Forest in Albania

This fanwork was created by @yubingwang for our 2024 Gothic Fantasy Fest. 

Her chosen fest prompt was the song Slow by Amanati & Roniit. When asked to explain her creative process throughout her participation of the fest, she had this to say:

“When I was composing the art, I noticed the lyrics of the song, Slow by Amanati & Roniit, had lots of connections with spirits and souls, such as “I feel us fully fading”,“pour your spirit down my throat”,“as you breathe into my bones” and so on. This somehow reminds me of Tom Riddle making Horcruxes, concealing his fractured soul. In the painting I depicted Tom Riddle in a forest in Albania. I think the forest can be a great element to convey the gothic theme. To enhance the horror, I chose a dark green tone to emphasize the gloomy and mesmerizing ambience of Slytherin.”

Two questions about posting to the AO3 collection. Do we need to add the fest mod account as a co-creator? And is it okay if I restrict access to my fic to registered AO3 users only? Thanks a lot!

1. No, you do need to add the fest mod account as a co-creator.

2. Yes, you may absolutely do that. With all of the bots and trolls lately, we support creators doing whatever they feel is best regarding who can view and comment on their fanworks. 🫶🏾

Can I put embedded images and gifs of a N.S.F.W nature in my AO3 submission?

Yes! As long as everything is tagged appropriately and you mention that you'll have NSFW images in your author's note, you may absolutely include NSFW images in your GFF submission.

Do you allow original characters?

Yes. We welcome submissions with OCs, AUs and crossovers with other media.

Just make sure to tag appropriately and of course, that your fanwork has a Slytherin as one of your main characters, ships, or pairings.

Can I write a pairing for your event that is only half Slytherin? The main POV is a Slytherin but there's a non-Slytherin in the main tagged ship. I'm signed up and all that just finally getting around to writing and want to make sure. :)

Hi there, anon!

I know with our last fest (Silver Trio Fest), we were much more strict and only allowed ships where both or more characters were Slytherin.

But not this time!

For Gothic Fantasy Fest, any ship or pairing with at least one Slytherin in it, is allowed.

So, what you have planned is perfectly fine! 🪄
