challenge: go look up "aromantic definition" on google. what comes up as the definition????
adjective having no interest in or desire for romantic relationships.
noun a person who has no interest in or desire for romantic relationships.
yeah. that's what the definition of aromantic is on google. completely fucking incorrect.
so a reminder that aromantic means not experiencing romantic attraction and NOT a lack of desire for romantic relationships.

Hello! I would like to warn everyone of an experience my roommate and I have just had, in case I can prevent it happening to anyone else. Or, you know, if anyone knows a lawyer who could advise us.
My roommate has a queen size Nectar mattress. Friday night, she spilled some water on the bed and took the cover off to air dry. She unzipped the cover, and a flame retardant sleeve (that we hadn’t known was there to begin with) made of woven fiberglass began shedding small fiberglass particles. They were airborne. The whole room and everything in it is contaminated, and there are few surfaces elsewhere in the apartment that don’t have at least a little. Nowhere on the mattress’ tags or on the Nectar website does it say there is a fiberglass sleeve. In fact, it makes a big deal of how there are five components: top of cover, three layers of foam, bottom of cover. Nothing about the flame retardant sleeve there. The label on the cover doesn’t say you can’t take it off, just that they suggest you don’t. It does not mention fiberglass as a material found in the mattress at all. The website even has a page explaining that you CAN take off the cover and wash it, if you must, just that they suggest you don’t. No real reasons given. No mention of fiberglass.
Our apartment is sparkly with fiberglass. We have had to drop money on a HEPA filter vacuum that could safely remove some of it, and on new non-permeable mattress covers to contain the worst of the source. We have had to garbage-bag up almost everything in her room. No amount of runs through the laundry seems to get it all out of clothes, and we have to thoroughly wipe out the washer and dryer drums every load. All her pillows were ruined, the chair in her room, her clothing, some expensive bras, a nice area rug, and I’m sure there will be trouble on the horizon with our landlord regarding the carpet, even if we do vacuum it as well as we can.
Lilly has been having nosebleeds, before the mattress was unzipped, but the worst one I’ve seen yet was the one that evening. She’s been sleeping on it almost a year, and it could have begun coming through the fabric cover. Nosebleeds are a sign of fiberglass inhalation.
We have contacted the company, and their response was honestly insulting. We were told that we shouldn’t have taken the mattress cover off to begin with, and that it can no longer be covered by the 365 night guarantee, despite us having had it for under the full year. I have just now, after three days trying, finally spoken to someone willing to look into our case, so here’s hoping we’ll get even a fraction of what we are, frankly, owed.
It really feels like there could be some sort of lawsuit here.
In fact, there is one, with a situation nearly identical to ours but with a different company. This was the first hit when I searched our problem online.
https://topclassactions.com/…/zinus-class-action-says…/
Anyway, if you have a Nectar mattress, don’t ever open the easily accessible warning-label-free zipper! If you have had it under a year, and it’s in its original condition, it can still be returned. If you were planning to get one, maybe don’t! A lot of the foam-mattress-in-a box types have the fiberglass, though most of them disclose the presence of the fiberglass rather than hiding it like a dirty secret. Make sure you do a search for mattresses WITHOUT fiberglass as a flame retardant.

Person appears holding a bundle of furs.
“Hi! My name’s Siqiñiq, I am Iñuipaq from Alaska, Iñuit, and I want to show you my furs!”
They shift the furs in their arms, holding up a white with blue undertone fur.
“This is blue fox, I’m going to use this on my girl’s parka’s (atigi)”
They hold up a white and brown colored fur.
“This is lamb, which in the city many of us use as liners.”
They next switch to a caramel colored outfit.
“This is sikshrik, squirrel. This is what you would use as a liner traditionally. It’s much softer, so pretty.”
The next fur is a white-grey color.
“This is silver fox, my favorite.”
The Tiktoker holds up the finale fur.
“And my wolf!”
They wrap the wolf fur around their head.
“Okay, yesterday Biden signed support in one of the largest fossil fuel projects in North America right next to my village where my mom lives right now-“
White text that says “Willow Master Project” shows up. They put the fur down and bend closer to the camera.
“-a dynamite mine less then 10 miles away would be installed over 300 miles of pipeline. This completely goes against the Paris climate agreement.
You can take action now.
Visit the link in my profile, it’ll go to a YouTube video of testimony’s of real people in these communities. Then go to silainuat.org
Thank you!”
The video stops

I know reducing stigma around periods is important, but also i kept being told my periods were normal and natural and "feminine" or whatever, so i desperately tried to embrace my periods even though they made me dysphoric and they caused excruciating pain and my flow was exceedingly heavy. Nobody ever told me that i could hate my period and that i could stop having it until i realized i was trans (in my 30s).
I just want people to know they don't have to have a period. Birth control can be used for cis women and trans people to stop your period (or lighten it significantly if that's what you want), so you don't even need to be on testosterone to stop it (I'm not).
So yeah, talk to a gynecologist about stopping your period today.

idk who needs to hear this but if you’re bi/pan/mspec, and ur with someone of the ‘opposite’/different gender, ur attraction to them is still bisexual/pansexual/etc. your sexuality is still valid. you dont only get to be wlw/mlm when you’re in a relationship w ppl of that gender. u can talk about being mspec, have a bi/pan flag in your room, love being bi/pan/mspec, have pride, while still being in a m/f relationship, like thats literally perfectly fine. ur gorgeous <33

Thinking about lil nas x. Thinking about how literally less than a month ago, I was seeing thinkpieces about potato heads having gender and how my generation is soooo sensitive. Thinking about how often I’ve been told “don’t like it don’t look” bc “whhaaaat the sandwiches are good” or “they were just JOKING” or “people have a right to serve whomever they want, go find another cake shop if it bothers you, oh my god.”
Thinking about how many times I’ve heard the words “music used to be ABOUT something.” Thinking about all those gotcha jokes where the set up is “if that was my son, why i would” and the punchline is that they’d love him, right, because it’s funny we are at risk of being traumatized. Thinking about this quote I read today about disrespect - that there’s plenty of people who think respect means “accepting as the absolute authority”. Thinking about religious trauma and the “battle for the soul of the nation”.
Thinking about how fighting them off shouldn’t be his job. Thinking about how preformative this pearl clutching is; how it’s just asinine rhetoric to cover blatant bigotry. Thinking about how I am scared to hold her hand sometimes. Thinking about bravery. Thinking about how the first pride was a riot. Thinking - holy shit. He just saved so many lives, and i hope he knows it.

"sex scenes have no narrative purpose" is such a funny take on so many levels. people will really believe that the whole human experience is valuable to portray artistically except sex, which of course has never held emotional weight or significance for anybody

Being nonbinary/agender doesn’t have to be a constant struggle.
You can be happy to be nonbinary.
You can love your gender identity, your experience of gender, your gender euphoria.
You can romanticize the hell out of your gender identity.
You can love that you found a community that shares your experience.
You can joke about your gender identity. You can make silly puns. You can laugh so hard you cry about it.
None of it invalidates the bad times you might have and the struggles you might face.
You are so much more than the heartache.

If you havent heard yet, its just been released that Eric Carle, the author of the very hungry caterpillar and countless other iconic children's books, passed away last sunday. He lived to be 91, and will continue living through his books and the impact he has left on so many lives. Please remember to not say rest in peace, as Carle is jewish. Please say "may his memory be a/for blessing"

Mmmm. There’s a lot of posts telling ace people that it’s okay to want and have sex and telling aro people that it’s okay to want and be in a relationship, and those are great and important and true but also.
It’s okay to never want to have sex. It’s okay to never be okay with sex, to have a completely sex-free relationship, to never feel comfortable having sex because you’re partner enjoys it, to never find any sort of joy in sex.
And it’s okay to never want a serious relationship. It’s okay to not want to date and it’s okay to want to spend your life single. It’s okay to never be in a serious romantic relationship and it’s okay to never be in a serious platonic relationship and you never have to have a romantic or platonic partner no matter what anyone says.
It’s okay. You’re okay.

can’t believe I have to say this but banning the kosher/halal slaughter of animals is antisemitic and islamophobic no matter what your justification is
