so often the things people want are just inherited from what other people want for them. a desire to appear "ok, normal, at least somewhat tolerable to another person" in their eyes. it almost doesn't have anything to do with the spouse, the child, the home, the life. i have spent my entire life wanting things that i don't want, things i don't even like, because... well, sometimes i was told to want them, and sometimes i was just surrounded by other people wanting them, so i thought i should as well. it's gravitational. i watch other people do the same because they don't know anything else. this was the world made available to them
