TWST!Matangi progress! I still have some stuff to add like the cardigan and other small details but for the most part his school uniforms are done!

His uniform it sort of a mash up of Leona and Kalim’s that way I can add in the accessories like the bracelet and anklet. I didn’t realise Matangi was wearing an anklet at first so TWST!Matangi’s bracelet is designed after her anklet. The anklet he’s wearing is inspired by Matangi’s necklace! The headband is inspired by Matangi’s, it’s just a simplified version.

I imagine his uniform wouldn’t chance much between dorms aside from the colour of the vest.

TWST!Matangi WIP!

Finally got a moment to start on my TWST!Matangi! I absolutely love Matangi’s design to there are things that I’m keeping such as her long hair and elements of her accessories! I’m a sucker for male characters with long hair so it’s perfect, especially when a lot of the other male characters in both Moana and TWST have long hair! I tried to emulate the wavy nature of Matangi’s hair while keeping the flat appearance of the sprites (there are texture details in the hair, they may just be a little hard to see) but if anyone has suggestions on how to make it better let me know! I’m always open to suggestions!

I do have a whole layer of references from other Moana characters to use as reference for other accessories I might want to add in. I’m thinking on having TWST!Matangi’s uniform emulate Kalim’s with the rolled up pants so I can include anklets. I’m also thinking on giving him sandals like Leona rather than dress shoes and maybe a cardigan like Kalim’s rather than the blazer 🤔 I’m trying to think of other ways to match Matangi vibes and stay within the NRC uniform designs.

As for his dorm I’d like to thank @winterillustrates for the Scarabia and Diasomnia suggestions! I think I’m going to lean into what they suggested and have his original dorm be Scarabia -going along with Matangi’s intelligence and out of the box thinking- but was made to transfer to Diasomnia by TWST!Nalo. This way I can play into that part of Matangi’s story since it’s such a major part of her character. The finished refs may be a little bit just because I’m going to do Scarabia and Diasomnia inform sprites to match this idea!

I’m still trying to figure out a name for him as well as coffin icon & groovy candy designs! Suggestions are welcome and appreciated if anyone has any ideas! I don’t want to just do something strictly bat related since Lilia already has the bat motif.

Hello hello! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here and I apologise that this post is going to be a bit lengthy, but I need some advice/suggestions for a potential oc!

TLDR; I want to make a TWST oc based off Matangi from Moana 2 but need help with figuring out name/species/dorm/ect. Any suggestions are welcome!

Have I watched Moana 2? No.

Have I watched the music video for Get Lost a dozen times and now think Matangi would make for a fun TWST character? Yes, absolutely.

I have this super bad habit of impulsively making OCs based off characters I vibe with and then have trouble coming up with the details for their stories/lore. This is one of those instances because I adore Matangi vibes from what I’ve seen of her but I know very little about Polynesian mythology and stories and I of course want to keep that aspect for an oc like this. So I’m reaching out for any advice/ideas/suggestion anyone had and is willing to share!

I have like the bare bones of an idea; personality and appearance wise I don’t want to stray too far from Matangi. Her mischievous and playful personality is what drew me to her in the first place and I think it’s fun to have those sorts of characters. I’m also a sucker for long haired male/non conforming characters so long hair TWST!Matangi it is! I think I could also find a way to incorporate her hairpiece better with longer hair.

I also have an idea for their unique magic! Obviously, the name would be “Get Lost” but I imagine that the gist of the spell is that they can find their way out of any problem through “unconventional” means; essentially thinking outside of the box to solve problems or using the solutions that would normally seem too dangerous or impossible to even be entertained as ideas.

The things I’m having trouble with are thinking of a name (im awful with names 😭) and the more technical stuff like whether I want them to be a student or not. If they’re a student I’m thinking they’d be an upperclassmen -perhaps 3rd or 4th year (probably 3rd tbh)- but then the debate comes down to what dorm they should be in. I could argue Octavinelle given how important the ocean is to the Moana films, however, Matangi isn’t so much sea life inspired as she is bat inspired. In that case, would Savanaclaw or one of the other forms work better? Also, does it make more sense for them to be a fae, beastman, or something else? Theoretically they could be a bat fae like Lilia, in my mind that seems closest to how Matangi is in the film, though maybe there’s something that fits better? Idk.

I also kind of want to keep in the relationship between Matangi and Nalo since it appears to be a very important part of Matangi’s story. My thought is that, should I go the student route, perhaps TWST!Matangi knows they will be forced to work for TWST!Nalo after graduation. Perhaps it’s a curse situation like Idia or maybe it’s something else, idk. It’s the specifics that tend to trip me up because I want it to make sense within universe while also keeping the essence of the original story/inspiration.

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas that might help me be less indecisive and as respectful to Polynesian/Samoan culture as possible I would really appreciate it! I’m always open to learning more and listening to other people’s suggestions so don’t hesitate to share anything (as long as it’s respectful of course)!

This one was actually a manga panel redraw of Q from bungo stray dogs, specifically from BSD WAN 🤧

I substituted the crape that Q had in the original for an ice cream cone. Idk why, I just thought it would be a little silly. I used the story image of the stretching ice cream from the Scalding Sands event as a reference for the type of ice cream/the colour so maybe Alois got it from Kalim or Jamil? That or, maybe Malleus was trying to befriend Alois (I imagine Alois mistakes the fae trio for demons at first) and it just happens to be a flavour that’s the same colour as the stretching ice cream. It’s open to interpretation 😌

In place of Q’s doll I wanted to use the plushies you can get for the guest rooms in game. I couldn’t decide on if I wanted the white rabbit one or the Iago one so I did both! I also thought about adding in the soldier one (maybe one of the Daisomnia boys gave it to Alois is a “peace treaty” gift) but ngl these two plushies were hard enough 💀

I also included Alois’s coat b/c I didn’t draw it in the other doodle or the sprite 💀

I adore this manga panel so much and it was the perfect way to perpetuate my “Alois is besties w/Kalim and co” propaganda 😌💕

look at them all~ they’re just chillin and having a good time 😌 (aside from Jamil who’s tired of Maram accidentally braking his spoons)

Note: If you saw the WIP of this drawing, I did lighten TWST!Jasmines skin tone so that she matched Kalim a little bit better. They are siblings so I didn’t want their skin tones to be super far off, but Jazz does have a warmer complexion so her skin is a little darker. Amir has the darkest complexion b/c I imagine he’s almost always outside so he’s got a bit of a tan going.

Currently fueling my Alois is besties with Kalim propaganda by doing a redraw of that one Kuro flashback manga panel of everyone hanging out in the kitchen, except it’s with Jamil, Kalim, and my Aladdin OC’s 😌

I’ve also finally got some semblance of character designs for Amir (TWST!Aladdin) and TWST!Jasmine (I still don’t have a name for her 🤧). I’m really vibing with Amir’s outfit ngl. I didn’t intend for all three of my OC’s to have long hair, but I feel like the long hair is a staple for Jasmine and Amir would absolutely forget to cut his hair if he isn’t reminded to at least trim it.

Fun fact; the Octavinelle one glows in the dark which I think is very fitting for the dorm 😌

This was just for funsies based off this post I made last night. I imagine Alois would keep his normal vest and his iconic coat, I just didn’t feel like drawing it. He’s also got Lilia style pants and heels because it fits his vibe. There is literally no actual plot to the idea of Alois being in TWST, it was just a silly little idea that popped into my head lol.

Idk why this suddenly popped into my head but I feel like if we put Alois in TWST for a few months or something he would probably chill out. Like he obviously wouldn’t magically heal from his trauma, but I feel like Alois spending literally any amount of time away from Claude and co. would probably chill him out a little bit.

On an unrelated note I just have this strong feeling that Alois and Kalim would hang out and it would cause Jamil so much stress. Like Alois hates to be alone and Kalim is such a welcoming and physically affectionate person that I don’t think Kalim would have any problems with Alois hanging around him all the time. Jamil would be stressing out the entire time 🤧

I finally got around to getting a new pack of rainbow loom rubber bands so I could make a bracket for Octavinelle. I found this “glow mix” pack that has blue, white, and purple but I couldn’t decide which colour combination worked best for the dorm so I made two. I’m kind of leaning towards the blue and purple but i kinda want to see what yall think.

Marius is an alumnus of Night Raven College and currently works as the Arts Director for the school.

Despite the grey streaks, Marius appears quite young for his age. He was classmates with Divus Crewel and was in Pomefiore while a student.

As the art director, Marius is in charge of classes spanning from the fine arts to music to theatre. Marius is often times teaching the theatre classes but since the arts are electives it all depends on how many students are attending classes.

Marius is incredibly vain. This man will stop class to ask his students if he looks good and is chronically fashionably late to nearly all his classes.

He does, however, have a keen eye for detail which might be because of his vanity.

Marius has forgotten that he’s supposed to be teaching classes on multiple occasions. He is the physical embodiment of the "I'm late for school! Oh wait I'm 30... I'm a teacher!!" meme

Marius can be quite strict as a teacher. Critique days are dreaded by students because Marius can be harsh with his words, though it’s usually because he wants to see his students succeed even if it doesn’t seem like it.

Marius is also known to not only have favourite students but also isn’t shy about reminding his classes who his favourites are. For example; when it comes to performing arts like theatre or singing, Vil is Marius’s favourite. Jamil also seems to be in Marius’s good graces due to his dancing skills.

Marius, Sunna, and Máni are all from the same hometown. Marius once tried to ask Máni out on a date when they were still in school; Máni punched Marius in response.

Marius now appears to show romantic interest in Sunna who often ignores his advances.

Marius has stated to despise young children (pretty much any child up till the age of 15). He seems to tolerate high schoolers, however.

I feel like Marius would have some kind of unique magic, I just don't have any ideas for what it would be. Maybe it would be centred around Gothel's manipulation skills or have something to do with age manipulation in some way.

Dr. Sunna Blumen

Age: unknown

Hometown: Isle of the Sun

Pronouns: She/Her

Gender: female

Sexuality: Bisexual

Twisted From: the sundrop flower

Sunna is a diurnal fae and is the older sister of Máni. They’re either step siblings or adoptive siblings, they don’t quite remember which (totally not an excuse for me being indecisive)

Sunna had no prior involvement with NRC prior to working as the schools nurse. She’s one of the few female staff members at the school.

Sunna is a generally warmhearted and gentle woman. She has excellent bedside manner and most who visit the infirmary feel welcome.

However, if provoked, Sunna will be passive aggressive in her medical care. Think tightening bandages just too tight, putting rubbing alcohol on a wound, etc. Sunna is a very patient person though so it’s not often that someone provokes her to this point.

Sunna seems to be the current subject of Marius’s romantic affections, though she generally ignores him half the time.

She almost always has candy on her to give to her patients. Sunna also adores children and often acts as a maternal figure to others.

Sunna’s unique magic is called “Flowers glow” and is like a stronger version of Morrigan’s unique magic.

While Spring of Avalon can only heal injuries/illnesses inflicted by magic, Flowers Glow can heal almost any injury/illness regardless of how it was inflicted. The spell essentially returns the targets body back to its “prime” or state of being before the illness/injury occurred.

Flowers Glow does require more magical energy than Spring of Avalon, though Sunna doesn’t often need to use her unique magic. With the exception of overblots, regular healing spells/potions are typically enough to heal someone.

Máni Stein

Age: unknown (younger than Sunna)

Hometown: Isle of the Sun

Pronouns: he/they

Gender: nonbinary

Sexuality: Demiromantic Asexual

Twisted from: the moonstone opal

Máni is a nocturnal fae and is the younger brother of Sunna. His eyes and the blue streaks in his hair glow in the dark.

Máni's hair is inspired by Rapunzle's (in the series) hair turning black when she was reading the decay incantation. I did, however, switch the green streaks for a turquoise similar to Cassandra's when she was corrupted by the moonstone.

He works at RSA as the ancient spell and counter-spell professor.

Máni definitely has Aizawa vibes. He would die for his students but he has also been shown to become annoyed with some of the more rambunctious students (ie. Amir or any of my Wonderlands OCs)

He almost always dresses comfortably and looks like he just woke up. Compared to his sister, Máni is the complete opposite; he’s often quiet, low energy, and can seem apathetic most of the time. However, he can be quite blunt when he does speak up, sometimes even coming off as rude or insensitive on accident.

Whether it be the way he was raised or his age, Máni values hard work and dedication. He isn’t one to serve the answers to a problem on a silver platter no matter the person and tries to instil that thinking into his students. Don’t even think about asking for a grade bump, Máni will laugh in your face.

I swear I didn’t have Aizawa in mind when I made Máni…he just gives Aizawa vibes 🤧

I’m a sucker for irony, that’s why Máni is at RSA and Sunna is at NRC despite seeming like they should be switched.

Marius asked Máni out on a date exactly one time, except Marius was rather blunt with how he asked and it offended Máni. Marius got punched as a result.

Máni is the unfortunate "leader" of the trio when they have to be together. The siblings don't always spend time with Marius outside of inter-school events, but when they have to be together Máni is the one who keeps everyone on track.

How does his earring stay on? is it super heavy or is it lightweight? the world may never know.

I don't have a set idea for Máni's unique magic though I think it would be some kind of variation of the moonstone's powers in the series. I'm not sure though if I want the UM to be based on just one of the powers (either the decay aspect or the stone creation aspect) or if I want it to be a combination of the two.

And here's everyone all together! Fun fact: the pattern on the gold trim of Marius's tunic is the outline of the sun drop flower! it was a pain in the butt, but I thought it was a fun little easter egg.

I literally just finished up the TWST!Tangled spread only to decide that Máni needed a little doodle as well (Marius & Sunna have mini doodles). I like to use manga panels to help with the poses/base skeletons and I thought this one of Francis and (im assuming) Edward would be really funny. I didn’t want to throw in a different/new character so poor Marius is in trouble 🤧

I got the sketches done last night. In case the names are hard to read, the pink one is Marius, the blue one is Máni, and the orange one is Sunna!

Sunna is the only one I have to finish in terms of clean colouring so hopefully I’ll have these three done later today!
