hc that neil grew up subsisting on 78% shitty gas station coffee and his taste buds are burned to shit and back. this man would drink gasoline if you told him it came with caffeine. the foxes make a game of seeing what horrors they can slip into his coffee that he'll still drink. coffee with garlic powder. coffee with orange juice. someone sneaks a splash of mouthwash in a cup of coffee once and neil drinks it without flinching.

one time theyre out for a big team lunch and andrew pushes a coffee in front of neil and he drinks it, frowns briefly, then keeps talking to kevin, periodically sipping his coffee, frowning vaguely and carrying on. dan is eyeing the group suspiciously, trying to guess who has slipped what in neils coffee when andrew catches her eye and very, very quietly pushes a bottle of soy sauce away from his plate.

dan snorts so hard she almost chokes on her dumplings. and she'll never be able to prove it, but she swears that for a half second andrews face did something that almost looked like smiling.
