I was a dnp fan during the hiatus so they were always definitely gay to me but the history of everything before that is really similar to bjyx -- sometimes when I question if we're delusional I remember the dnp situation was basically the same for so long and they were right.

First of all, what has Zhan-ge been doing? Very simply, he's been happily filming his spy drama in Shanghai, with cute little pictures released here and there. Aww... XZ why are you so cute T_T_T_T_T_T

Now. What has WYB been doing? 😏

After Haute Couture Week in Paris (8 July) and one event in Beijing (10 July), he essentially disappeared for the entirety of July. Ads, photos etc. were being released, but no one knew where he was. Nothing leaked, no coincidental meetings, nothing. This is important, because it really truly does mean that if WYB doesn't want you to know where he is, you will not know where he is. Y13 and I were giggling for the entire month saying he was prob in Shanghai the whole of July. But prob lots of flying back and forth to Beijing coz of the stream of ads released.

Then, came August.

Acutally, even on his birthday (5 Aug), there was still no news on his exact whereabouts. HOWEVER (and I'm sure this is common knowledge by now), XZ showed a weird little blip in his usual filming schedule (as reported by squatters doing the devil's work, and compiled by me, also doing the devil's work):

LOOK AT THAT 👀 and tell me that XZ didn't leave work exceptionally early to go celebrate someone's birthday!! He only works less than 12 h if it's non-drama filming (ads, photoshoots etc.), otherwise it's a solid 11-13 h day and he nevers leaves before 7pm. But precisely on 5 Aug, he leaves at 5 pm and only works for 8 h on a drama filming day. WHAT ELSE can it be other than celebrating someone's birthday????! (btw DO NOT even consider the need to fly back and forth between shanghai and beijing an obstacle, it's a 2h flight that's like taking the bus to WYB)

THEN came the Pechoin fan meet on 8 Aug. Hur Hur.

WYB now had a legit reason to actually appear in Shanghai. So, suddenly, after a month-long disappearing act, WYB surfaces at the airport and flies from Beijing to Shanghai in full view. He then appears at said event, in an excellent mood, high spirits, very present, very engaged (I'm more used to seeing him zone out during these fan meets 😅). Then...doesn't leave Shanghai?

Wait a minute, wait a minute. This is not his usual pattern. This is a guy who flies home to Beijing immediately after events. On the same day, if possible. Even if the events are across the globe!

Oh wait no, no. He's got race track practice in Shangai (10-12 Aug). Sorta fair enough maybe? There was still one whole day in between.

But WAIT. What's this? A new Leica camera? An M9??

Why are you lugging around a >£2000 camera around the race track??? And making one of your bodyguards carry it around to boot (yknow, in case ppl say it's a borrowed camera. Nope, it's mine, Zhan-ge gave it to me for my birthday and everyone needs to get that right 😤)

AND XZ!!! Whatcha mean you got recharged to 100% by whom, by what??? (11 Aug)

And another blip appears in XZ's schedule, perfectly coinciding with when WYB departed for his Chanel photoshoot (13 Aug).

Then XZ is off for one day (14 Aug), and was allegedly seen watching a play that day, at a venue supposedly a 10-min drive away from WYB's Chanel event. So speculations were rampant about WYB going over to pick XZ up after the play 🤣🤣 I kinda buy it coz the timings fit AND WYB didn't look at his phone during the Chanel event (coz somebody turned their phone off during the play XD XD) nor did he drink during the event (coz he had to drive them home maybe???😆) ALSO he was seen looking at someone else's camera 😆

Ok Ok so NOW he's gonna disappear and/or fly back to Beijing now (even just performatively), right? right?

It is said that he was attending the Arc'teryx 2025 Climb Academy in Squamish (22-24 Aug).

So it suddenly all makes sense, he was practicing at the climbing centre before the event, flew to Beijing to pack, and then flew off again to the academy XD XD

IF there was no one in Shanghai, he could have flown back to Beijing, gone to his regular climbing centre in Beijing on 15 Aug, and then fly off (19 or 20 Aug) from Beijing. But, y'know, home is where the bunny is so...

I look forward to the second wave of antics. There are rumours that XZ's parents are visiting so we may see the tent at the race in September XD XD

Why I think WYB is gay so strongly

So I'm piggybacking a lot off of and was personally convinced by Rainbowsky's collected analysis here + Rainbowsky post 2, but I do have my own spin to put on things.

For example, this post (link is my reblog on my main blog OP was talking about Pedr.o Pascal, who I don't really know) is sooo similar to how I feel about WYB. I do think if WYB wasn't a celebrity & one in a country that's unfriendly to queerness, he would be out on the DL like he is about his ADHD, and especially because of the 'no promoting effeminate men' policy he currently restricts his presentation.

(actually, being on the DL about ADHD is probably an effect of its stigma that's only started decreasing in the recent past (my impression is it's still more stigmatized in China too). so. who knows maybe he'd be loud about both in a different context)

Of the things in the Rainbowsky posts, the ones that stand out to me are this cql BTS (post linked at the end of post 1) (the captions on this one aren't the best but it's hard to find specific BTS :( if you have a better version send it and i'll replace the link), and the spit take (post 2) from a friend of yibo's at someone else saying "Yibo is always quiet with women... but he has a lot to say to men!" Here's another person's post talking about that one.

On the BTS: it's not clear, but the vibes are that they're switching in the middle of a conversation which is very 👀 I thought for a second XZ was trying to talk about the exclusivity of their relationship at large (but not with intensity; he has a lighthearted affect before), but I realized I was reading too much into the connotations of checking "just, you haven't?" in English (...and I may be too fanfic brained to have that connotation in the first place lol) and the rest of the conversation points to it being a situational question caused by XZ noticing Yibo is on wechat a lot. Yibo barely tries to be serious, immediately teasing xz, and XZ quickly starts teasing back. But I feel XZ was actually uncertain if Yibo was talking to other guys to merit the switch to English.

they're so obvious in that clip! and i didn't even think too much about it way back when i first say it because I didn't expect it from a video that was just there in my youtube recs.

My original contributions:

This video ("Is Yibo truly mean to girls?"), made by an Yibo-focused fan, is one of the things where after you think he's gay, watching it is "Wow he really is gay. it was in front of me all along!" His actions make it really clear he's not attracted to women. The channel also has this "savage dating question answers" video. There's also this video because there is seriously that much material of Yibo not reciprocating flirting from girls.

The scenes of Yibo being attentive to women around him at the end of first video (+ him helping his costar with her dress at an award show isn't in there but comes to mind) make it pretty clear it's not that he's really super misogynistic and thinks women aren't worth his time. Side note: Yibo def does hold some sexist ideas, but small ones about there being differences between women and men and what's suitable for them -- not that kind of misogyny. You could also argue he's just shy at first, but there are times when he reacts not with shyness that make it clear that his shyness is mostly a natural reaction to being flattered or being in an awkward situation.

These videos show he's uncomfortable interacting in a dating context with women, and that he's uncomfortable being shipped with women/seen as a "ladies' man". Because he's gay.

(well, I didn't establish that he's attracted to men, so theoretically him being ace is a possibility. but it's not: he's gay. because he's attracted to men. rainbowsky does the legwork of showing he's attracted to men in post 1. Everything makes sense in a new way if he's gay.)

in conclusion:

I know for certain Wang Ylbo is gay.

The answer is yes to both those questions! I'm just going to throw at lot of stuff here that's relevant.

I think the Chinese cp that "escaped containment" so to say the next most is the Word of Honor guys - I know I've seen stuff truthing them in English on tumblr at one point. if you look it up there are even people recounting how fans kept bothering one of them after the other got blacklisted from the domestic industry. here is a difficult to read article from a random gossip site which opens with a Voltaire quote which honestly makes me think it might be stolen & machine translated from a civilian post on a website in Chinese :P but it's the first link I found that covers that 1) the supertopic existed, 2) fans believed it was real, and 3) it was closed.

(Honestly I think ZZH is a really interesting parallel to Xiao Zhan, they both faced cancellation at the same time, but XZ made the full return ZZH did not, which I think must be mostly because ZZH had perceived anti-patriotic crimes and that's impossible to exonerate while XZ's fan morality and misbehavior crimes aren't directly threatening to nationalistic spirit. but also the fan behavior was way more real than ZZH taking some pictures. It also shows that 227 was a perfect time to shut down the supertopic, an opportunity they didn't take. i did think of Yizhan twice at my concert haha, once when people were using red wax paper a fangroup had spread around I thought "seeing these lights being red definitely is not as meaningful to mcr as XZ after he was nearly cancelled out of his job", and secondly after Gerard was slapped he was playing like it was back even when he started singing "Cancer" which made me think of Yibo playing up his slap haha. And I did have a general consideration of how in China there's all that fan signage at shows and that's barely a thing in the US. Instead we have people smuggling in weed 😔
