M Bankside hotel, which is THE coolest place to stay in London, I’m positive. There was free movies, free wifi, and you could control the mood of the room and the colours of the shower all from the iPad on the bedside table. It’s not spacious but no reasonably priced hotel in London is, and I valued the features far more than I would the size. From there it was a short walk to the Shard, where we headed to the Oblix restaurant for dinner (this is starting to sound like I am eating my way around the city…).
Once again, the view the food and the drinks were sublime and the staff were so attentive. I had crab to start, lobster for main and the most beautiful surprise birthday cake for dessert.
We were planning to go out for drinks after, but as you can probably imagine I was pretty much double my usual body weight at this point, so we waddled back to the hotel for a few drinks before bed (the bar/canteen is open 24 hours, seriously handy).
The next day we went for breakfast at the Breakfast Club at London Bridge- the first and last time I will ever queue for breakfast. Thanks to its cult status we waited outside for around 45 minutes, and had to share a table with another couple. Breakfast was incred so I can see why, but I don’t think any pancakes are good enough to wait that long!
We went onto London Zoo in Regent’s Park, which I love, but it’s slightly disappointing that they don’t have lockers, so we had to lug our overnight bags around the whole time (cue Stephen getting slightly stroppy).
There’s a little round up of what I did, I hope my recommendations give you some ideas of where to go when you’re next in London :)
I’m going on holiday in two weeks, so I’m sure I’ll have lots to bore you all with again :)

Places to be: Nest Home & Cafe
Places to be: Nest Home & Cafe
Hi lovelies :) Last week I paid a visit to a cafe in Ripley that I had been meaning to try for ages- Nest. It’s half shop, half cafe, and it’s all so pretty I barely wanted to touch anything (I suffer from chronic clumsiness). If I could I would cram everything from the shop into my house; it’s all lovely really unique items that you wouldn’t find on the highstreet. Cloth bound books, wall art,…

Happy Friday
Just writing a quick post on my current obsession- wearing pink!
Anyone who knows me knows that I am strictly monochrome- I pretty much only wear black white and grey, and that’s how I like it.
However, during the crazy 50% off everything Missguided event, I managed to nab a bodysuit and skirt in the prettiest rose pink, VERY out of character, but when clothes are that cheap it’s the ideal time to experiment.
Firstly, I wore the bodysuit with jeans and court shoes to All Bar One with the girls.
I’m not really that comfortable with how much cleave it gave me, but for ladies blessed with smaller boobs I’m sure it wouldn’t be that revealing.
I then wore the pink suede skirt to Jak’s in Kensington, for a friend’s 21st.
I love the colour and it’s perfect for Spring/Summer, I think it works best worn with light colours, and can actually go with other shades of pink or nude (like my shoes in the picture). I wont be swapping my black and white wardrobe for a rainbow one any time soon, but this is a really easy colour to incorporate.
Enjoy you weekends!
mimi x
