The guard jammed the key in the lock, twisted, and shoved the rusty door open. He slipped inside, making his way through the dark corridor, flashlight bobbing as he walked. He hated being a security guard, but it's the only place he can get job at the moment, and he needs the money. He almost forgot about the other guard who was with him.
'You go over there and look,' the guard grunted, pointing at a door on the far right of the building nearby the dining area. 'The more ground we cover, the better.' The second guard nodded and walked away into the direction he was told to go.
He entered the dining area, light shining on his face. This abandoned pizzeria still has electricity. How odd. He flicked his flashlight off and looked around. There were old tables with paper plates and party hats set as if there was a birthday party that would never happen here ever again. He looked up at the stage, eyeing the animatronics suspiciously. Freddy, Chica, and Bonnie. He never liked them. They gave him the creeps. He wandered away from the dining area, and found himself in front of Pirate Cove, the 'Out of Order' sign layered with dust and ruined, the words barely legible. The red, old curtains were closed shut. The guard couldn't help but feel curious, pulling himself onto the stage. He pulled back the curtains and jumped back as he stared at a gleaming hook right in his face. He stood there for a moment, then took a deep breath as he told himself it wasn't alive; it wasn't even moving.
He calmed himself down, then noticed movement. But it wasn't the animatronic. He looked around again and saw a kid standing behind Foxy. The kid had red, messy hair. He wore a red-and-white striped t-shirt. What seemed like red animal ears jutted out of his head, as well as a tail pressed up against his legs. The guard gasped, caught off guard. Then he saw the kid's eyes. They were black. Sclera and all, white slit pupils.
'Hey, kid,' the guard said gently. 'What are you doing here?'
The kid jumped back and darted away. He seemingly disappeared.
The guard pulled out his walkie talkie and spoke into it, 'found a kid. I tried speaking to him, but he fled. Get over to Pirate's Cove immediately and help me look for him.' The walkie talkie sputtered, static the only thing to be heard, when the second guard's voice broke through, '10-4,' and then was silence. The guard put his walkie talkie away as he looked for the boy.
The second guard soon joined him, sucking in air as he had run here.
'Where did you see him? What did he look like?' The second said through deep breaths.
'Saw him behind Foxy in Pirate Cove. He had red hair and a red-and-white striped shirt. And, oddly enough, red animal ears and a tail.' The guard said.
'Really? That's creepy and weird,' the second guard replied.
The guard didn't reply, gazing around the room. He started rummaging through stuff, hoping to see the boy. He called out, 'Wherever you are, kid, we just want to help!' And maybe figure out why he has ears and a tail, he thought darkly.
A gust of air brushed by the two, the words, 'you can't help me,' echoing in a whisper. How did that happen? Air can't get into a building like that! No one had opened a door, either.
'Hey! Is this the kid you were talking about?' the second guard called him over, breaking him out of his thoughts.
The guard spun around and immediately held eye contact with dark eyes. But not just one set of dark eyes. 4.
One of them was the red headed kid. The others... he did not recognize fully, but they did look familiar.
One kid had blue hair, with bunny ears jutting from his head. A bunny tail, as well. The next kid, a blonde with curly hair, had black eyes as well. She didn't seem to have any animal-like traits, but she wore a pink fluffy dress. She held a yellow mask in her hand that had a beak on it... then he noticed all of them had a mask in hand that looked like them and the animatronics. The fourth kid, a brown headed boy with brown skin, had bear ears and a bear tail similar to the bunny's tail.
'You didn't say there was more!' the second guard fretted.
"That's because I didn't know there was more! I had only seen the red head till now. Hey, kids, are y'all okay?' His voice adopted a soothing tone when speaking to the kids. They jumped, backing away. They looked ghostly. What was wrong with these kids? They need help, and the guard told himself he'd help them.
'We aren't here to hurt you. We just want to help. Reunite you with your families. And whoever took you here will pay the price.' The guard growled.
The kids stared at him. Then, the red head spoke up. 'You can't help us. We're beyond helping.'
The guard was stunned. The kid spoke to him. 'Why?' he said gently.
'Because we are the children who went missing years ago. We're dead.' the red head snapped.
The guard looked horrified. 'Why... how?' he managed to sputter.
'Not that it's any of your business, but we were killed. Murdered. Stuffed into animatronics and live as souls in the afterlife. That is why we look the way we do, aside from Susie.' The red headed kid gave the blonde a pointed look, indicating that was Susie.
"Oh. You're the kids from the incident. Were deemed missing. Because your bodies were never found.' the guard whispered.
'Yup. I'm Fritz, by the way. That's Jeremy,' he pointed at the blue headed kid. 'And that's Gabriel. You know who Susie is now.' he continued, pointing at the brown headed kid with bear ears.
'I'm sorry you were killed. We really did want to find you. Who killed you?' the guard asked.
Fritz hesitated. 'The person who had killed us is already dead, so to speak. Dead but alive, like us. But it's still different for him. He craves power. His name is William Afton.'
'Hey, weren't there 5 of you that went missing?' the guard asked.
'Yes. There's Cassidy. She isn't here at the moment, but she did die here. She possesses Golden Freddy. We have odd looks because we possess the animatronics we were shoved into. It's not our fault we are like this.' Fritz said, sounding defensive.
'No, obviously it's not your fault. Okay, so William is dead but still alive in a way? How did he die? Is he still tortured, or does he enjoy this?' the guard asked gently.
'We tormented him. Especially Cassidy. She hates him the most. He wanted us to leave him alone, so he got into a Springbonnie suit. The thing is, those suits can be worn as costumes and be used as actual animatronics, so it has springlocks in it. Well, we chased him into a back room where he put the suit on. The ceiling was leaking, water dripping from it. It landed on William, triggering the springlocks, because they are very easy to set off if not careful. The springlocks killed him, very gruesome.' Fritz smiled darkly. 'He always come back, though. He probably used remnant to survive like that. Remnant he gets from killing people. His target is kids. Remnant is basically their soul, and when they are killed, they lose theirs, so Afton takes them, causing him to live after death. Also gives power. He made his family have remnant, so they stay immortal forever with him.'
'Oh. Wow. That's dark. But he's an evil man. He deserved that.' the guard said.
All 4 souls nodded in agreement.
'We wish we could help you. But y'all are tied to the animatronics, and can't leave?' the guard muttered.
'We probably could. Never have tried. But we feel we'd most likely scare the living, so staying here was always the best decision for us.' Fritz replied, sighing.
'You can always try. I didn't freak out and scream when I saw you, did I?' the guard said.
'Yeah... but not everyone is going to react the same way as you did. Especially our parents. They'd probably be in denial, not believing we are real.' Fritz said, his ears flattening.
