okay as much as i love the whole “sea salt family” vibe (and they ARE a family, you cannot convince me otherwise), that is NOT two dads and their two kids. that is a guy who got bullied into a babysitting gig and ended up bonding with the two kids he babysat, slightly out of pity and mostly against his will, and his childhood friend-turned-boyfriend-turned-ex-and-also-middle-manager-turned-boyfriend-again who fucking HATED these kids for taking his bf’s attention away from him but is now trying to see them through his bf’s eyes but it’s awkward and messy for all of them

okay that probably could have used more punctuation than i gave it, but anyway i need it to be known that they are a FAMILY but also a MESS and i ADORE them

there are many reasons why i love spy x family but the main one is that it is a beautiful example of how you can make a story simply by withholding information. the entire plot hinges on the fact that two very clever and insane people just don’t have all the details. and the only person who is does is a completely unhinged five-year-old.
